I'm in Detective Conan, and I start with the Grand Theft Auto system.

Chapter 203 Conan betrays his mother to get help.

A few days later, one evening, Eri Kisaki finally managed to find the time to come.

She immediately called a moving company to move all the documents and materials from her apartment to Lin Shen's villa.

As for the other furniture and appliances, she chose to pay a moving company to handle them.

Upon arriving at the villa, Eri Kisaki made no attempt to stand on ceremony. After entering, she took a quick look around and chose a south-facing room with the best natural light.

The room's floor-to-ceiling windows face the ginkgo tree in the courtyard, providing good lighting and a wide view.

She nodded, indicating that this was the room, and then had people move boxes of documents and materials inside. Soon, the shelves, which occupied half a wall, were neatly arranged with case files, legal documents, and reference books.

Akemi brought in tea and, seeing Eri Kisaki had just finished unpacking, smiled and suggested:

"Attorney Fei, how about we throw you a welcome banquet in a few days?"

Eri Kisaki was squatting on the ground unpacking a cardboard box when she heard this. She looked up, a sincere and apologetic smile on her face.

"Ms. Mingmei, I'm so sorry, but I'm really too busy with cases lately, and I'm afraid I won't be able to find the time."

"Besides, the welcome banquet was far too extravagant. A simple meal would have been fine."

Mingmei didn't show any displeasure; she still smiled and replied casually, "Okay, whatever you say, Attorney Fei!"

Eri's phone rang at that moment.

She glanced down at the screen, her brow furrowing slightly. After listening for less than twenty seconds, she answered with a few crisp "Okay," "I understand," and "I'll be right there," before hanging up.

She put her phone back in her pocket, gave Akemi an even more apologetic look, and spoke a few seconds faster than before: "Ms. Akemi, there's an urgent matter at the firm, I have to go there right away."

I'm skipping dinner.

After saying that, she picked up her suit jacket draped over the back of the chair, grabbed her bag, strode to the entrance, bent down to change into her high heels, and pushed open the door to go out.

As Akemi watched Eri leave in a hurry, she couldn't help but sigh softly.

She went back to the kitchen, turned the heat down a bit, and was hesitating whether to put the vegetables away and wait for Lin Shen to come back when she heard the sound of the door opening.

Lin Shen is back.

He tossed the keys into the tray in the entryway, changed into slippers, and walked into the living room, casually asking, "Attorney Fei, you're out again?"

Mingmei poked her head out of the kitchen, nodded, and said with a helpless smile, "Yeah. I just put my things down when I got a call saying there was an emergency at the firm, so I left without even having dinner."

"You're so busy so late."

Lin Shen shook his head: "Work is something you can never finish."

He walked towards the restaurant, pulled out a chair, and sat down. "Forget about them. Let's eat first, I'm starving."

Mingmei responded and turned to serve the rice and dishes.

Just as she brought the miso soup and braised beef to the table, Lin Shen's phone rang again.

He glanced down at the screen; the caller ID showed a number he had saved but rarely saw: Conan Edogawa.

He raised an eyebrow, pressed the answer button, and before he could speak, a low but urgent voice came from the other end of the line:

"President Lin! Help! We're surrounded by robbers!"

Lin Shen almost burst out laughing. He leaned back in his chair, his tone carrying a leisurely air of anticipation:

"Hey Conan, shouldn't your first reaction to something like this be to call 110 (the police emergency number)? What's the point of calling me? I'm not a police officer."

Conan on the other end of the phone was clearly extremely anxious; his voice was even lower, but his speech was faster: "Wait for the police to arrive? It'll take at least half an hour!"

"By the time they arrive, our bodies will be cold!!!"

Lin Shen reached out and picked up a piece of stewed beef, put it in his mouth, chewed it twice, swallowed it, and then slowly spoke:

"That's true, but the problem is I'm having dinner."

"It'll take at least half an hour for me to finish this meal, won't it?"

"When I get there, I'll just be there to collect your corpses!"

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone.

Then Conan's voice exploded out, filled with disbelief, shock, and anger: "No way, President!"

"Human lives are at stake! The lives of four children are in your hands! How can you even eat?"

Lin Shen smiled and said nonchalantly, "What does it have to do with me? It's not like I'm pointing a gun at them. Why can't they eat it?"

Conan nearly ground his teeth to powder on the other end of the phone.

He realized something profoundly: trying to morally blackmail a ruthless killer is like casting pearls before swine!

This person truly has no moral conscience!

He quickly adjusted his strategy, his mind racing, and then he thought of Lin Shen, that greedy and lecherous guy!

He had no money, but he also had no lust...

However, he didn't have one, but his mom did!

Conan gritted his teeth, silently saying in his heart, "I'm sorry, Mom," then took a deep breath and spoke in a seductive tone:

"President Lin, let me introduce you to a beauty! A stunningly beautiful woman!"

"Do you know Yukiko Kudo? She was the most popular actress over a decade ago! She was incredibly beautiful!"

"That's my aunt! If you rescue us, I can introduce you!"

Lin Shen was drinking miso soup when he heard this, and the bowl paused for a moment at his lips.

Then he slowly put down the bowl, a meaningful smile playing on his lips: "Your suggestion... does indeed tempt me a little."

He put the bowl on the table, his voice crisp and decisive, "Okay, send me the address."

Conan blurted out almost ecstatically on the other end of the phone, "We're on the sixth floor of the department store!"

"Hurry up! There are a lot of them! They're already searching floor by floor!"

After listening, Lin Shen only said "ten minutes" and then hung up the phone.

He stood up and said to Mingmei, "I'm going out to rescue someone. I'll be back to eat later."

Akemi didn't ask any further questions, simply nodding and gently reminding him, "Okay, sure. I'll save the food for you. Be careful on your journey."

Lin Shen waved his hand, picked up his coat, and went out the door.

After the villa door closed, the living room fell silent once more.

Mingmei stood beside the dining table, looking down at the food that hadn't been touched much, then looking up and around the spacious but empty villa.

Although many more people now live in this house, it still feels very deserted.

Yoko Okino would occasionally come back to stay for a few days, but after a few days, she would rush off to catch up on her schedule again.

Needless to say, Attorney Fei went out again as soon as she put her things down, without even eating dinner.

They are all very busy people, leaving early and returning late every day.

Although the house was large, it was still quiet and deserted most of the time, with only her guarding the large table of food and the entire quiet house.

Akemi sighed softly and muttered to herself, "Should we find some more people to move in?"

She shook her head, gathered up her thoughts, covered Lin Shen's food to keep it warm, then sat down herself, picked up her chopsticks, took a piece of stewed beef, and ate it slowly.

She felt more and more that it was indeed time to add more life to the house.

Otherwise, this place would be too deserted!

I can't even talk to anyone when I eat a meal by myself!
