I'm in Detective Conan, and I start with the Grand Theft Auto system.
Chapter 65 Asai Narumi, help me ransack the house!
Around six or seven in the evening, the restaurant at Moon Shadow Island Hotel was brightly lit, and the aroma of seafood filled the entire hall.
Lin Shen and the others had changed into casual clothes and were sitting at a long table by the window.
Outside the window was the dark sea, and in the distance, the lights of a few fishing boats could be faintly seen swaying on the crests of the waves.
Conan and Kogoro Mouri, who had been running around all day, had just met up with them. Both of them were slumped in their chairs, not wanting to say a word, as if they were about to die of exhaustion at any moment.
However, as soon as the dishes were served, Kogoro Mouri immediately came to life.
The table was covered with fresh seafood that had just been caught from the sea that day.
Steamed crabs, salt-grilled prawns, sashimi platter, garlic scallops, a large pot of miso seafood soup, and several grilled saury.
Without saying a word, Kogoro Mori broke off a crab leg, dipped it in vinegar, and stuffed it into his mouth. With his other hand, he picked up the chilled beer that the waiter had just brought, gulped down a big mouthful, and then let out a satisfied sigh.
Lin Shen sat opposite him, looking at him like this, and couldn't help but feel admiration.
This guy's got guts.
They even dare to eat this kind of gout-inducing meal.
Crabs, shrimp, and beer are all high in purines; he's really not afraid of his toes hurting so badly in the middle of the night that he's rolling around in bed in pain.
However, Lin Shen didn't intend to remind him. After all, he was a famous detective who had been injected with thousands of anesthetic needles without any problems. His physical condition was extraordinary, and a mere gout treatment was nothing to him!
He picked up a piece of sashimi, dipped it in soy sauce, and casually asked, "Mr. Mori, how's the investigation going today? Any leads?"
With his mouth full of crab meat, Kogoro Mori mumbled, "We have the results, but we need to investigate for a few more days."
"This case is a bit more complicated than I imagined; it involves quite a few things."
Lin Shen nodded, not asking any further questions, and said in a relaxed tone, "No rush, it's only the first day anyway. You guys take your time investigating, we'll take our time having fun."
Conan sat next to Ran, a shrimp dangling from his lips, but his eyes darted around.
He asked in a childlike, innocent tone, "Sister Xiaolan, where did you go to play today?"
Ran was carefully peeling the shell of a large lobster. After peeling it, she naturally divided it into two parts, putting one part on Kogoro Mouri's plate and the other part in Conan's bowl.
She replied with a smile, "We played volleyball on the beach for a while, and after resting, I went scuba diving with Mingmei!"
Her eyes lit up when she talked about diving, "Conan, you have no idea how beautiful the underwater world is!"
"So many colorful fish, and coral reefs! When the sunlight shines through the water, the entire seabed glows!"
"If you're free tomorrow, how about we go out and have some fun together?"
When Conan heard the first part of the sentence, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief—thank goodness, it was just volleyball and diving, nothing out of line happened.
But upon hearing the invitation in the second half of the sentence, he shook his head: "I might not be free tomorrow... and I don't know when the case will be finished."
Xiaolan didn't insist, and smiled, saying, "It's alright, I'll just go for a walk with Mingmei and President Lin! You guys focus on investigating the case!"
This relieved Conan, who suddenly realized that it wasn't such a bad thing that Lin Shen and Mingmei came together.
At least Xiaolan won't nag them to accompany her around, allowing them to focus on investigating the case.
As dinner was nearing its end, Mingmei wiped her mouth and excitedly took Xiaolan's hand: "Let's go, Xiaolan! I just saw a specialty products section in the hotel lobby, let's go check it out!"
Xiao Lan's eyes lit up, and the two women immediately went into "buy, buy, buy" mode, walking hand in hand towards the hotel lobby.
Kogoro Mouri had been running around all day, so he wasn't going to go shopping with those two.
