Zombie Apocalypse: Don't be afraid, I'm not a good person.

Chapter 268 He was happy before, but he was even happier later.

"Come in here for a moment, I need to talk to you about something."

As Jiang Yan passed by him, she didn't stop or even glance at him. She simply said a sentence before lifting the curtain and walking into the inner room of the guesthouse, her tone like a queen summoning her slaves.

After her figure disappeared behind the door, Liu Ming looked at Shen He, who was stunned for a moment, and quickly smoothed things over, "Comrade Shen, please don't take it to heart. Miss Jiang is just like that, cold on the outside but warm on the inside, she's like that to everyone, it's not that she looks down on anyone."

Shenhe shrugged at him, got up and walked into the house.

Do you treat everyone like this? Not me.

Besides, doesn't he know how warm Jiang Yan's heart is?

The wooden stairs creaked as he stepped on them. Shenhe followed the footsteps upstairs and found Jiang Yan standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of a guest room, looking out.

Shenhe didn't say anything, walked to the fabric sofa behind her and sat down. The soft rustling of the fabric startled people. Jiang Yan turned around, and when their eyes met, she was a little reserved, but she didn't show it.

He spoke first, "What is it you want to say?"

Jiang Yan reached into the back pocket of her jeans, pulled out a bag of beef jerky, and handed it to him.

"Here, have this. I'm tired of eating this every day, and it's a shame to throw it away."

Shenhe glanced at her expression.

A woman who says one thing but means another!

She clearly had something delicious to share with him; her eyes were glued to the meat, and she didn't want to look away. Yet, she insisted that she didn't like it. Her acting was adorably clumsy.

Shenhe wouldn't let the beauty's kindness go to waste. He took the beef jerky; the bag still held her warmth. He opened the packaging, tore off a strip, and slowly chewed it.

"Hmm, it tastes pretty good."

As he spoke, he took a piece and placed it near Jiang Yan's mouth.

Jiang Yan subconsciously moved her lips forward, only snapping back to reality when they touched the dried meat. She turned her head to the side, her face flushed, "I'm really tired of eating this. You can just... um..."

Before she could finish speaking, Shenhe stuffed a piece of beef jerky into her mouth. The salty and savory meat flavor spread across her tongue. Jiang Yan was stunned for half a second, but still unconsciously started chewing. The aroma made her squint her eyes.

Shenhe thought to herself, given her childhood upbringing, where even candy wasn't given to her, she certainly wouldn't get any of this beef that cost tens of yuan per kilogram. How could she possibly get tired of it?

Shenhe held the dried meat and fed her one piece after another as she was about to swallow a bite. In the end, Jiang Yan ate the whole small bag of beef jerky.

After swallowing the last bit of meat, Jiang Yan belatedly realized what had happened. Staring at the empty packaging bag in Shenhe's hand, her cheeks flushed red, and she stubbornly said, "I told you I didn't like it, why did you feed it all to me?"

Shenhe chuckled and reached out to ruffle her hair, the soft strands brushing against his palm. "Come on...didn't you ever eat this when you were little?"

Jiang Yan licked the lingering taste from the corner of her lips, shook her head, and lowered her voice, "I've eaten it too. Every time my family stews beef, my brother would secretly hide two pieces in his pocket and bring them out for me."

This was the second time Shenhe had heard her mention her younger brother, and judging from her tone, the siblings seemed to have a good relationship. He suppressed his smile and asked softly, "Where is your brother now?"

The blush on Jiang Yan's face faded completely, her eyes dimmed, and her voice was low. "She was studying in Nandu. The base sent planes to the school to look for her, but the entire school was overrun. They searched every classroom and dormitory, but they couldn't find her. Now they don't even know... if she's still there."

Southern Capital.

Shenhe memorized those two words, then gently patted her arm. "As long as the body hasn't been found, there's still hope. We can go look for it again once things calm down."

He has teleportation abilities, so going anywhere is as easy as playing around.

Jiang Yan remained silent for a long while before shaking her head and wiping her eyes.

"Let's not talk about this anymore. Let's eat and rest for a while. We still have to clean up the city center this afternoon, so I'll be going now."

She strode towards the door with her long legs. As she passed Shenhe, his eyes inadvertently swept over her back, and he suddenly reached out and pulled her back.

"what!"

Jiang Yan was caught off guard by him. When he pulled her, she lost her balance and fell into his arms.

Jiang Yan is a slightly plump and well-proportioned woman with good proportions. She doesn't look fat and feels soft and cuddly when you hug her.

Shenhe glanced at the bright French windows out of the corner of his eye. Before she could struggle to get up, he picked her up horizontally, walked a few steps to the window and put her down. The two of them stood facing the window.

Noticing his gaze and movements, Jiang Yan panicked completely. The courtyard downstairs was full of soldiers eating, which she could see clearly through the glass.

She bit her lip, turned around, and glared at him, her eyes filled with both shame and anger. Her voice was extremely low, "Are you crazy?"

Shenhe's lips curled into a mischievous smile. He put one arm around her waist and pulled her closer, while pointing to the distant, layered green mountains with the other, his tone utterly innocent.

"What are you thinking? I just think the mountain view in the distance is beautiful, and I wanted to look at it with you. Let's turn around."

"what!"

In the courtyard downstairs.

The soldiers were squatting in a circle eating when suddenly two or three of them paused, put down their rations, picked up their rifles, and tensed up.

Those nearby, seeing this and confused, also raised their guns and asked in low voices, "What's going on? Something's up?"

Shh! Listen carefully!

Everyone fell silent, holding their breath and listening intently.

The wind rustled the flowers and plants in the corner of the yard, and apart from that, the surroundings were quiet and there was nothing unusual.

"There's nothing here? What are you listening to?"

"Didn't you hear a single meow?"

"Zombie cat? I didn't hear that..."

"I think I heard a sound too, a faint one, just once, and now there's no more sound."

Two or three people spoke with absolute certainty, while the rest looked at each other in bewilderment. Although most people hadn't heard it, the atmosphere became tense because of the corroboration, and two more sentries were immediately added.

Behind the half-drawn curtains on the second floor of the guesthouse, two figures could be vaguely seen moving around in front of the window. The people inside seemed to have noticed something amiss and were alert to the unusual movements around them.

Twenty minutes passed silently.

The guesthouse door was opened from the inside, and Jiang Yan walked out expressionlessly, her back straight, her pace steady, showing no signs of anything amiss. Her face still held that cold and aloof look, no different from usual.

As she approached the courtyard gate, she stopped and turned back to glance expectantly at the second floor.

Behind the floor-to-ceiling window, Shenhe leaned against the wall with his hands in his pockets, a smile playing on his lips, watching her intently.

Jiang Yan glared at the figure, turned around and quickly walked out of the courtyard, muttering under her breath, "Bastard... I'm never coming back, all he does is bully people."

The person had just turned out of the soldier's sight.

She couldn't hold on any longer, her body swayed and she almost fell over, so she quickly reached out to hold onto the wall next to her.

After a full two minutes, she bit her lip and took small steps forward, supporting herself against the wall. But after only a couple of steps, she felt uncomfortable all over, so she simply activated her mental power and flew into the air towards the next street.

Her curses echoed through the air...

"Disgusting bastard! Rude buffalo!"

On the second floor of the guesthouse, Shenhe watched Jiang Yan's disheveled figure disappear into the distance and couldn't help but chuckle softly.

The warmth of her soft body still lingered in his arms, and the faint fragrance of her hair and body still filled his nostrils.

With a woman like that around, who would want to go out?
