Did Miss become a nun today?

Chapter 17 If you're so capable, then ignore him for the rest of your life.

Inside the private room of Jufulou, Pei Changfeng leaned lazily against a low couch, with Su Yao sitting beside him.

No one inside noticed; everything that happened here had been seen by someone.

Only the servant guarding outside seemed to catch a glimpse of Miss Biao and was hesitating whether to go in and report to the Second Young Master.

"Miss Su, what brings you here?"

Su Yao said in a muffled voice, "Of course I have something to tell you."

"Speak."

Looking at all the people in the room, Su Yao remained silent. "Tell them all to leave."

Upon hearing this, Pei Changfeng sneered, "Miss Su, my friendship with Su Yu is not the same as my friendship with you. If you have something to say, then say it; if not, then get lost."

Su Yao's face instantly turned ugly. She was a young lady of the Su family and had been pampered since childhood. When had she ever suffered such grievances?

"Pei Changfeng, how dare you!"

Pei Changfeng suddenly smiled, "If it weren't for you, I would already be holding a beautiful woman in my arms. You drove her away, so are you going to compensate me with yourself?"

As he spoke, he grabbed her wrist and pulled hard, causing Su Yao to fall to the ground beside him, finally realizing she was afraid.

"Pei Changfeng, what... what are you going to do?"

"What are you doing? You're already here, don't you understand what I want to do?"

As he spoke, he slowly bent down.

Su Yao was so frightened that she pushed the person away and fled out the door as if she were running away.

Pei Changfeng snorted coldly, downed a glass of wine, and his mood worsened.

"Brother Pei, would you like us to find you another girl?"

He rubbed his temples. "Get lost."

Those around him wanted to say something, but seeing his eyes blazing with fury, they wisely left.

A short while later, the door opened again, and the servant entered. "Second Young Master?"

"What is it?"

"I think I saw Miss Biao just outside."

As soon as he finished speaking, the person who had been hanging his head finally reacted.

"What did you say?"

"Reporting to the Second Young Master, it seems that Miss Biao has also come to Jufulou."

Pei Changfeng staggered out of the corridor, glanced around but saw no one, and glared at the servant, "Even you can lie now."

"I wouldn't dare. It's getting late; Miss Biao has probably already returned home."

"Young master and Miss Biao haven't seen each other for many days. Miss Biao must be heartbroken. Won't you go back and see her?"

Pei Changfeng suddenly realized, "That's right, I haven't visited her in so long, she must be feeling wronged and hiding away to cry."

"Go back, go back now."

But when the people returned and stood outside Shifang Courtyard, it was so quiet that not a sound could be heard.

There was no light in the courtyard; everyone was asleep.

"Young master, shall I go and knock on the door?"

"What are you banging on?" he shouted coldly.

Yun Chu was most afraid of being disturbed while sleeping. If someone knocked on the door now and woke her up, her little face would look so wronged that she might cry.

"If I disturb someone until they cry, I have to comfort them, which is very annoying."

"Yes, yes, yes, it is just my humble opinion."

Back in the courtyard, Pei Changfeng paused. "Tomorrow, go to the Su residence and ask when that bastard Su Yu will deliver what he promised me."

"Didn't Young Master Su say last time that it could only be delivered to you next month?"

"No way, he said the same thing last month. This kid, he's not going to go back on his word, is he?"

If he didn't have something to ask of him, why would he have taken his sister to Yong'an Temple? And why would he have saved Su Yao first when the temple collapsed?

Fortunately, Yun Chu is still alive, otherwise he would have killed his sister to be buried with him!

If it weren't for Su Yao, he would have had a chance to go back...

Xie Yun Chu was unaware that Pei Chang Feng had come to see her last night. She had been thinking about her older cousin all night and felt really guilty, wondering how she could make amends.

The next day, she went to the main courtyard to pay her respects as usual. When she returned, she took out the incense she had made over the past few days, wrapped it up, and handed it to Lan Yue.

"Send this messenger to the General's Mansion and say it's to thank General Wei for helping me twice at Qingyun Nunnery last time."

She also returned the silver notes and gold hairpins he had given her.

Although Wei Lin treated her badly, he only gained the upper hand verbally, and she didn't suffer any loss.

Wei Zhao helped her twice, both times in life-threatening situations, so she should thank him. Naturally, she couldn't keep these things anymore.

Unfortunately, she was staying at the Marquis's mansion, and most of the incense she made was given to the teahouse manager. She didn't get much money from the incense sales, so she didn't have much money to buy him an expensive congratulatory gift.

She made this by hand, and it's a token of her affection. She'll find another opportunity to repay her later.

Just as Lan Yue was about to leave, she bumped right into Pei Changfeng, who was walking towards her.

Pei Changfeng spotted the box in her arms at a glance, his eyes lighting up with delight. He snatched it, brought it to his nose, and sniffed it. "It smells good."

As he spoke, he even tucked it into his pocket.

Xie Yun Chu frowned. Was it meant for him? He just put it in his pocket.

She greeted him politely, "Second cousin, is there something you need?"

Pei Changfeng had gotten used to her cold tone these days and wasn't angry anymore.

