Am I a Kamen Rider or the real young master who was switched at birth?

Chapter 11 Going to the Police Station to Give a Statement

By the time Ye Yang and his two companions were taken to the police station, it was almost dark.

According to the work procedures, all personnel present at the scene of the Moshou incident need to go to the nearest police station to give a statement.

This is a federal regulation. No matter your status, even if you are the second young lady of the Lin family, you have to obediently sign and put your fingerprint on it.

Of course, this was clearly not the first time Lin Xingran had gone through this process. She walked into the police station with ease and familiarity, and even greeted the auxiliary police officer on duty at the front desk, as if she were going home.

The interrogation room was at the end of the corridor on the third floor. The room was very clean; the white walls were flawless, and the light gray floor was spotless.

In the middle of the room was a rectangular table and several folding chairs.

The window was half open, and the evening breeze blew in from outside, causing the curtains to sway gently.

Lin Xingran plopped down in the chair closest to the window.

She leaned back in her chair, legs stretched out straight, head tilted slightly back, staring at the buzzing fluorescent light tube on the ceiling, and let out a resentful sigh.

"My credits—gone—all gone—"

After saying that, she sighed again, then reached out and grabbed her burgundy short hair, running her fingers through the strands and rubbing it haphazardly, making her already messy hair even more disheveled.

"I can handle that spider-like beast all by myself!" She sat up straight, gesturing with her hands in the air, her face full of resentment.

"I started by kicking it several meters away with a fiery flying kick, did you guys see that? Wasn't that a cool kick? If I had gotten a few more hits later, it would definitely be my credit! But then—"

Her gaze shifted to Ye Yang, her eyes filled with such intense resentment that they seemed to drip water.

Ye Yang sat opposite her, completely unaware that his second sister was silently accusing him with her eyes.

He was looking down, holding a tissue in his hand, carefully wiping the Decade Driver at his waist.

His movements were very light and slow, like an antique restorer handling a piece of newly unearthed porcelain.

His brows were slightly furrowed, and his expression was extremely focused, as if he were doing the most important thing in the world.

After cleaning the slot, he pushed the handles on both sides back and forth a few times to make sure the mechanical structure was smooth before nodding in satisfaction.

He held the drive up to the light and turned it around. The white base reflected a soft matte finish under the fluorescent light, while the silver trim and black lines appeared exceptionally sharp in the light. The crystal core refracted a small halo of rainbow light onto the table.

"Hmm—" Ye Yang narrowed his eyes and let out a heartfelt exclamation from his throat, "It's simply a work of art."

Lin Xingran's gaze fell on the driver in his hand.

Her eyes were already large, but now they were wide open, the green glow of the crystal core reflected in her pupils.

She licked her lips, then sprang up from her chair and spoke in a sweet, cloying tone that Ye Yang had never heard before.

"Good brother!"

She clasped her hands together in front of her chest, tilted her head slightly to one side, and blinked her eyes. Even the dark circles under her eyes that hadn't completely faded looked rather cute against this expression.

"How about you show this belt to your prettiest second sister?"

Ye Yang pulled both hands back at the same time, holding the driver firmly in his arms, and shrank back in the chair, assuming a defensive posture.

"No, no, no!" He shook his head like a rattle-drum. "The belt is a very important thing for us Kamen Riders. We can't just let anyone touch it."

Lin Xingran's sweet smile shattered instantly.

She slapped her palm on the table, making a crisp sound, and the volume of her voice returned to normal.

"I'm just looking! What's the big deal? I'm still your second sister! Can't I even take a look?"

Ye Yang hugged the driver even tighter and shifted his body slightly to the side.

"You said this morning that you didn't acknowledge me as your brother. What did you say again—'You've only temporarily passed the test, and we'll continue to observe you.' So we're not officially siblings yet."

"I admit it now! Right now! Okay? Let me see it!"

"No!"

"Ye Yang, you stop right there!"

Lin Ying sat by the window, not participating in the chase surrounding the driver.

She turned to the side, resting her chin on one hand, and quietly looked out the window.

A small gray bird landed on the windowsill outside the window. It tilted its head and looked inside through the glass with its tiny black bean-like eyes.

Lin Ying also tilted her head to look at it.

The little bird tilted its head to the left. Lin Ying also tilted her head to the left.

The little bird tilted its head to the right. Lin Ying also tilted her head to the right.

The person and the bird tilted their heads at each other seven or eight times through the glass.

Then Lin Ying tapped the glass lightly twice with her fingertips, producing a very soft muffled sound.

The little bird was startled and flapped its wings and flew away.

Lin Ying watched its departing figure and smiled slightly.

The chase behind them continued.

Ye Yang had already circled around the table to the corner of the wall, with nowhere to retreat.

