Chapter 112 Dealing with Ota Katsumi and Hiroki Kakutani

When Conan came down from the second floor, those things were still on his mind.

Who exactly was the person Lin Shen shot and knocked off the suspension bridge?

Why would someone secretly cut the rope in such a place?

Does he have a grudge against someone at this resort?

Or is his target actually everyone who wants to cross that bridge?

Conan walked down the stairs, lost in thought.

The lively atmosphere in the living room was immediately apparent.

When he reached the living room door, he realized there were more people than he had expected.

Besides Lin Shen, Xiao Lan, and Yuan Zi, there were four other people sitting on the sofa.

Sonoko's older sister, Ayako Suzuki, was also there. She was wearing a simple off-white knit sweater and sitting on a single sofa with a cup of tea in her hand. Her smile was gentle and quiet, and she was the kind of person who could be told at a glance that she had a very good temper.

The other three people must be her sister's college classmates.

Conan silently walked to a chair and sat down.

He quickly pieced together the basic information from the casual conversation of a few people.

The woman with short hair, dressed smartly, and always speaking with a hint of arrogance is named Chikako Ikeda, and she seems to be a new writer.

The dark-skinned, honest man was named Hiroki Kakutani. He spoke in a soft, hesitant manner, and his eyes always seemed to drift towards Chikako Ikeda. He was clearly a sycophant.

There was also a handsome guy with long hair named Ota Masaru, whose tone revealed an unsettling sense of self-satisfaction.

A few people sat in the living room drinking tea and chatting, reminiscing about their university days and their recent lives.

The atmosphere was fairly harmonious.

Then Ota Katsu glanced at his watch and casually remarked, "It's almost noon, why hasn't Takahashi arrived yet?"

Hiroki Kakutani also said with some doubt, "Could they be lost? Let me make a call and ask."

He took his phone out of his pocket, dialed a number, held the phone to his ear for a moment, then shook his head and put the phone down: "No one answered."

Chikako Ikeda sat on the sofa, legs crossed, and said in a cold tone, "If he's not coming, fine. Let's have lunch first. We don't need to wait for him; we're starving."

Ayako Suzuki gently smoothed things over: "I'll leave Takahashi a lunch in a thermos. Let's eat first."

Conan sat in the corner, and after listening to the conversation, the tension that had been building up inside him finally found a clear direction.

Ryoichi Takahashi.

It's highly likely that he was shot by Lin Shen.

The other party is already soaking in the river water downstream of the valley.

Conan's fingers unconsciously clenched into a fist.

He really wanted to ask, "Does anyone here have a grudge against Ryoichi Takahashi?" But he didn't feel comfortable asking that directly.

He could only keep this question to himself for now, waiting for the right opportunity to bring it up indirectly.

Lunch began in a seemingly relaxed atmosphere.

Ayako Suzuki, Sonoko, and Ran served the dishes one by one to the table.

Roast beef, vegetable salad, creamy baked potatoes, baguette bread, and a big pot of steaming clam chowder.

The dishes weren't particularly luxurious, but they filled the entire long table, making it look both plentiful and cozy.

Ota Masaru must have drunk quite a bit of red wine at the dinner table, because his face was already turning red, his voice was much louder than before, and his slurred speech was also a bit slurred.

As he spoke, his gaze drifted to Yuanzi, who was sitting diagonally opposite him. A smile that made people uncomfortable appeared on his face, and his tone carried a forced, overt familiarity.

"Speaking of which, the last time I saw you, you were still in junior high school. You've grown so much in the blink of an eye!"

As he spoke, he actually reached out and tried to touch Sonoko's head.

Before his hand could even touch Sonoko's hair, a glass of red wine was "accidentally" spilled onto the front of his shirt.

Lin Shen had stood up at some point, holding a wine glass, the empty glass still gently swirling in his hand.

He looked down at the rapidly spreading wine stain on Ota Masaru's chest and said in a very sincere tone, "Oops, sorry, my hand slipped. Here, let me wipe it off for you—"

His movements were so fast that before Ota Masaru could even say "No need," Lin Shen had already grabbed Ota Masaru by the back of his collar and lifted him off the chair like a disobedient poultry.

Then he picked up a clean napkin from the table and casually wiped Ota Masaru's face twice.

It was more like patting his face twice with a cloth than actually wiping it.

Then, Lin Shen shoved Ota Masaru back into the chair.

The whole process was smooth and effortless. Ota Masaru was like a chick caught by an eagle, with absolutely no room for resistance.

He sat in the chair, stunned for several seconds before he realized what had happened.

His face flushed red, and he was seething with anger.

He looked up at Lin Shen, intending to say something harsh to save face.

But when he saw Lin Shen's calm, unwavering eyes, the words that were already on the tip of his tongue were swallowed back down!

Ota Masaru's remaining rationality told him, "Don't do anything rash!!"

If the other party can pick me up like a chick, then they can beat me up however they want!

