Zombie Apocalypse: Don't be afraid, I'm not a good person.

Chapter 175 Burning the Spider's Nest

Shenhe and Li Yuetong stood at the intersection, craning their necks and staring intently.

What lay before us was a giant spider web, a circular white net stretching from the street all the way up to the fifth floor of the residential buildings on both sides, completely blocking out the sun and blocking the entire street.

Unlike ordinary spider webs with mesh, this web is so dense that it's like a thick white cloth, with no gaps to be found and not even a wisp of wind can get through.

A long, rectangular opening was cut vertically at the bottom of the net, with neat, smooth edges, clearly made cleanly and precisely by a sharp tool.

Shenhe turned his head to look at the person next to him, and Li Yuetong also looked up at him, revealing a set of neat white teeth, her eyes crinkling with laughter, her curiosity and anticipation barely concealed.

"Want to go in and take a look?" Shenhe smiled and gestured with his chin towards her.

Li Yuetong nodded her head like a chick pecking at rice, "Mmm-hmm!"

Shenhe reached out and parted the edge of the spider web, then stepped inside first.

Li Yuetong quickly followed behind, craning her neck to peek into the shadows.

"Um?"

Shenhe had barely taken two steps inside when he sensed something was wrong. It was incredibly dark inside, with not a single ray of sunlight getting in. An ordinary person who dared to wander in would probably get lost within three steps.

He looked up and instantly understood.

Not only was the intersection blocked by spider webs, but the rooftops of the residential buildings on both sides were also completely covered by the webs, as if a huge, airtight dome had been put over them.

The air was stuffy and heavy, and the temperature inside was at least ten degrees higher than outside.

This is clearly a spider's nest.

The giant garden spider naturally prefers to lay its eggs in hidden places such as cracks in walls and tree bark. This street was completely sealed off, which made it a perfect breeding ground for them. However, these spiders are only a little over a meter long, so why would they need the cracks of an entire street?

"Why don't you go inside?"

Li Yuetong clutched his clothes tightly with one hand, hunched over and shrank behind him, cautiously looking around, her voice low, like a thief.

Shenhe rolled her eyes at her, but unfortunately it was too dark for her to see.

"If you're so scared, what are you doing here?"

"I'm just afraid of spiders... so many legs, just thinking about them makes my skin crawl." Li Yuetong's tone was sweet and clingy as she moved closer to him. "But isn't that what I need? With my husband here, I'd go through fire and water!"

"snort."

Shenhe snorted lightly and didn't reply, but he knew perfectly well what was going on. Going further in? Go my ass!

On his map, the street was covered with red dots from beginning to end, and even the spot where they were standing was already surrounded by red dots.

On a whim, he took out two flashlights from his spatial storage and handed one to Li Yuetong.

The moment the switch was pressed, a blinding white light pierced the darkness, and the surrounding scenery came into direct view.

The street surface, the doors and windows of shops on both sides, the window sills of residential buildings, the street lamp poles...

Almost everywhere, including the air above the streets, was covered with layers upon layers of spider webs, adorned with flat, round, grayish-white egg sacs, so numerous that they were astounding.

The web was teeming with the same gray, large-bellied orb-weaver spiders that had previously chased Li Yuetong, swarming about in dense numbers.

Even more chilling, there were still living zombies hanging on those spider webs.

They were firmly stuck in the spider silk, struggling in vain as spiders surrounded them, their claws devouring their flesh piece by piece.

There were also newly captured zombies, their bodies wrapped in spider silk, being slowly pulled and hoisted towards the center of the web by the spider's tentacles, gradually becoming unable to move.

The flashlight beam swept along the street, revealing rows of egg sacs, each about 1.5 meters tall, standing neatly together along the roadside and in front of shops.

Each egg sac contains at least several hundred spider eggs, and there are countless egg sacs on this street. If they all hatched, how many spiders would crawl out?

No wonder it's so red on the map.

As he looked around, Shenhe's gaze suddenly paused.

Two egg sacs ahead had been punctured, and a pile of round, milky-white spider eggs were scattered on the ground nearby!

Many of them had already broken, spilling a sticky, murky liquid all over the ground, which looked particularly disgusting.

The viscous liquid on the ground was still glistening, sticky and flowing into the cement cracks, looking like it had just been broken not long ago.

