A black Porsche stopped in front of a traditional Japanese house.

The wheels rolled over the gravel road in front of the door, making a soft, rustling sound.

Lin Shen glanced at the buildings outside through the car window; they were very typical Japanese-style mansions.

Black tiles and white walls, wooden lanterns hanging under the eaves, a dark brown solid wood gate, and two neatly trimmed Podocarpus macrophyllus trees standing on either side.

There's only this one house on the whole street. It doesn't occupy a large area, but the fact that there's such a detached house with a courtyard in a place where land is so valuable speaks volumes.

Shiho Miyano got out of the car and, without saying a word, went straight to the gate and pressed the doorbell.

An aged yet steady voice came from the other end of the walkie-talkie. Shiho Miyano gave her code name and the purpose of her visit.

A few seconds later, the door emitted a low electronic unlocking sound and then slowly opened inward.

As Shiho Miyano led Lin Shen and Akemi through the gate, the moment they stepped inside, it felt as if they had stepped from the streets of Tokyo into another world.

Underfoot is a carefully paved pebble path, and on both sides are meticulously trimmed garden plants.

In the distance, you can see a small artificial hill and a shallow stream, with a stone bridge spanning the water.

The other end of the bridge leads to a wooden teahouse.

Several maple trees are planted in the corner of the courtyard.

Akemi followed behind Shiho Miyano without saying a word, but her eyes were constantly scanning the surroundings.

This is a habit she developed within the organization: whenever she arrives at a new place, she must first confirm the terrain and exits.

Lin Shen walked casually, taking in the surrounding scenery, but it seemed he was approaching it with a tourist's mindset.

An elderly butler dressed in a dark gray kimono emerged from the depths of the garden.

He bowed slightly to the three of them and extended his right hand in a "please" gesture: "Please follow me, gentlemen."

The old butler walked ahead, winding his way through two courtyards along the pebbled path.

The old butler eventually led them to the door of a Japanese-style room. He opened the paper door, revealing a room with tatami mats. In the center of the room was a low table with a pot of tea and several empty teacups on it.

The old butler turned to the side and nodded slightly to Shiho Miyano and Akemi: "Miss Miyano, please rest here for a while."

"The head of the family would like to meet with that gentleman alone first."

His gaze passed over the two sisters and landed on Lin Shen.

Shiho Miyano's tense expression relaxed slightly.

She had initially thought Rum was looking for her sister, but now it seemed that the person Rum truly wanted to see was Lin Shen.

She stood in the corridor, glanced at Lin Shen, remained silent for a few seconds, and finally, considering that he had helped her sister, reminded him, "Don't be impulsive."

Lin Shen couldn't help but smile at her nervous expression, replying in a relaxed tone, "Don't worry, do you think I'm the kind of person who's easily impulsive?"

Shiho Miyano gave him a speechless look.

She had heard about those days from her older sister.

If breaking into the Metropolitan Police Department, blowing up buildings with RPGs, and shooting down Shinkansen bullet trains with a Barrett rifle on a rooftop aren't considered impulsive, then the word "impulsive" doesn't exist.

She didn't say anything more, but gently tugged at Akemi's sleeve, gesturing for her to follow her into the Japanese-style room.

"Be careful," Akemi couldn't help but warn before going in.

The paper door closed behind them.

The old butler turned around, looked at Lin Shen, and without saying anything, simply made a gesture of "please follow me," before continuing to walk forward along the corridor.

Lin Shen followed behind him, passing through corridor after corridor and through two or three small courtyards.

Bamboo is planted in the courtyard, and the bamboo leaves rustle when the wind blows.

After turning another corner, the old butler stopped, stood sideways next to a paper door, and gestured for him to go in.

Lin Shen took off his shoes and stepped onto the wooden planks of the corridor, walked to the paper door, and reached out to pull it open. He

I had barely stepped into the tea room when I caught a glimpse of a dark figure out of the corner of my eye.

A middle-aged man rushed out of the shadows inside the tea room, holding a pistol with the muzzle pressed against his temple.

The cold, metallic touch pressed against his skin.

He didn't look at the man's face, without any hesitation.

Lin Shen flipped his hand, and a Glock pistol appeared in his hand as if by magic.

Aim, pull the trigger—the whole sequence of movements is fluid and swift, like an instinctive reaction rather than a conscious thought.

The distinctive, rapid-fire sound of the Glock was amplified by the rebound from the walls inside the tea room, turning into a deafening thud!

The middle-aged man was thrown backward by the tremendous impact and his heart was pierced.

His eyes widened, his mouth slightly open as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he said nothing and fell backward onto the floor.

Lin Shen looked down at the corpse lying on the ground, its eyes still open.

He carefully examined the middle-aged man, but didn't recognize him. He wondered what had gotten into the man, that he would hold a gun to his head as soon as they met.

At that moment, the door to the tea room next door opened.

A figure walked out unhurriedly. The person looked to be in his fifties, wearing a dark gray kimono, and was bald.

Lin Shen recognized the other person; it was Rum.

Rum frowned, looking at Lin Shen with a serious expression.

Two burly men in black suits behind him had already drawn their pistols and aimed them at Lin Shen!

Rum glanced down at the corpse lying on the floor, his expression remaining largely unchanged.

He was silent for two or three seconds, then looked up at Lin Shen and slowly said in a tone tinged with helplessness:

"His pistol wasn't on safety."

After hearing this, Lin Shen looked down at the pistol that had fallen next to the corpse.

The insurance policy is indeed still closed.

In other words, the other party was just trying to scare him.

Lin Shen raised his head again, met Rum's gaze, and smiled: "I don't know if his gun was on safety or not."

"Nobody in this line of work likes having a gun pointed at their head, right?"

Rum watched him speak calmly, and after a few seconds of silence, a smile appeared on his face:

"You're right, Yamada acted too impulsively."

He added, as if sighing, "I've reminded him before not to act so impulsively, but he just won't listen."

"Now look what happened! You've lost your life too."

He waved his hand, signaling the two burly men in black behind him to dispose of the body.

Two burly men walked over expressionlessly, one lifting the head and the other the foot, and carried the body out of the tea room. Soon, footsteps could be heard outside the door, gradually fading away.

Rum turned around and gestured to Lin Shen to go to the tea room next door.

Lin Shen followed him into another tea room.

This tea room is a bit larger than the previous one, and the paper door is half open, revealing a small dry landscape garden outside.

Rum sat down on one side of the low table, then picked up the teapot and poured two cups of tea, pushing one of them towards Lin Shen.

Lin Shen sat down opposite him, took the teacup, took a sip, and then spoke first, his tone tinged with curiosity:

"I killed your men, and you don't seem to react much."

Rum smiled, picked up his teacup, and slowly blew on it to cool it down.

"Although he is one of my subordinates, according to seniority, he is my cousin."
