Country Love: Xie Dajiao, 37, is pregnant!

Chapter 4 I like mature people who are caring.

Lin Chen looked at her, a casual smile playing on his lips, speaking without any pretense:

"No need, sis. I don't really like ordinary young girls. They're too naive and immature, they don't know anything. I like mature girls who know how to take care of others, especially someone like you, who knows how to change positions as soon as you pat your butt."

Xie Dajiao's heart skipped a beat, and she panicked a little. She quickly scolded:

"You're talking nonsense, kid! I'm so much older than you, I've been through so much, how can I compare to a little girl?"

"Age is not a problem, you don't look that old."

Lin Chen's eyes were frank and straightforward, and he spoke more and more freely:

"Besides, older girls are more sensible, considerate, and know how to care for others, unlike those young girls who are just being pretentious. You look young, and you have a great figure and skin. You're much more attractive than girls in their early twenties. To be honest, none of the young girls in the village can compare to you."

"You've been living like a widow for so many years, and your man doesn't know how to cherish or pamper you at all, but I do. I can tell clearly who is good and who is bad."

These blunt and explicit words made Xie Dajiao feel hot all over. She didn't know if it was because of the high temperature outside, but her face turned completely red and her heart was pounding wildly.

In her thirty-seven years of life, no one had ever dared to speak to her so bluntly.

She stood there, at a loss, her eyes darting around, her heart filled with both panic and sweetness, and she could only mutter a soft complaint:

"Don't talk nonsense. It would be bad if someone heard it, and there would be too much gossip."

Lin Chen smiled faintly at her shy expression, not pressing her any further, striking the perfect balance:

"Okay, I won't talk nonsense, but I'm telling the truth, I'm not lying to you."

Just as the two were getting along well, Xie Guangkun's signature loud voice suddenly rang out from outside, with tremendous penetrating power:

"Wang Laoqi! What exactly do you mean?! Everyone come out here, you have to be the judge today!"

The sudden shout broke the silence in the store.

Xie Dajiao snapped back to reality instantly, quickly raised her hand to smooth the stray hairs by her ear, and pretended to straighten her clothes, her heart still pounding.

Lin Chen shook his head helplessly. "I didn't touch you, why are you getting dressed like I did something wrong?"

He chuckled softly:

"It's true that there's always excitement everywhere, and this person is just here to spoil the fun. But it's okay, we'll have plenty of time to chat in the future."

Xie Dajiao rolled her eyes at him, her tone both coquettish and cautious:

"Remember this: don't say anything carelessly outside, and don't keep calling me 'sister' anymore. It sounds awkward and makes people overthink things."

Lin Chen raised an eyebrow and asked:

"Then what should I call you?"

Xie Dajiao peeked out the door to make sure no one was coming before lowering her voice:

"Calling someone 'Auntie' is polite, friendly, and the villagers can't find fault with it."

Lin Chen immediately blurted out:

"Okay, Auntie!"

This call filled Xie Dajiao with a sweet feeling, and she couldn't help but smile. She raised her hand and gently patted his arm.

"Keep your voice down! Don't shout!"

……

The noise of the crowd instantly shattered the silence at the village entrance.

In the distance, Wang Laoqi, leading a sheep, looked helpless and angry, and shouted at Xie Guangkun:

"What are you yelling about! You're making a racket in the middle of the day, disturbing the whole village! It's just that my sheep ate a few of your wretched vegetables, is it really necessary to chase me around yelling all the way here!"

Xie Guangkun stomped his feet on the ground, pointed at Wang Laoqi's nose, and acted as if the sky was falling:

"Chicken shreds? What do you know! Those are the best dishes my family specially saved! They're for my Yongqiang to welcome home! They're for college students!"

Wang Laoqi was amused by his unreasonable behavior:

"What's wrong with throwing a welcome party for college students? Don't college students eat grains? It's no big deal, I'll just compensate you, okay? Stop dawdling!"

"Losing money? Can you afford to lose it?!"

Xie Guangkun raised his voice, his face full of superiority:

"My Yongqiang is a legitimate university graduate from a prestigious university! He's about to become a cadre in the town government, a government employee! His special welcome-home feast—can it really cost the same as what an ordinary person would eat? Can you afford to pay for it?!"

