The smoke from the factory had not yet completely dissipated.
Several transport planes hovered over the industrial area, each bearing an inverted silver anchor emblem—the silver anchor of the Abyss, symbolizing "no matter how deep, we can pull you out."
The roar of the propellers bounced back and forth between the abandoned factory buildings, making the broken glass on the ground tremble slightly.
The ground was littered with broken glass, shell casings, and empty oil drums overturned by the shockwave.
A few embers still burned stubbornly in the corner, casting flickering light on the charred concrete.
A team of people dressed in dark blue Abyss standard combat uniforms were moving through the ruins in an orderly manner.
Some of the mercenaries' helmets were askew, revealing faces blackened by gunpowder smoke underneath.
Some of the combat uniforms were charred black and were still emitting wisps of white smoke; the smell of burnt fabric could be faintly smelled in the air.
Several of them were soaked to the bone and shivered from the cold morning breeze.
Most of them hadn't recovered from the double blow from Emperor Knight and Dragon Pride, and they all lowered their heads, staring blankly at the tips of their shoes.
The Abyss team members skillfully tied their hands behind their backs, then forced their heads into the armored transport vehicle parked at the factory gate.
The armored vehicle was long and wide, its body covered with thick, dark blue armor plates, and the silver anchor emblem of the Abyss was painted on the side of the door, with a tiny number below the anchor.
A tall woman stood beside the armored truck.
Today she was wearing a fitted, dark blue Abyss uniform, the silver anchor badges on her epaulets gleaming faintly in the morning light.
She wore an extremely thin tactical arm guard on her left forearm, with a rectangular holographic tactical screen embedded in its surface, displaying the real-time coordinates and mission progress of each squad.
Her dark brown short hair was gently brushed past her eyebrows by the morning breeze, the ends neatly tucked behind her ears, revealing her sharp jawline.
Her features were delicate and aloof, and her amber eyes were as clear as tea water pierced by sunlight.
Her skin was very fair, but the old burn scar on her left forearm, which stretched from her wrist to her elbow, added a layer of cold, hard sharpness to her whole appearance.
She was holding a portable data tablet in one hand, her right index finger rapidly swiping across the screen to verify the identity information of each mercenary being escorted onto the vehicle.
Lin Yumin walked out from the side of the factory building, with wisps of black smoke still rising from the building behind her.
Lin Xingran followed behind her older sister. Her wine-red short hair was covered with a layer of ash, but she didn't care at all. As she walked, she fanned away the lingering smoke in front of her, muttering, "This smoke is bigger than the last time I burned down the training ground."
Lin Ying walked at the very back, her silver-white hair slightly disheveled by the wind, a few strands of hair sticking to the corners of her mouth, which she gently brushed away with her hand.
As Su Tan saw them approaching, she smoothly inserted the data plate into the slot on her arm armor, then turned slightly around.
A faint smile appeared on her lips, and then she said in a steady voice, "Lin Yumin, Lin Xingran, and Lin Ying. I have read your reports."
"The 'Quiet Valkyrie' from the Federal First Military Academy, I've seen the video of your national tournament finals. That comeback against three opponents was incredibly exciting, and your tactical judgment is top-notch among awakened individuals of the same generation."
She looked at Lin Xingran and continued, "Lin Xingran has the best fire control talent in the whole school and excellent practical performance, but she also has the most absences from theoretical classes in the whole school."
Lin Xingran's smile froze for a moment, then she scratched the back of her head awkwardly and chuckled dryly.
Su Tan's smile deepened slightly as she looked at Lin Ying.
"Lin Ying, your potential as an Ice-type Awakener is rated S-level, and your combat performance is excellent, but your personality is somewhat introverted, resulting in a slightly lower teamwork score. However, you performed very well in this operation."
Lin Ying was taken aback by the sudden praise. She lowered her head slightly, her ears turning red again, and then whispered, "Th...thank you."
Su Tan smiled, then looked past the Lin sisters’ shoulders and onto the tall figure walking from the other side of the factory behind them.
Long Aotian had just finished helping the Abyss Prison team clean up the remains of the Silent Beasts outside the factory when he saw the Lin sisters there and walked over.
