Chapter 134 Breaking into the Metropolitan Police Department with Xiaolan

The two successfully passed through the turnstile and entered the Metropolitan Police Department.

After taking a few steps, Xiaolan quietly let out a long sigh of relief.

Her eyes lit up, a complex mix of "I actually did it" and "This feels so exciting" in them.

Lin Shen glanced at her sideways and chuckled softly, "See? Don't overthink it."

"Being a police officer is just a job, no different from other office workers."

"I clock in for work, slack off and wait to leave, and I'm most afraid of my boss suddenly calling me by my full name."

"Right now, you're just an ordinary colleague in their eyes; no one will bother to investigate you."

Xiaolan nodded seriously.

"Do you know which area the interrogation room is in?" Lin Shen asked.

Ran nodded: "I know. I've come here a few times before with my dad and Shinichi..."

She paused slightly when she mentioned the name "Shinichi," but quickly continued, "It's around the end of the corridor."

"lead the way."

Xiao Lan walked in front, and Lin Shen followed behind her, about half a step to the left.

The two walked slowly down the corridor.

The emergency interrogation room is located at the end of the corridor.

Police officers occasionally brushed past each other in the stairwell.

Some people were yawning while holding thick stacks of documents, some were walking around with coffee cups in hand and staring blankly at the floor, and some were leaning against the wall looking at their phones while waiting for their instant noodles to cook.

As they passed by these people, not a single one of them looked up at them.

Xiaolan's steps went from being slightly stiff at the beginning to becoming much more natural after walking halfway down the corridor.

She realized that Lin Shen was right; no one was paying attention to them.

As they reached the end of the corridor where the interrogation room was located, Xiaolan slowed her pace slightly.

She looked at the several closed doors, her expression somewhat troubled: "This is the interrogation room... but I'm not sure which one it is."

Lin Shen took over the conversation immediately: "Let me handle this."

He walked to the door of the first interrogation room, and without hesitation, pushed the door open and went in.

The door didn't lead to an interrogation room, but to an observation room.

One wall of the observation room is fitted with a one-way mirror, through which a panoramic view of the interrogation room next door can be seen.

A uniformed police officer sat in the observation room, legs crossed, flipping through a comic book magazine.

He was startled when the door was suddenly pushed open. He reflexively shoved the comic book magazines into the drawer, then looked up at the door with a serious, guilty expression.

Lin Shen entered with a very natural smile and asked politely, "You've worked hard, senior. Would you like some coffee? I'm buying some for everyone."

Upon hearing that it wasn't a superior coming to inspect, the officer visibly relaxed, even letting out a silent sigh of relief, and nodded: "Oh... thank you for your help. Two cups, mine with less sugar."

Lin Shen nodded, his gaze sweeping across the observation glass without making a sound.

Through the glass, he saw a bald, middle-aged man sitting in the interrogation room next door, not the target he was looking for.

Without changing his expression, he added, "Okay, it'll be delivered later."

Then he left the observation room and closed the door.

Xiaolan stood in the corridor and saw the whole scene clearly from beginning to end.

As she watched Lin Shen leave the observation room and close the door without changing his expression, she couldn't help but give him a thumbs up and whisper, "Impressive!!"

Lin Shen smiled smugly and then walked towards the second door.

Pushing open the second door, you see a policewoman sitting in the observation room, looking down at her phone.

Using the same line—"Senior, you've worked hard, would you like some coffee?"—Lin Shen successfully deduced that the person being interrogated inside was not Tachibana Maya.

After pushing open several doors, Lin Shen finally found him.

He pushed open the door to the observation room and went inside.

A police officer sitting in the observation room, who was drinking tea, looked up when he heard the door open. Seeing two uniformed men enter, he frowned slightly. "You didn't even knock before coming in? How rude!"

Before he could finish speaking, Lin Shen had already walked up to him, punched him in the stomach, and then, taking advantage of the moment when the other man bent over, struck him on the side of the neck with a palm strike.

The police officer's body went limp.

Lin Shen reached out to support him, gently placing him against the back of the chair so that he appeared to be asleep.

Then he pushed open the door leading to the interrogation room.

The lights in the interrogation room were blindingly white.

The interrogating officers sitting at the interrogation table also heard the door being pushed open.

He turned around, his tone tinged with displeasure at being interrupted: "Hmm? Why did you suddenly barge in? Is something urgent?"

Lin Shen's expression turned serious, and his voice carried the urgency of an emergency: "There has been a major discovery."

Upon hearing this, the interrogating officer's eyes lit up, and he immediately stood up: "What major discovery?"

After he stood up, he took a step forward and moved closer, clearly eager to know what this so-called "major discovery" was.

Once Lin Shen had closed the distance to him, he delivered a clean and precise uppercut to his abdomen, the force of which was just right.

The interrogating officer's eyes widened suddenly, he let out a short, muffled groan, and then his whole body went limp as if a power source had been cut, collapsing onto the interrogation table and passing out completely.

Seeing this, Tachibana Maya exclaimed in surprise, "...Who are you?"

Lin Shen bent down and pulled the handcuff key from the waist of the unconscious interrogator, tossing it to Xiao Lan: "Who we are isn't important, what's important is that we're here to take you out."

Xiaolan caught the key and paused for a moment.

She looked down at the keys in her hand, then looked up at Tachibana Maya's eyes, which were filled with vigilance and scrutiny.

She took a deep breath, walked around to Maya Tachibana's side, and quickly unlocked the handcuffs on her wrists.

With a click, the handcuffs came off.

Tachibana Maya stood up, rubbing her wrists which were red from being handcuffed, her gaze still fixed on Lin Shen's face.

Her tone carried a hint of sarcasm and probing: "Since when did the company start offering rescue services?"

Lin Shen turned and walked towards the door, leaving behind the words, "We'll explain on the way. Now come with us, and be natural."

Maya Tachibana hesitated for about a second before taking a step and following him.

The three men came out of the interrogation room and walked down the corridor toward the stairwell.

Both Maya Tachibana and Ran were on edge.

Maya Tachibana's gaze swept over everyone passing by on both sides of the corridor, like a spring ready to strike at any moment.

Xiaolan wasn't much better off. She felt a muscle twitching in her back, and she always felt that someone would shout "Stop!" from behind her at any moment.

However, after walking for a while, they found that the police officers coming and going were all busy with their own affairs.

Someone jogged past them carrying a stack of documents, someone was scribbling something quickly in a notebook while on the phone, and someone was leaning against a vending machine staring blankly at the labels on the beverage bottles.

Not a single person stopped to give them a second glance.

Maya Tachibana relaxed her pace slightly and muttered with a hint of sarcasm, "Is this all the Metropolitan Police Department's security is capable of?"

Lin Shen replied without turning his head: "It's not that the security level is poor, it's a common trait of corporate slaves—as long as they don't mention their own names, they don't care if the sky falls down."

Maya Tachibana paused for a moment, then scoffed softly and said nothing more.

However, just as they passed the door of the tea room, an accident occurred!