Lin Xingran blocked his way, one hand against the wall, the other outstretched, her expression switching back to that sweet, cloying smile.

"Just a moment—just a moment—"

"No, no, I won't give it to you!"

Lin Ying turned her head and looked at the two people pulling and tugging at each other like children. She sighed softly, "You...you two, stop fooling around. This is a police station."

The door opened as soon as he finished speaking.

Two people walked in from outside the door.

Walking in front was a policewoman who looked to be in her twenties. She was not tall, about 1.65 meters, and had a well-proportioned figure.

She was wearing a dark blue police uniform, the silver stripes on her epaulets gleaming slightly under the light.

She tied her long, dark brown hair into a neat low ponytail at the back of her head, and casually tucked a few wisps of hair behind her ears.

She has gentle and delicate features, with standard almond-shaped eyes that droop slightly at the corners, giving her a naturally friendly and smiling appearance.

She has very fair skin, but there are some light freckles on her cheeks.

She was holding a folder in her hand. After pushing open the door and seeing the scene inside, she paused for a moment, then a gentle smile appeared on her lips.

Following behind her was a male police officer in his early thirties, who looked very tall. He was holding a pen and a notebook, and his expression was somewhat serious.

"Sister Gu!" Lin Xingran instantly pulled her hand back from the wall, raised her hand and waved, a bright smile on her face.

The policewoman's name is Gu Qinghe. She is an outstanding graduate of the Federal First Military Academy, several years ahead of Lin Yumin. She is also an Awakened, with abilities leaning towards support.

After graduation, she did not choose to go to the front line, but instead joined the Awakened Affairs Division of the police station, which was responsible for handling cases related to Awakened individuals.

She has a gentle personality and is patient in her work. She took good care of her juniors when she was in military school. Lin Xingran had interacted with her several times.

Sometimes it was at the scene of the silent beast together, and sometimes it was when Lin Xingran got into a little trouble and was called to the police station, and she helped to handle it.

They got to know each other quickly, and Lin Xingran privately called her "Sister Gu".

Gu Qinghe smiled and nodded to Lin Xingran, then glanced around the room.

Her gaze passed over Lin Ying, and she nodded slightly before finally landing on Ye Yang, who was still holding the driver.

Her gaze lingered on the driver in Ye Yang's arms for a second before returning to his face.

Gu Qinghe placed the folder on the table, then placed his hands on top of it, and said softly, "Thanks to the three of you today. You arrived just in time. We've already checked the surveillance footage, and from the appearance of the Silent Beast to your intervention, less than three minutes passed."

"We have data on the lethality of the spider-like silent beast. If it had charged into a crowd, the consequences would have been unimaginable. We are truly grateful that there were no major casualties this time."

After speaking, her gaze fell on Ye Yang. She tilted her head slightly, a hint of curiosity on her face.

"You're an Awakened One too, right? Looking at the surveillance footage, your fighting style is very unique. I've never seen that armor and energy barrier before. Are you from the same school as Xingran and the others?"

Before Ye Yang could even speak, Lin Xingran had already answered.

"He's not!" Lin Xingran pointed at Ye Yang, her tone tinged with resentment. "He said himself that he's just an ordinary person, not even an Awakened One."

Gu Qinghe blinked: "Not an Awakened?"

"Yes!" Lin Xingran put her hands on her hips and raised her chin slightly. "He's the younger brother I just picked up today."

Ye Yang turned to look at her, somewhat speechless, and said, "Can you speak more politely? What do you mean by 'picked up'? You were just calling me 'good little brother' so sweetly, and now you're saying 'picked up' in front of strangers? Did someone abandon me on the roadside and you just happened to pass by and pick me up?"

Gu Qinghe blinked. She looked at Ye Yang, then at Lin Xingran, and then at Lin Ying, who was sitting quietly by the window without saying a word.

Lin Ying probably sensed Gu Qinghe's gaze.

She pulled her hand back from the windowsill, sat up straight, and said in a calm tone, "He and I...we were...were switched at birth. He...is my second sister's biological brother."

"Yes! That's exactly what I mean!" Lin Xingran snapped her fingers and pointed at Lin Ying with her finger in approval. "Lin Ying is right."

Then she turned to Gu Qinghe and added in an exaggerated, theatrical tone, "To put it simply, they were switched at birth in the hospital eighteen years ago. He was a boy and I was a girl. I don't know how it happened, but they were just switched at birth."

"Then this morning we brought him back, and this afternoon he transformed into a pink armored man and kicked a Silent Beast to pieces. That's how the story has unfolded so far."

After she finished speaking, she nodded to herself, feeling that her summary was quite accurate.

Gu Qinghe's lips twitched slightly; her mind processed several pieces of information simultaneously in that instant.

The real young master who was switched at birth, not an awakened one, pink armor, kicking the silent beast to pieces...

