Zombie Apocalypse: Don't be afraid, I'm not a good person.
Chapter 227 Sea Base
The helicopter approached the building again, flying lower and closer than before!
The strong wind from the propeller even changed Shenhe's hairstyle.
Shenhe looked at the rope ladder, didn't even bother with a running start, took a precise aim, and jumped! He landed directly inside the aircraft!
It was only a few meters away. If he didn't want to expose his spatial abilities, he would have teleported up there already!
Liu Ming was holding onto the rope ladder handrail, ready to help, when in a flash he saw that the person had landed steadily in the cabin and even found a seat to sit down.
The driver, Chen Jie, spoke through the headset, "Did he grab the ladder?"
Liu Ming's Adam's apple bobbed as he stared at Shen He's calm profile and managed to stammer, "...Let's go, everyone's already seated."
Chen Jie was surprised for a moment, but didn't ask any questions. He pulled the control stick to adjust the course and flew towards the mission target.
Inside the cabin, Tiger fastened the door shut behind him, and Liu Ming pulled out a pair of noise-canceling headphones from the cabinet and handed them to him.
After Shenhe put it on, the roar of the rotors immediately faded away, leaving only muffled low-frequency vibrations.
"Are you an ice-type ability user?"
The tiger leaned closer, its eyes shining like it had found a treasure, while Liu Ming, standing beside it, also pricked up its ears and stared at it intently.
Shenhe nodded naturally, "Yes."
Tiger and Liu Ming exchanged a glance, both of them very happy.
"Take a rest for a bit, we'll be back at base soon."
Tiger nodded amicably to him, then leaned against the bulkhead with Liu Ming and closed his eyes to rest, without asking any further questions.
Shenhe was riding in a military helicopter for the first time, so he was naturally curious and excited. His eyes swept over the metal walls and the gun parts hanging inside the cabin, and then he looked out the porthole at the rapidly receding building outlines on the ground.
After flying for only three minutes, a communication sound came through the headset.
"Seagull No. 3, mission target lost contact. Mission canceled on site. Return directly to base."
"Seagull No. 3 received, return to base immediately."
As Chen Jie finished speaking, the helicopter slightly turned its fuselage, turned around, and flew in another direction.
The view from above is expansive, offering a panoramic view of the city below.
The city streets, suburban roads, and highways are teeming with hordes of zombies, a dark mass slowly moving along the roads. Only in the more remote villages are the zombies a few sparser.
Not only zombies, but also survivors can be seen running along the way. Some are being chased by zombies and are running for their lives. Some are being chased by huge mutated insects and others have their legs entangled by tangible mutated vines.
Humans, who once stood at the top of the food chain, have become prey in the apocalypse.
The helicopter was extremely fast, and in less than two minutes it flew out of Hanzhou City and into the airspace of a neighboring city.
After that, it flew over a new city almost every few minutes.
This suited Shenhe's wishes perfectly. Large areas of black, unknown regions on the system map were lit up one after another, and several zombie-infested spots suitable for leveling up were marked.
When they passed through two cities that Shenhe did not recognize, Tiger and Liu Ming airdropped two batches of supplies, which landed on parachutes and wobbled towards the ground.
After flying for about twenty-five minutes, the helicopter began to slowly decelerate. Shenhe thought they had arrived at the base, but upon closer inspection, he found that it was hovering on the roof of a high-rise office building, about to pick up several survivors.
There were two men and three women in total. Judging from their clothes, they were all office workers. The men were wearing shirts and suit pants, and the women were wearing suits and pencil skirts. The pencil skirts looked really nice.
The group of people climbed up the rope ladder in a disheveled state, their clothes stained with dirt, their hair greasy and matted, and they could be smelled of sourness from a distance.
As soon as they entered the cabin, they spotted Shenhe, who was sitting with his legs crossed and looking quite composed. He appeared clean and efficient, and his demeanor was extraordinary. The group subconsciously assumed he was a military leader, and they hurriedly nodded and bowed, their faces showing ingratiating smiles.
Shenhe glanced at them, thinking to himself that these people were quite polite.
Upon closer inspection, although the others looked exhausted, they were still in good spirits. However, the thinnest man was pale and his lips were bloodless, which seemed a bit off.
After picking up this group of people, Liu Ming gestured for them to sit tight, and the helicopter accelerated and took off again.
Shenhe noticed that the flight path was getting closer and closer to the coastline.
After flying for about ten more minutes, the land below completely disappeared, leaving only an endless blue sea in sight.
He didn't care where he went; even if he took him to the moon, he could just teleport home. He simply turned his gaze away, leaned back in his chair, and closed his eyes to rest.
After a few moments, the aircraft began to circle and adjust its attitude, and the few survivors in the cabin let out suppressed gasps.
Shenhe opened his eyes and looked down, his heart skipping a beat.
On the vast sea, several enormous ships lay silently anchored.
The transport helicopter that was not small under him looked like a child's toy compared to those warships.
The most conspicuous thing was an aircraft carrier, with a wide deck that could accommodate dozens of aircraft. Shenhe's limited military knowledge only recognized this one.
There were several other ships around the aircraft carrier. He vaguely knew there were frigates, destroyers, and supply ships, but he couldn't tell which one corresponded to which one.
But that didn't diminish the impact on him.
The aircraft carrier is so big that adult men standing on the deck look like tiny black dots.
There was another ship that was quite large, but I didn't see any guns or cannons. From bow to stern, all I could see was a row of large spheres, each one bigger than the last.
At this moment, many people were standing on the deck of the aircraft carrier, including soldiers and ordinary civilians.
Whenever a plane lands, the locals rush forward to help carry away its belongings.
Several soldiers holding signal flags saw their plane and stood on the deck waving the flags to give instructions.
Shenhe couldn't understand flag signals, but he knew that after the other party finished gesturing, the helicopter began to descend slowly.
The plane landed on the deck, and several ground crew members immediately went forward and anchored the fuselage with anchor locks.
As soon as the survivors came down, a female clerk with a registration book came over and asked for their information one by one. When it was Shenhe's turn, the driver, Chen Jie, jumped out of the cockpit and waved to the woman.
The woman glanced at Shenhe a couple more times, then turned and left without asking any more questions.
"Let's go, I'll show you around first to familiarize you with the environment, and then we'll go see the captain to report."
Chen Jie walked up to Shenhe and spoke gently.
Shenhe frowned before he even got off the plane. On the system map, the nearby sea area was covered with red dots, but as far as the eye could see, the sea was calm and there was nothing to see except the salty sea breeze.
This sea looks calm, but who knows what lies hidden beneath its surface.
"What did you figure out?"
Seeing that he was staring at the sea, Chen Jie asked him curiously.
Shenhe withdrew his gaze and said calmly, "The sea looks calm on the surface, but it's very dangerous underneath."
Chen Jie nodded, a hint of envy in his voice, "No wonder you're an esper, you could sense it as soon as you arrived. The things in this sea are much more troublesome than zombies."
They even possess a degree of intelligence, and each attack forces us to pay a heavy price. If it weren't for the presence of a superhuman at the base, we probably wouldn't have been able to hold out long ago.
From now on, this world belongs to you superhumans.