"Can't you come if there's nothing wrong?"

Of course not, but she didn't want to argue with him like before, so she didn't answer.

As long as he's happy.

Pei Changfeng waited for the person to rush over as usual, but as he waited, he saw the person return to the table and sit down without saying a word.

Xie Yun Chu really didn't have time to deal with her, but she couldn't openly kick her out, so she sat down to make incense again, as she had to make a new batch for that General Wei.

Pei Changfeng wandered around her room, knocking over porcelain vases on the shelf and books on the table, never staying still for a moment.

Xie Yun Chu closed her eyes, trying to hold back, but couldn't help it. "Second cousin, can you be quiet?"

Although Buddha told her to calm down, he didn't tell her to suffer such indignity.

It's really annoying.

Pei Changfeng and Xie Yunchu often argued. He thought Xie Yunchu was finally about to lose her temper, but all he got was this one sentence.

The calm was unsettling. When did my cousin start complaining about him being noisy?

"Your cousin thinks I'm noisy?" He sounded incredulous, as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world. "You used to be the one who looked forward to me bothering you."

Xie Yun Chu lowered her head as she mixed the spices. "I was ignorant before and disturbed my second cousin's peace. Please don't be angry, cousin."

These words, spoken neither too lightly nor too harshly, pierced Pei Changfeng's heart like a needle.

That's not what I meant.

"Second cousin, what brings you here today?"

She asked earnestly, but Pei Changfeng didn't know how to answer. What brings you here?

It seems like nothing really happened.

"If you have nothing else to do, Second Cousin, you may return."

Pei Changfeng looked displeased; he had been humiliated and immediately regretted it.

He shouldn't have come.

"Xie Yun Chu, are you still angry?"

Xie Yun Chu was really tired. She had said it so many times, when would it ever end?

Why does my second cousin think I'm angry?

"Just because I'm no longer as aggrieved as before, no longer as eager to please you, you think I'm angry?"

She got up and walked over. "What can my cousin do if I'm angry? Will he just offer some perfunctory words to appease me? Or will he scold me for being unreasonable?"

These words struck Pei Changfeng's heart like a hammer. He always did this whenever Xie Yun Chu got angry.

If you coax her with a few words, or if you are even angrier than her and righteously criticize her, Xie Yun Chu will give in.

How could a grown man be ridden on by a young woman?

Because of her, he was often laughed at in public, which made him impatient and rude.

Xie Yun Chu's tone remained indifferent, "If my anger makes you feel better, then just pretend I'm the one who's angry."

She didn't want any further entanglement with Pei Changfeng. It was better to just let it go like this, without having to tear things apart. That would be fine.

Once she moves out of the Marquis's mansion, they will no longer have any relationship, so why say so much?

But he did it again and again.

Looking at the person in front of her, whom she had liked since childhood, she realized that he knew absolutely nothing about her.

All those years of affection turned into anger after she escaped death.

"It's been so long, and my second cousin still thinks I'm angry?"

Pei Changfeng had no other answer in his heart. This was Xie Yun Chu; no matter what she did, she was always jealous.

"Isn't that right? You just want me to bow down and make you happy, don't you?" He held his head high, looking arrogant.

Xie Yun Chu suddenly laughed, "Second cousin, do you know what I like to do most at the Marquis's residence? Where do I usually like to go? What do I do in my free time?"

Pei Changfeng didn't speak, he just stared at her blankly.

"You don't understand me, and you don't know what I like, but I know your preferences very well."

"You like sour things, but not too sour ones. You don't like spicy things either, because they give you an upset stomach. At home, you love sitting by the pond in the yard feeding the fish. You also love the osmanthus tree in the yard because you can climb up it to hide when your aunt scolds you..."

"Second cousin, I can understand that you don't like me and didn't save me first when I was in danger."

"But even if you don't like me, you should at least give me some face, considering we grew up together."

She didn't want to be so blunt, but her second cousin seemed not to understand and assumed she was just being dramatic.

"Second cousin, you've probably misunderstood. I've been doing very well these days. I haven't lost my appetite, made a fuss, or cried because of you."

"I will no longer bother you or try to control you. I also hope that my second cousin will not cause me any more trouble in the future."

These words may be unpleasant to hear, but they are the truth.

She no longer cared what Pei Changfeng's expression was.

He instructed Qingluo to see the guest out, and then paid no further attention to the matter.

The servant outside could tell from the young master's expression that something terrible was about to happen.

On the way back, Anjing was filled with unease. The servant couldn't help but ask, "Did the young master and Miss speak to each other?"

Pei Changfeng gave him a cold glare. "What did you say?"

The servant shuddered and asked again, "Weren't you going to see Miss Biao today? Did you have a fight?"

It would have been better if he hadn't mentioned it; the moment he did, Pei Changfeng's face darkened further, his gaze sharp as a knife. "From now on, you are not allowed to mention her again!"

"She's just an orphan girl living in the Marquis's mansion. Haven't you humiliated me enough all these years? Why do you act like you've been wronged?"

If she doesn't care, then she'll have some peace and quiet. If she's so capable, then she should just ignore him for the rest of her life!
