Chapter 270 Vermouth's Mischief
Kogoro Mouri stared at the beautiful woman for a long time until his eyes got sore.
He looked away, took a swig of beer, and smacked his lips. "I say, President Lin, you've come all this way to Okinawa, and you're just holed up in the hotel? How boring!"
He glanced furtively back at Ran and Eri by the pool, then lowered his voice, "When I was shopping today, I saw a bar near American Village called Oppai Bar!"
"Listen to that name! It sounds really cool! Want to go check it out?"
Lin Shen smiled and waved his hand, "Mr. Mori, you go ahead, I won't go."
He wasn't pretending to be high-minded; he genuinely wasn't that interested in the matter.
To put it bluntly, he's not short of women, and his needs have long been met. There's no need for him to go to bars and drool over strange women.
Besides, he has important business to attend to that evening, and he can't go out to do business while drunk, can he?
Seeing his refusal, Kogoro Mouri didn't press the matter, and cheerfully slapped his thigh: "Fine! I'll go by myself then!"
"Oh, and if Ran and Eri ask about it later, just say I went to a bar for drinks, understand?"
Lin Shen nodded: "Don't worry, I know what to say."
He thought for a moment, then reached out and grabbed Kogoro Mouri, took out a wad of bills from his pocket, and stuffed them into his hand: "Mr. Mouri, here you go, have fun."
Kogoro Mouri glanced down and his eyes lit up immediately: "Oh dear! President Hayashi, I'm so sorry to have troubled you... How about this, consider it a loan, I'll definitely pay you back later!"
Lin Shen waved his hand: "Alright, alright, just have fun."
Kogoro Mori then pocketed the money with satisfaction and ran off happily.
Lin Shen watched his cheerful figure as he walked away and couldn't help but shake his head.
This guy has been holding back for too long.
A grown man, completely controlled by his daughter, even having to sneak around like a thief to drink alcohol.
This world is really harsh on honest people.
Good deeds don't always go unrewarded.
If good people could all live comfortably, then there would be many more good people in the world.
As he was lost in thought, he suddenly realized something was wrong.
His gaze swept across the lobby and he noticed a waiter standing by the bar, with a black man beside him.
The waiter had his head down, his mouth opening and closing as if he were saying something.
As he spoke, his gaze would occasionally drift towards the swimming pool.
On the other side of the pool, Ran and Eri were climbing ashore.
The Black man followed the waiter's gaze, then looked away, nodded, as if confirming something.
Lin Shen frowned slightly.
But he didn't move; he simply memorized the waiter's face.
Not long after, Ran and Eri came out after changing their clothes.
Xiaolan looked around while drying her hair: "Hmm? Where's my dad?"
Lin Shen casually made up a story: "Mr. Mori said he went to a bar for a drink."
Xiaolan sighed, "It happened again... Couldn't he just stay put for one more night?"
Eri Kisaki didn't react much, glancing at the time: "Alright, it's getting late. We need to get up early to watch the sunrise tomorrow, let's go back and rest."
The three of them took the elevator, arrived at their floor, and went back to their respective rooms.
Ran and Eri entered the room, and Ran took her change of clothes and went into the bathroom.
Eri sat on the edge of the bed and took out the things she had bought during the day and sorted them out one by one.
I was tidying up when the doorbell rang.
Ding-dong-
Eri Kisaki got up, walked to the door, and glanced through the peephole.
A hotel staff member in uniform stood outside the door, holding something in his hand. "Hello, I'm a hotel staff member. Did you leave a bracelet by the pool earlier?"
He raised his hand, revealing a silver bracelet.
Eri Kisaki glanced at it and realized it really was Ran's.
She hesitated for a moment, then reached out and unlocked the door.
The door had barely opened a crack when it was violently slammed open by a great force!
Four black men suddenly rushed in, their imposing presence like four moving walls of flesh.
Eri Kisaki staggered back several steps after being bumped, and her expression immediately changed!
She recognized them; they were the American soldiers she had encountered on the street that evening!