Shenhe pursed his lips and turned to glance sideways at Li Yuetong.

Caught red-handed, Li Yuetong shrank back and gave a couple of weak, unconvincing laughs.

"Hehe... I was curious when I came in, so I poked at it a couple of times with the gun, and it broke. Then I got chased by spiders. They're so mean! I didn't do it on purpose!"

So you've ruined someone else's child, anyone would chase you down eight blocks.

Shenhe muttered to himself, his gaze sweeping over the dense red dots on the map, and his mind suddenly became active.

These spiders all over the street, aren't they all just free upgrade materials delivered to our doorstep?

If you want to do it, then do it; if you chicken out, then you lose!

On a whim, he pulled out dozens of cans of gasoline from his spatial storage, piled them gently on the ground, and squatted down to start unscrewing the can lids. "Don't just stand there, hurry up and get started, unscrew all the lids."

"Oh no! Are they going to burn down the spider's nest?"

Li Yuetong squatted down excitedly, her fingers deftly twisting the cap while her mouth chattered, "When I was little, at my grandma's house in the countryside, I loved using a magnifying glass to roast ants and spiders! Honey, did you ever do that when you were a kid?"

"I always pee into ant holes."

"Huh? What a coincidence! I've done that before!"

"Oh? How did you aim?"

"Let's move around and slowly savor it, hehe."

"six."

Within minutes, all the oil drum lids were unscrewed.

The smell of gasoline filled the air, and the two of them even brought their noses close and took a couple of deep breaths; some people just love the smell.

Shenhe picked up the two buckets of oil, turned around and instructed, "You pour gasoline on all the spider eggs around here, and I'll pour it deeper inside. Be careful not to spill it on yourself."

"Okay!" Li Yuetong nodded readily in agreement.

Shenhe glanced around and spotted an open window in the residential building. The window wasn't covered in cobwebs, and it was a perfect spot to step.

"Buzz—"

The figure vanished from the spot, and when he reappeared, he was already clinging to the windowsill with one hand.

I glanced into the house and saw that the kitchen and living room were also densely packed with egg sacs, like small mountains.

He tilted the oil drum inward, and gasoline splashed onto the floor. He poured several drums in succession, watching the liquid seep into the living room along the floor tiles and soak through rows of egg sacs before stopping.

After finishing this job, he continued to teleport around in this huge cocoon-like room, spilling gasoline all over the streets and buildings, filling the air with a strong smell of oil.

Li Yuetong looked up at Shenhe's elusive figure, her eyes filled with envy. This teleportation skill was so coveted.

Despite her envy, she didn't stop working, carrying a bucket of gasoline in each hand and pouring it onto the egg sacs along the street.

After she had finished watering the surrounding area, Shenhe teleported back to her side.

There were still a dozen or so barrels of gasoline left on the ground. Shenhe picked up one of them and threw it onto the net above his head.

The oil drum spun in the air, and the gasoline inside poured down like raindrops, soaking the spider webs and spiders.

The large-bellied orb-weaver spiders on the web sensed the disturbance and instantly sprang into action, crawling densely across the silk threads and making a soft rustling sound.

But the oil drums were falling here and there, smashing into pieces, creating a chaotic mess of noise and spiderweb vibrations, making it impossible for them to pinpoint the location of Shenhe and his companion.

The time is almost right.

Shenhe took out a child's toy firework from his spatial storage and stuffed it into Li Yuetong's hand.

"You order."

Li Yuetong's eyes lit up instantly, as if sparkling with starlight. "Honey, you really want me to order?"

"Um."

"Honey, you're so good to me!"

"Mainly because I don't like playing with fire, and I'm afraid of wetting the bed."

"Ugh! I'm not afraid! I'll do it!"

Li Yuetong gripped the firework, lit the fuse, and the fuse hissed and emitted white smoke. A few seconds later, with a "whoosh," a dazzling flame shot out from the nozzle!

She excitedly glanced back at Shenhe, and seeing him nod in acknowledgment, she immediately stepped forward!

With a flick of the wrist, he gracefully tossed the toss forward in a "scooping the moon from the sea" motion!

Fireworks, trailing a fiery glow, traced an arc as they drifted towards the center of the spider's nest.
