Shenhe turned around and glanced at the people around him.

Suddenly speechless.

The crisis had temporarily subsided, but this group of people were still standing there, and no one went to the other side of the defensive line to kill the zombies.

They were all staring intently at him.

Does he have flowers on his face?

I'm really fed up with these people. I don't know if they're just too thick-skinned or simply stupid.

He was far inferior to Zhang Ran, whom he commanded.

Zhang Ran immediately knew to knock on the fence to lure away the horde of zombies and relieve some of the pressure on this side.

In contrast, this group of people just stood there watching the show.

Shenhe frowned helplessly, looking at the two stunned men closest to him. He held the knife in his right hand and pointed it at the man with the broken leg who was still crying and wailing on the ground.

"Drag him away, find a rope to tie his hands and feet, apply medicine to his wounds to stop the bleeding and bandage them, and send someone to watch him. If he shows any signs of turning into a zombie, kill him."

After speaking, seeing the two still frozen in place, looking bewildered, Shenhe frowned and raised his voice.

"Do as I say! Hurry up!"

"Huh? Oh, oh, oh!"

"Understood, understood! We're coming right now!"

The two men then snapped out of their daze, hurriedly wiping the cold sweat from their faces and palms. They quickly stepped forward, each supporting the injured man's arms, and helped him up, heading towards a lamppost on the side of the road in the residential area. Their plan was to tie him up there first and then treat his wounds at their own pace.

The injured man was covered in sweat, his face was pale and listless. He was being half-carried and dragged along, and blood was still flowing from his broken leg wound, a shocking sight.

The others gradually came to their senses.

Wang Mian, though young, was upright and impulsive, and intolerant of any wrongdoing. After realizing what had happened, he strode towards Shenhe with a face full of anger.

The group, who were originally preparing to return to the defensive line to kill zombies, stopped and stared blankly at the furious Wang Mian.

"Why did you cut off Old Huang's leg? He'd already been bitten by zombies, hadn't he suffered enough already?!"

Wang Mian glared angrily at Shenhe, and impulsively raised his hand to push Shenhe's shoulder.

In his view, this was abuse!

Seeing this, Sun Qi, who was following behind, was so anxious that his mouth gaped open, and he hurriedly shouted, "Wang Mian! Stop!"

He shouted and reached out to pull the person, but the two were a distance apart and he couldn't reach them at all.

Wang Mian was consumed by rage and impulsively occupied the high ground, ignoring all advice and determined to confront them.

Shenhe's face instantly darkened, his eyes coldly fixed on Wang Mian's outstretched hand that was about to shove him.

I'm being really nice to you!

He couldn't be bothered with Tang Dashan's bickering; after all, it was just his subordinates arguing, and nothing serious had happened.

Do you still dare to push him now?

Shenhe reached out with his left hand and swiftly grabbed Wang Mian's outstretched wrist, twisting it outward forcefully.

"ah!!"

Wang Mian's face showed a pained expression, and he cried out. His body involuntarily bent backward due to the twisting force, leaving his chest exposed to Shenhe's eyes.

Shenhe raised his right hand, which was holding the machete, and slammed it down on Wang Mian's chest with the heavy hilt.

"Mr. Shen, please show mercy!"

Sun Qi was terrified, thinking that Shenhe was going to kill Wang Mian, and rushed forward to beg for mercy.

Several of Sun Qi's confidants also gathered around.

At the same time, Zhang Ran, with a cold expression, and Tang Dashan, with an unfriendly look, rushed over to Shenhe's side, their eyes warily fixed on Sun Qi and his group.

"Bang!"

A dull, heavy thud was heard.

The hilt of the knife slammed solidly into Wang Mian's chest.

Wang Mian was so choked by the impact that he couldn't even scream. His body slammed heavily onto the ground.

After a while, it calmed down.

He could barely support himself on one arm, while his other hand clutched his chest, too painful to utter a word. He could only look up at Shenhe River with a frustrated expression, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"Whoosh!"

Shenhe flicked his right wrist, and a gleaming blade instantly appeared beside Wang Mian's neck. The icy edge almost grazed his skin, its intimidating power causing everyone present to freeze in place, and the atmosphere instantly became extremely tense.

Shenhe looked down at Wang Mian on the ground with a cold gaze. "Cutting off his leg was saving him. The zombie virus might not have spread throughout his body. Losing a limb gives him a chance to survive. Haven't you read zombie novels or watched zombie movies? Don't you understand the principle of isolation and mitigation?"

Wang Mian craned his neck, not daring to move an inch.

Upon hearing this, he frowned, his eyes darted around, as if he had realized the key point, and a hint of shame flashed across his face.

But he was stubborn and defiant, still refusing to back down, "Then why did you throw his leg out to feed the zombies? How did Old Huang feel watching his leg being eaten?"

Shenhe's face showed a mocking expression.

"That leg is infected with the zombie virus. Throwing it out will only attract the zombies' attention and save your life. What's the point of keeping it? To make hot pot for you?"

He sheathed his long sword and fixed his gaze on Wang Mian.

"Seeing your sincerity, out of respect for Chairman Sun, and because we are now partners, I've only punished you slightly. But if you dare provoke me again, don't blame me for being ruthless and killing you!"

Wang Mian is a hothead, but not a bad person. He didn't mean any harm to me, so he wouldn't kill innocent people indiscriminately. But some things can only be done once or twice.

Shenhe looked at the stunned crowd, then at the two new men, and gestured with his chin towards Wang Mian.

"Take him away too, don't let him cause trouble here."

Wang Mian's face flushed red, but he stubbornly insisted, "No need for help, I can walk by myself."

He thrashed about on the ground a couple of times but couldn't get up. He had no choice but to close his eyes to block others' view and resigned himself to being helped away by two men who dared not disobey Shenhe's orders, just like they had helped the man with the broken leg earlier.

Although Old Huang's legs were immobile, he moved around incredibly fast, even faster than the two men supporting him.

It seems they wanted to hide as soon as possible.

Sun Qi waved away his men who were surrounding him, ordering everyone to quickly return to the defensive line and continue killing zombies. He then bowed to Shen He in apology.

"Thank you for your leniency, Mr. Shen. Wang Mian is a good person, but he is simple-minded and lacks shrewdness. Please don't take it to heart."

"If I were to argue with him, he would be dead."

"And what about him now?"

"Just go back and rest for a couple of days."

"That's right, it'll be a good opportunity to temper his temper."

Apart from the unexpected incident, the subsequent clearing of the zombie horde proceeded without any further disruption. After killing off a group of zombies while guarding a section of the fence, the group moved to the side in an orderly fashion, steadily advancing their defensive line.

It was clear that after experiencing the life-or-death ordeal, the mindset of this group of people had subtly changed. In the cruel apocalypse, they were being forced to grow up little by little.

It took a full hour to finally eliminate all the hundreds of zombies.

Outside the fence, the ground was littered with the corpses of zombies lying haphazardly, a scene of deathly desolation and utter chaos.

Sun Qi's men stood silently under the fence, gazing at the rows of corpses outside; no one spoke.

The atmosphere throughout the film was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.

"Waaaaah... Waaaaah..."

A suppressed sob suddenly rose from the crowd.