"Long Aotian—the Lord of the Dragon King Palace. I've long heard of your great name, but I didn't expect you to be so young." Su Tan took a half step forward and then extended her hand with a graceful and generous manner.
Her fingers were long and strong, her nails were neatly trimmed and had no fancy decorations, but there was a very thin callus on the outside of her index finger, which was caused by years of pulling the trigger.
"The Dragon King Palace enjoys a high reputation among awakened individuals in the general public. Your several public actions are all recorded in the Abyss Prison System. We also have your personal battle record; although you are still somewhat inexperienced, you are still considered excellent within the Abyss Prison."
Long Aotian was a little embarrassed by her praise. He then clasped his hands in a fist and bowed slightly to Su Tan, replying solemnly, "Hello, sir. Aotian was just doing his duty."
After he finished speaking, he reached out and gently shook hands with Su Tan.
After Su Tan withdrew her hand, her gaze lingered on his face for a moment, and a meaningful smile appeared on her lips.
Lin Xingran moved closer to Lin Yumin, then gently nudged her older sister's arm with her shoulder and said in a low voice:
"Big sister—this Long Aotian is no ordinary person. The deputy pillar chief of Abyss Prison personally praised him, saying he had 'long heard of his great name'—doesn't that mean his file is also in Abyss Prison? Abyss Prison's database isn't accessible to just anyone."
Lin Yumin didn't speak, but simply tilted her head slightly, glanced at Long Aotian with her dark brown eyes, and a faint smile appeared on her lips.
Su Tan glanced around, her amber pupils quickly scanning the still-smoking ruins at the factory entrance in the morning light.
All the peripheral mercenaries have been counted, but there is one person she hasn't seen.
"Where's Ye Yang?" she asked curiously.
No sooner had she finished speaking than a clear voice came from behind her: "Here—who was looking for me?"
Su Tan turned around.
She saw Kamen Rider Decade emerging from the shadows on the side of the factory.
The Imperial Knight's magenta armor reflected a soft glow in the morning light, and he held a magenta rope made of condensed energy in each hand.
The rope pulsed with faint energy in his palm, and several mercenaries with their hands and feet bound were tied to the other end.
The mercenaries' hands and feet were tightly bound, so they could only hop and skip forward like zombies.
A short, stout mercenary jumped so high he almost fell over. Without turning his head, Decade reached out his left hand to help him up and then continued walking.
Several members of the Abyss Prison team were stunned for a moment. One of the younger members couldn't help but glance at the Imperial Knight as he took the mercenary.
He stared at the Imperial Knight's emerald green compound eyes for several seconds until his companion nudged him with his elbow, bringing him back to his senses. He then quickly escorted the mercenary to the transport vehicle.
Su Tan looked at Decade, a hint of undisguised surprise flashing in her amber eyes.
She had read about Ye Yang's transformation ability in the report, "He can switch between multiple armor forms, and his combat power is currently assessed as Super S-class."
But reading a report and seeing it with your own eyes are two different things.
"You're Ye Yang?"
Kamen Rider Decade raised his right hand in a casual greeting, "Hello, sir."
Then he reached to his waist and pulled the Decade Ride Card from the driver slot.
The magenta light particles began to fade layer by layer from the edge of the armor, and after the magenta armor dissipated, the familiar boy's face was revealed underneath.
He had a magenta camera hanging around his neck, and his hair was not very neat, with a few stray hairs sticking up in front of his forehead, probably from being pressed down by the armor when he transformed.
Su Tan walked a few steps to Ye Yang, her amber pupils appearing exceptionally clear at close range.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Su Tan. I am the deputy pillar chief of the Abyss Prison." She extended her hand and introduced herself in a steady voice.
Ye Yang extended his hand and shook hers, then said, "Hello, Commander Su. My name is Ye Yang, Ye as in leaf and Yang as in sunshine."
Then he withdrew his hand and habitually reached into his pocket to rummage around.
He took out his handmade business card, then held both ends of the card with both hands and handed it over.
Su Tan took the business card and then looked down at it.
"Skills mastered: 2000." She read the number softly. Then the crooked smiley face on the business card looked up at Ye Yang's bright eyes.