Wang Laoqi was completely enraged, and his face darkened:

"So what if you're a college student? Does that make you superior? Xie Guangkun, let me tell you, don't push your luck and be ungrateful!"

"Are you trying to give me face?"

Xie Guangkun immediately bristled, the long hair on both sides of his head almost standing on end, and said arrogantly and unreasonably:

"Your sheep ate my vegetables and damaged my property; you were in the wrong first! I'm telling you now, unless you pay me fifty yuan, you're not taking this sheep with you!"

"Fifty? Are you crazy? This is pure robbery!"

Wang Laoqi's eyes widened, and he took a step forward:

"It's just some lousy food, not even worth a penny, five yuan at most! I'll give you ten yuan, the extra is compensation, take it or leave it!"

"Ten yuan? You think you can give that to a beggar on the street?"

Xie Guangkun held onto Wang Laoqi's clothes tightly, his attitude arrogant:

"Not a penny less today! If you dare not pay, I'll just take your sheep away and slaughter it, then I'll make a mutton stew for my Yongqiang to welcome him back!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Xie Guangkun pounced on the sheep rope.

Seeing this, Wang Laoqi immediately pulled the sheep rope tightly behind him to protect himself. The two of them pulled and pushed each other, arguing until their faces were red and their faces were red. The scene was chaotic and dusty.

Xie Dajiao rushed out of the grocery store to mediate the fight. Lin Chen followed behind her unhurriedly, his hands in his pockets, leaning lazily against the store's door frame, quietly watching the two of them arguing, looking like it was none of his business.

"Okay, okay! Stop hitting me!"

Xie Dajiao rushed over and stepped between the two, pulling them apart.

"It's no big deal, why fight in this heat! Guangkun, you two calm down, don't ruin our relationship!"

Xie Guangkun said angrily:

"Big Foot, stay out of this! This has nothing to do with you! I need to get an explanation from Old Man Wang today, this isn't over!"

Wang Laoqi was also seething with anger:

"Who's afraid of who! Whether you want to argue or fight, I'm ready anytime!"

Xie Dajiao tried to reconcile both sides, then turned around and grabbed Wang Laoqi:

"Seventh Brother, shut up and calm down! Guangkun is just upset about a few vegetables. Guangkun, Seventh Brother has already agreed to compensate you, so stop being so unreasonable."

Xie Guangkun continued to shout with his neck stiff:

"Is that what he calls losing money? What can you do with ten yuan! My Yongqiang will be home soon. When he gets back and sees his dad being treated like this for no reason, how can he feel good about it?"

Xie Dajiao couldn't listen any longer and immediately spoke up:

"Guangkun, you're being unreasonable. It was just a trivial matter. Seventh Brother took the initiative to apologize and pay compensation, showing his sincerity. You're just making trouble for yourself."

Wang Laoqi immediately chimed in:

"Big Foot is right! In all my years, I've never seen anyone so serious! Why are you so petty!"

Xie Guangkun's face turned even uglier after hearing this. Just as he was about to continue his tantrum, a clear and calm male voice suddenly rang out. The voice was not loud, but it steadily suppressed all the noise in the room, instantly silencing the scene.

"Uncle Guangkun, if you really care about Xie Yongqiang, then shut up!"

Lin Chen crossed his arms, stood tall, and looked at Xie Guangkun, who was throwing a tantrum, with an indifferent gaze. His tone was light, but it carried an inherent sense of pressure.

Xie Guangkun turned his head and noticed Lin Chen. He paused for a moment, then fiercely rebuked him:

"None of your business! What do you know, kid! Don't think you're superior just because you came back from Shenzhen. How dare you meddle in my affairs? Who gives you the right to lecture me?"

Xie Dajiao immediately shielded Lin Chen, hands on her hips, and said:

"Guangkun, Xiaochen was just trying to mediate and was only saying what was fair. Why can't he say it? Don't use your age to bully the child."

Lin Chen chuckled, took two steps forward unhurriedly, exuding an aura of dominance and a cold gaze:

"I'm not meddling, I just genuinely feel sorry for your Xie Yongqiang, and I'm ashamed of you!"