None of these pieces of information are logically connected.

She coughed, adjusted her expression, then brushed a stray hair behind her ear with her finger and revealed that gentle smile again.

"Alright, alright, let's not talk about that now. Anyway, thank you for your help today. As per regulations, we will send a formal notice to Xingran's school, informing them of your assistance to the police in handling the Silent Beast incident today. That way—"

She smiled and looked at Lin Xingran, "You should be able to get a lot of credits this time."

Lin Xingran's eyes lit up instantly when she heard the word "credits".

But then she suddenly remembered something, and her eyes darted around.

She leaned forward, placed her hands on the table, and said in a consultative tone:

"Sister Gu—um—could you add Ye Yang's credits to my account as well?"

Ye Yang turned to look at her.

Lin Ying also turned to look at her, a very obvious look of disdain on her face.

"What!" Lin Xingran noticed Lin Ying's gaze and defended herself righteously, "Eight o'clock in the morning is tiring! Do you know what it feels like to get up at eight o'clock in the morning for the first class?"

"Do you know how painful it is to get out of bed? I've been too lazy this semester, skipped a lot of classes, and my credits are definitely low."

"Anyway, Ye Yang isn't from our school, so giving him credits is useless, right? It's better to give them to me; I can still—"

"Second sister," Lin Ying said in a flat tone.

Lin Xingran felt guilty after being called that. She pouted, then looked away and muttered softly, "I was just asking."

Gu Qinghe smiled and shook his head, clearly already quite used to Lin Xingran's behavior.

She turned to look at Ye Yang, her gaze lingering for a moment on the gleaming driver in his arms, before asking, "And what about you? Although it's not for school credits, we can do it another way if you need it—"

Ye Yang smiled, his eyes curving into two shallow arcs, revealing two rather cute dimples, and said in a calm tone, "I don't need it. I'm happy to be able to help everyone today."

Gu Qinghe looked at him and remained silent for two seconds. Then her smile deepened.

She opened the folder, took out a form, wrote a few words, and then looked up at Ye Yang and said, "Is that so? However, according to the regulations, since you, as a non-awakened citizen, stood up for the Silent Beast incident, we still have to award you a bravery award."

She pushed the form towards Ye Yang. "There's a 50,000 yuan reward inside. I know it might not be a huge amount for the Lin family, but it's a token of the police station's appreciation."

Ye Yang stood up from his chair, took the form with both hands, bowed slightly politely, and said in a gentle tone, "Thank you for your hard work."

Gu Qinghe also stood up, placed her hands folded in front of her, gave a slight bow, and said with a smile:

"No, we should be thanking you. If every time there are Awakened Ones, or people like you—" She glanced at the driver in Ye Yang's arms, carefully choosing her words.

"The fact that people with special abilities are willing to step forward to protect everyone is the best news for us. Ordinary people in this city need to know that someone is protecting them."

The male police officer next to him nodded, and a slight smile finally appeared on his serious face.

"Alright." Gu Qinghe picked up the folder and nodded to the three people.

"If there's nothing else, you can leave now. When I came in, I think I saw your parents and sister already waiting outside, probably in the lobby."

The three of them stood up almost simultaneously.

Lin Xingran was the first to rush towards the door, moving as fast as if she were fleeing a crime scene.

"Great, I'm free! My back aches from sitting in this chair! It's even harder than the chair I use in class! Sister Gu, could you please get a better one next time?"

Her voice faded into the distance in the corridor, clearly indicating that she had rushed towards the stairs.

Lin Ying picked up her things from the windowsill, paused at the door, turned around and nodded slightly to Gu Qinghe and the male police officer as a farewell.

Gu Qinghe and the male police officer nodded to her.

Lin Ying turned around and followed her second sister very quietly, her canvas shoes making almost no sound on the floor.

Ye Yang was the last to leave.

He had pushed the drive handle back into place, then wrapped the entire drive unit in a cloth he'd somehow found, and held it in his arms.

As he reached the door, he glanced back at Gu Qinghe and the male police officer, smiled, and then jogged to catch up with the two people in front of him.

After the footsteps faded into the distance, the male police officer looked down at the notebook in his hand, which contained only three lines of text.

He glanced at his notes, then at the direction of the door, and then turned to look at Gu Qinghe.

"How do I write this report?"

Gu Qinghe leaned against the edge of the table, one hand supporting her on the surface, the other rubbing her temples.

She was silent for several seconds, then said somewhat helplessly, "Go back and ask Doubao."

The male police officer paused for a moment, "Doubao?"

"It'll be useful." Gu Qinghe picked up the folder and walked towards the door, a hint of a smile in his voice. "If it's not well written, you can try Qianwen or some other software. Surely one of them will know how to write it."