He grabbed the few cans of beer he'd bought at the convenience store, yawned, and went back to his room to take a shower.
Conan was also exhausted; he had been running all day and his calves were sore, so he followed Kogoro Mouri upstairs.
After bidding farewell to everyone, Lin Shen walked out of the hotel with his hands in his pockets, turning into the Moon Shadow Island path in the night.
It's time to get down to business.
--------
The lights in the Asai Clinic were still on.
Asai Narumi was sitting behind the front desk, holding a piece of paper in her hand, but her eyes were not focused on the paper.
Her mind wasn't on that at all.
She was thinking about her next plan.
She had rehearsed each step countless times, but when it came to actually taking action, her heart was still beating much faster than usual.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Someone pushed the door open and came in.
Asai Narumi quickly composed herself, raised her head, and gave the newcomer a professional smile.
The newcomer was a young man, dressed casually, tall and slender, with a half-smile on his face, who didn't seem to be sick.
"Welcome." She maintained her smile and asked gently, "Excuse me, sir, are you feeling unwell?"
Lin Shen sat down in the chair in front of her and smiled, "I feel fine."
He paused for a moment, then said, "I came here hoping Dr. Asai could do me a favor."
Asai Narumi tilted her head slightly, her gaze filled with doubt: "What kind of help?"
"Help me search their house," Lin Shen said.
Asai Narumi's smile froze on his face.
She wondered if there was something wrong with her ears, and couldn't help but lean forward slightly, her voice tinged with uncertainty: "You...you say it again?"
Lin Shen leaned back in his chair, his tone unhurried, and repeated, "You heard me right. Help me search my house."
Asai Narumi was completely dumbfounded.
She didn't recognize the man in front of her at all.
In all her years of practicing medicine, she had never seen a patient walk in and ask someone to search their home.
Could he be mentally ill?
Or is he a heavy user?
She quickly shook her head and waved her hands repeatedly, saying, "This... I can't help you... You've come to the wrong person."
Lin Shen's smile deepened as he looked at her vehement denial.
He said calmly, "How could you possibly not be able to help? Dr. Asai... or rather, Ms. Asai Minoru!"
"Helping me is helping yourself. Don't you want to avenge your father?"
Asai Narumi's pupils suddenly contracted.
In that instant, all the color drained from her face, and she froze as if nailed to a chair.
Her hand unconsciously tightened its grip on the ballpoint pen.
Her lips moved slightly, her voice trembling: "What...what are you saying...I don't know..."
Lin Shen was too lazy to keep arguing.
He pulled a revolver from his waist and slammed it onto the desk with a light tap, the dull thud of metal hitting the wooden surface echoing in the quiet consultation room.
Asai Narumi's voice stopped abruptly, his gaze falling on the gleaming revolver, and his breathing became rapid.
"Alright, stop pretending." Lin Shen said bluntly, "Ma Sheng, it's true, I need your help."
"You've been secretly investigating those who killed your father for quite some time now, so you must have a lot of information about them."
"Those guys from Black Rock Village have made so much dirty money from drug trafficking over the years. You must know where they hid that money."
Asai Narumi remained silent for a long time.
Her gaze slowly rose from the pistol and landed on Lin Shen's calm face.
She looked into his eyes, trying to find a flaw, a hint of malice, or a trace of unreliability.
But she found nothing.
There was only a steadfast composure in those eyes.
After a long while, Asai Narumi finally spoke, her voice now calm but still tinged with an undeniable hoarseness: "Who exactly are you?"
Lin Shen's smile faded, and he looked at her seriously, saying, "Someone who wants to make a fortune and, incidentally, get revenge for you!"
He was telling the truth.
His trip to Moonshadow Island was just a side trip.
His real target was the drug cartels.
Those people have been living off drugs on the island for so many years, they must be rolling in money.
If we don't take this opportunity to ransack their house, it would be an absolute injustice!
