Life countdown begins, ice queen bursts into security room

Chapter 64 Sister Nian loves to eat cashews

For the next few days, Shen Nian would appear at the recording studio on time.

Enter at 2 PM and leave at 6 PM.

Except for drinking water and taking medicine, he never left that room.

Zhou Yutong would bring her fruit and nuts every afternoon at 3:30, placing them on a small table outside the recording studio.

The first day consisted of sliced apples and strawberries. The apples were untouched, but two strawberries were eaten.

The next day I put a bag of salted cashews in the pan, and when I came back, it was empty.

Zhou Yutong made a note in her memo: Sister Nian loves to eat cashews.

Just before the end of the workday, Li Cheng rushed back from outside, carrying a document in his hand.

He pushed open Jiang Fan's door.

"Sheng Hai has given his word."

Jiang Fan put down his pen.

"Hua Xingyu agreed to appear on camera to apologize. But they have one condition—the video must be no longer than fifteen seconds and the content must be jointly reviewed by both parties' lawyers."

"Can."

Li Cheng raised an eyebrow. "You agreed so readily?"

"The key isn't how long he says it will take, it's that he has to show his face."

Li Cheng thought for a moment and nodded.

Hua Xingyu's face, presented to the camera with his apology, had a far greater impact than a 10,000-word written statement.

When will they record the video?

"Sheng Hai's idea is that the sooner the better; every day it drags on, it costs more money." Li Cheng slammed the documents in his hand on the table. "Cao Qiming now wishes the name Hua Xingyu would disappear from the face of the earth."

"What about the compensation?"

"Of the 26 million, after deducting lawyer fees and litigation costs, Shen Nian will receive about 23 million."

Li Cheng pulled up a chair and sat down. "How do you plan to tell her?"

"Wait until the apology video is released before making any decisions. Don't give her false hope before things are settled."

Li Cheng nodded, then paused. "There's something else."

"explain."

"The copyright bureau has already filed a case against Chen Weiyang's 'Acacia'."

Jiang Fan leaned back in his chair.

This issue started to escalate last week.

Xu Qingya's agent, Chen Lan, packaged up the original creation timeline of "Red Bean" and the internal process of Chen Weiyang's access to the demo during his time at Tianyu Media and handed it over to the copyright bureau.

The chain of evidence is too complete.

"And what was the Copyright Bureau's conclusion?"

"The core melody of 'Longing' is highly similar to that of 'Red Bean.' It is characterized as substantial similarity, constituting infringement. This morning at 10:00 AM, it was simultaneously removed from the three major platforms."

"How are the sales of Hsu Ching-ya's new album?"

"See for yourself." Li Cheng handed over his phone, the screen displaying Weibo's trending entertainment news.

First item: #Xiangsi (a type of acacia) suspected of plagiarizing Hongdou (another type of acacia) and removed from shelves#

Article 3: #Xu Qingya's Red Bean album sales surpass 80 million#

Article 4: #Xu Qingya's new album has three songs simultaneously topping the charts#

Jiang Fan returned the phone to Li Cheng.

"On behalf of the company, congratulate Qingya."

Li Cheng glanced at him sideways. "Can't you use WeChat yourself?"

Jiang Fan didn't reply, and turned his attention back to the computer screen.

Li Cheng wisely refrained from asking further questions and left with the documents.

Friday.

The apology video by Hua Xingyu was filmed in a small conference room at Shenghai Entertainment.

Jiang Fan didn't go; Li Cheng arrived at the scene with his lawyer.

After returning, Li Cheng copied the video and showed it to Jiang Fan.

On the screen, Hua Xingyu sits in front of a gray background.

I've lost a lot of weight.

Her face, which used to be smooth and shiny on the show, now has prominent cheekbones.

"I am Hua Xingyu."

His first words were hoarse.

"I hereby publicly apologize to Ms. Shen Nian. In 2013, without Ms. Shen Nian's authorization, I appropriated her song 'Stars' and published it under my own name. This act seriously infringed upon Ms. Shen Nian's copyright and right to reputation."

Hua Xingyu paused for a moment after reading this.

The camera captured his hand, resting on the table, his fingers trembling.

"I am deeply sorry for the harm my actions have caused to Ms. Shen Nian."

With the last sentence spoken, the video ends here.

It lasted fifteen seconds.

Jiang Fan unplugged the USB drive.

When will it be released?

"The lawyer suggested waiting until next Monday, after the court confirms the settlement agreement, before issuing it. It's a safer process."

"OK."

Jiang Fan put the USB drive into the drawer.

"When it was posted, Shen Nian's account also forwarded it."

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Jiang Fan's phone rang.

It's Zhang Lei from Tencent Music.

"Jiang Fan, we're on the same schedule as you." Zhang Lei's tone was much more polite than last time. "Your songs have all passed the review and master tape quality inspection, and they will be released in batches over the next three days."

"How were the scheduling determined?"

"Tomorrow we'll release 'Sorrow,' 'The Ordinary Road,' and 'Under the Sea,' and next week we'll release 'Blue and White Porcelain' and 'Nocturne.' Our operations team has developed a data prediction model and suggested releasing 'Blue and White Porcelain' and 'Nocturne' on a separate day because these two songs have the largest potential user base, and releasing them separately will maximize the number of plays on the first day."

Jiang Fan thought for a moment. "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Fan leaned back in his chair and did some calculations.

Penguin Music's revenue sharing will be 80/20. Based on the current popularity, the revenue from streaming alone will be at least several million a month.

Fanyin Culture's accounts are finally no longer a source of anxiety.

That evening, Jiang Fan sat in the living room of his apartment, and the system's online store appeared before his eyes.

He was looking for songs for Su Yuyan.

I promised to give her another song last time.

Jiang Fan scrolled through the list for more than twenty minutes and finally found a song in the store.

"The Wind Blows".

He stared at the screen for a few seconds, then clicked to listen to the preview.

The moment the intro started, he tapped his fingers twice on the table in time with the rhythm.

The melody of this song, paired with Su Yuyan's alluring gaze...

Two top female stars going head-to-head—it's exciting just to think about it.