Ota Masaru forced a smile, his tone deliberately magnanimous: "It's nothing, it's nothing... just a little wine spilled."

His gaze swept around the living room, as if searching for a softer target to save face.

Then his gaze fell on Xiaolan.

Xiaolan was sitting on the sofa on the other side, holding a glass of orange juice, quietly listening to everyone chatting.

Ota Masaru's unsettling smile returned. He stood up, picked up his wine glass, walked over to Ran, sat down naturally, crossed his legs, and said in what he thought was a very dashing tone:

"Xiaolan, why did you come alone? Where's your boyfriend?"

Xiaolan didn't really like it, but she still smiled politely, took a step back, and said, "I... don't have a boyfriend yet."

Upon hearing this, Ota Katsuhiro's eyes lit up: "You don't have a boyfriend yet? What a coincidence, I'm single too!"

He chuckled and leaned closer to Xiaolan. "How about we try dating? Just to gain some experience, no need to take it too seriously—"

When Conan saw this, how could he possibly hold back?

He jumped off the sofa, strode over to Ota Masaru, and stood between Ran and Ota Masaru, saying in his childish voice, "You—"

Before Conan could finish speaking, Ota Masaru reached out, grabbed Conan by the back of his collar, lifted him up, and casually tossed him onto an empty sofa beside him, saying in a nonchalant tone, "Kid, go away and don't disturb the adults' conversation."

Conan was thrown onto the sofa, his face turning red with anger!

But he can't throw a tantrum like a real child; that's not his style.

He could only grit his teeth and get up from the sofa, watching helplessly as Ota Masaru turned back to Ran, grinning as he reached out a hand to put his arm around her shoulder.

The hand was about ten centimeters away from Xiaolan's shoulder.

Then it was grabbed by the other hand.

Lin Shen had already walked to the sofa without anyone noticing.

His right hand gripped Ota Masaru's wrist like an iron clamp, with just the right amount of force, so that Ota Masaru couldn't pull his hand away and was in pain, grimacing in pain.

He didn't waste any words with Ota Masaru. He grabbed Ota Masaru's wrist and lifted him off the sofa, then dragged him to the open French window on the side of the living room.

Lin Shen grabbed Ota Masaru and threw him out the window.

Ota Masaru was thrown out of the window, rolled twice in the yard, and finally crashed onto a neatly trimmed lawn with a scream that was a mixture of pain and exclamation.

Lin Shen stood by the window and clapped his hands: "You seem to have had too much to drink. Go outside and get some fresh air to sober up."

The living room was silent for about three seconds.

Hiroki Kakutani abruptly stood up from the sofa, his expression a mixture of shock and displeasure, his voice several octaves higher than usual: "President Hayashi! How...how could you do this? This is far too rude!"

Lin Shen turned to look at him, his gaze carrying a hint of coldness that was neither a smile nor a frown: "Just now, when he was molesting Xiao Lan, you sat there without saying a word."

"Now that he's been thrown, you're standing up and shouting quite loudly."

He paused for a moment, then added in a nonchalant tone, "Looks like you're all in cahoots."

After he finished speaking, he strode towards Hiroki Kakutani.

Hiroki Kakutani's expression changed instantly.

He backed away, waving his hands frantically in front of him, his voice trembling with panic: "I'm not with him! I just felt—"

Before he could finish speaking, Lin Shen was already in front of him.

Hiroki Kakutani subconsciously raised his hand to resist, but his little resistance was a joke in Lin Shen's eyes!

Lin Shen punched the opponent squarely in the center of his abdomen.

The force was controlled just right, not enough to cause real harm, but enough to cause Hiroki Kakutani's stomach to spasm violently.

Hiroki Kakutani's body instantly arched like a boiled shrimp, his hands clutching his stomach, unable to even utter a sound.

Just like he had dragged Ota Masaru earlier, Lin Shen grabbed him by the collar, walked to another window, and with a flick of his arm, threw him out as well.

Hiroki Kakutani rolled twice on the lawn and bumped into Masaru Ota, who was still lying on the ground next to him. The two of them ended up in a messy pile.

Lin Shen turned around and his gaze fell on Ikeda Chikako, who was still in the living room.

Chikako Ikeda was sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed, a thin cigarette between her fingers, her expression indifferent as if she hadn't seen anything at all.

Meeting Lin Shen's gaze, she exhaled a smoke ring and said in a light tone, "I'm not familiar with him."

Looking at her indifferent face, Lin Shen couldn't help but chuckle softly.

I didn't find it funny, but rather somewhat ironic.

Hiroki Kakutani has been fawning over Chikako Ikeda for so many years, doing her a favor, only to be told by her, "I'm not familiar with him."

All he could say was that Hiroki Kakutani deserved this outcome.

Conan sat on the sofa and watched the whole series of events from beginning to end.

He watched as Lin Shen, without uttering a single word of nonsense, threw the two adult men out of the window.

In the past, he would definitely not have liked such a crude method.

but now!

Conan screamed inwardly: Well done!