The bald man in the lead slammed the door shut, a vicious smile on his face: "Bastard! A Japanese guy, how dare he lie to us?"
Another Black man sneered, "Exactly, pretending to be Chinese? You've got some nerve!"
The third Black man glanced over Eri Kisaki and chuckled, "I'm the first one here!! Don't anyone try to take me!"
He had barely finished speaking when—bang!
A muffled thud.
The black man tilted his head back, revealing a bloody hole in his forehead.
His eyes were still wide open, as if he hadn't even realized what was happening, before he fell backward and hit the floor with a dull thud.
The air fell silent instantly.
The remaining three Black men froze.
Eri Kisaki was also stunned.
They slowly turned their heads and saw a man in a casual shirt standing in the doorway.
Lin Shen, one hand in his pocket and the other gripping a silenced pistol, leaned against the doorframe, a half-smile playing on his lips: "Fine, I'll grant your wish. You're the first!"
"You actually came to our door? You've got some nerve."
One of the Black men was the first to react, both shocked and furious. He pointed at Lin Shen and yelled, "You! You fucking dare to shoot?! Do you know who we are? We're the US military!"
Another shouted, "You're attacking the US military! Do you know the consequences?!"
Lin Shen chuckled softly, "So what?"
He raised his hand, bang bang—
Two more muffled thuds followed.
The two Black men fell to the ground with a thud, twitched twice, and then remained motionless.
The remaining bald man seemed to have lost his soul; his knees buckled, and he knelt down on the carpet with a thud.
He was trembling all over, his mouth trembling as he stammered, "No...don't kill me...we just drank too much..."
Lin Shen slowly walked over, looked down at him, and asked calmly, "Who sent you?"
The bald man looked up in terror: "We came on our own! Nobody ordered us to!"
Lin Shen raised an eyebrow, raised his hand, and fired two shots, hitting the man's wrist.
The bald man let out a scream, his hands trembling, blood dripping onto the carpet and spreading into a dark patch.
"Tell me the truth, who sent you here?" Lin Shen asked, his tone unchanged.
Baldy's face was contorted with pain, and his voice trembled: "Really...really not! It was us..."
Lin Shen glanced at him and didn't ask any more questions.
He raised the gun and aimed it at his forehead.
boom--
The bald man also collapsed.
The room fell completely silent.
Eri Kisaki leaned against the wall, her face slightly pale, but she quickly regained her composure.
She adjusted her glasses, trying to make her tone sound calm: "...You've been following us?"
Lin Shen put away his gun and nodded: "I'm worried about you guys."
He glanced again at the corpse on the ground. "Scared?"
Eri Kisaki took a deep breath and stubbornly said, "I've seen this kind of scene many times."
Lin Shen didn't expose her, and smiled: "Alright, then you go in and take a bath with Xiao Lan now! Don't let her come out and see this. I'll have someone take care of it."
Eri didn't ask any further questions. She took her change of clothes, turned around, pushed open the bathroom door, and went inside.
Lin Shen then took out his phone and dialed a number.
The phone rang twice before being answered.
He said with a hint of amusement, "Come out, Vermouth. I know it was you who did this."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by a soft chuckle: "President Lin, I knew I couldn't hide it from you."
The sound wasn't far away; it was just around the corner of the corridor.
Lin Shen turned his head and saw the "waiter" slowly walk out, take off his hat, and reveal short blond hair.
Vermouth tilted her head and smiled, "I knew it. This little trick might fool others, but it won't fool you."
Lin Shen put away his phone: "Did you instigate those American soldiers?"
Vermouth shrugged: "I didn't really instigate it."
"Just tell them that those two beautiful women are Japanese."
"Their eyes lit up when they heard that. What does it have to do with me?"
Lin Shen glanced at her sideways: "You sure know how to shift the blame."
Vermouth's smile widened: "I'm just helping you out like a hero."
She glanced at the four corpses on the ground, took out her phone, and made a call: "Come up here. Get rid of these four people within fifteen minutes. Also, change the carpet so they don't frighten my guests."