A faint smile appeared on Su Tan's face. She carefully tucked the business card into the inside pocket of her uniform, then said sincerely:
"Ye Yang, thank you for your help this time. If you hadn't discovered their ambush plan in advance, the convoy might have been attacked halfway there. Your intelligence was crucial."
Ye Yang nodded and said in a light tone, "Of course. Shen Yunzhou's matter was related to me, and I am responsible for cleaning up the mess he left behind."
"Besides, I personally captured Song Zhizhi, whom they want to save. I can't let them take him back. Otherwise, my master will definitely scold me for disgracing him."
Su Tan chuckled softly, then took out a business card from her pocket and handed it to Ye Yang.
When you put that business card next to Ye Yang's handmade card, they look like they come from two completely different worlds.
Her business card was thinner than a regular bank card, but extremely sturdy; it wouldn't deform even when bent forcefully.
The card has a matte finish, giving it a delicate, frosted texture.
The front of the card features the silver anchor emblem of Abyss, with Su Tan's name below it and a number next to it.
What's most special is that there's an extremely thin holographic coding strip at the bottom of the business card, which glows faintly with a pale blue light in the morning light, and different patterns appear when viewed from different angles.
Sometimes it's the anchor of hell, sometimes it's a string of jumping numbers, and sometimes it's a pure, pale blue halo.
"Until we meet again, Ye Yang." Su Tan gave him a gentle smile, then turned and walked towards the armored vehicle.
Her silhouette stretched long and slender in the morning light, her dark blue uniform blending in with the other members of the Abyss Prison team who were also wearing uniforms.
Ye Yang stood at the factory gate, looking down at the gleaming high-tech business card in his hand, and then at Su Tan's departing figure.
Lin Xingran had quietly crept up to his side without anyone noticing.
She tiptoed closer to Ye Yang, her wine-red short hair almost brushing against his shoulder.
Her eyes were wide open, and the corners of her mouth were turned up high; her expression looked extremely exaggerated.
She lowered her voice, but the excitement in her tone was impossible to hide: "Ye Yang! You've made something of yourself!"
Ye Yang was startled by her sudden shout. He took half a step to the side, and the alloy business card in his hand almost fell to the ground.
He quickly clutched the business card between his hands, then blinked, somewhat puzzled, "Successful? Successful in what way?"
"Do you know who that is?" Lin Xingran pointed in the direction Su Tan had left, her tone tinged with disbelief as she continued:
"Su Tan! The second-in-command of the Seven Pillars of Abyss! Codename 'Hawk Eye'—the holder of beyond-visual-range perception and tracking abilities, and the number one ranked sniper in the Federation for years!"
"She joined the army at fifteen and was exceptionally admitted to the Abyss Prison at sixteen. Do you know what the selection and elimination rate is at the Abyss Prison? Ninety-seven percent! She handed you her business card! Do you know what that means?"
With each sentence she spoke, she took a step closer to Ye Yang, forcing him to lean back.
"You saved yourself ten years of trouble! Ten years! Do you even know what ten years means? The first time you met them, they handed you their business card! And it was one of those custom-made business cards with holographic codes!"
Ye Yang tilted his head, touched his chin with one hand, thought seriously for a moment, and then said in a somewhat joking tone:
"No way? You're not saying she's interested in me and wants to keep me as a sugar daddy, are you?"
Lin Xingran's expression froze the moment she heard those words.
Then she took a deep breath, raised her hand, and waved it forcefully, the movement as large as if she were shooing away a buzzing fly:
"Get out of here—what are you thinking?! I'm talking about the Abyss! The Federation's highest-level secret agency! The very best people in the entire Federation's Awakened system are inside!"
"Do you even know where those arrogant elite instructors in the Awakened units come from? They're rejects from the Abyss! They were only assigned to be instructors because they performed terribly, do you understand?!"
"Being a rookie in the Abyss is harder than being an elite outside! You think Su Tan's business card is just given out casually? There's a holographic code on her business card."
"Only those at the Seven Pillars of the Abyss have the authority to issue that code. Having it allows you to bypass all resume screening processes and directly enter the Abyss candidate list!"
"Almost every student council president at our school has tried to get their hands on these business cards, and guess what? They didn't succeed! Not a single one!"
Ye Yang held the alloy business card up to the morning light, and the holographic coding strip refracted a very fine pale blue fluorescence under the light.
