Fubuki reached out and snatched it back, saying, "I've already eaten it. What good will it do you to take it back? Besides, even if I can't eat it, I've eaten it many times before."

Fan Liuer would always share whatever she ate with her; she was much luckier than Li Qiuping when it came to food.

Li Qiuping was well aware that Fan Liuer had always been kind to those around her, whether it was Siqing or Chuixue, and even he received Fan Liuer's care and attention.

She never treated servants as servants once they had won her heart.

Li Qiuping glanced at Bai Chuixue, not really intending to argue with her, but only reminding her, "It's one thing to be so presumptuous in front of Madam, but you should restrain yourself in front of Master, lest you displease him."

While eating a pastry, Fubuki mumbled, "I'm not stupid."

Fan Liuer was in a daze all day, and only seemed to come back to her senses when she went to bed at night.

She usually falls asleep the moment her head hits the pillow, but today she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. Fubuki, who was beside her, saw this and said, "Madam, if you can't sleep, shall I tell you a story?"

Fan Liuer wasn't interested in listening to the story. She turned to look at Chuixue and asked, "Can you find out any news from the battlefield?"

"I'll go ask Guard Li." Chuixue got up and walked out of the tent. Fan Liuer couldn't stay in bed any longer and sat up.

Chuixue returned quickly and sat down beside her. "Madam, Guard Li said that news came from the battlefield that everything is going smoothly. Our offensive is too fierce, and the imperial court is already finding it difficult to cope. It should be breached soon."

Fan Liuer felt relieved after hearing this, and finally fell asleep in a daze with Chuixue's comforting words.

In the early hours of the morning, before dawn, Fan Liuer was suddenly awakened from her sleep and sat up in bed.

Fubuki, who was lying on the footstool by the bed, was woken up by her. She rubbed her eyes and sat up. "Madam, you're awake?"

Fan Liuer, panting, turned to look at Chuixue, her eyes still filled with shock.

"I was dreaming."

Fubuki sensed something was wrong and immediately got up and sat down next to her. "Had a nightmare?"

Fan Liuer nodded, "I dreamt that Li Chenbi got into trouble."

Chuixue poured a glass of water and handed it to Fan Liuer before saying, "It must be because you're overthinking things that you had such a dream. Dreams are always the opposite of reality. Lord Li will definitely return in triumph."

Fan Liuer shook her head, holding her water glass. "It wasn't a dream about the battlefield."

"What kind of dream was that?" Chuixue asked curiously. If it wasn't related to the battlefield, what else could have frightened Fan Liuer like that?

Fan Liuer dared not speak of it; she dared not let anyone know the contents of this dream.

In the dream, the war had ended, and the battle had gone smoothly. The rebel army had successfully marched north. However, Li Chenbi was not among those who ascended the throne when Yan Qi became emperor.

There were many familiar faces in the court, including Yan Qiu, Qi Weiming, and some familiar faces that Fan Liuer had seen before, but Li Chenbi was not among them.

In her dream, Fan Liuer, as an observer, did not feel afraid at first. She thought it must be because Li Chenbi had already said goodbye to Yan Qi and taken her back to Xingzhou to start a peaceful life as ordinary people, away from such conflicts and disputes.

However, the scene shifts, and the dream still resembles the imperial court, though it appears somewhat older than the previous dream's setting.

Many faces had changed in the court, some new and some old. The only one she recognized was Qi Weiming. He looked much more composed than before, and had grown a beard.

But on that dragon throne was neither Yan Qi nor Yan Qiu, but a child who was not yet five years old.

Beside the dragon throne, behind a magnificent beaded curtain, sat Li Chenbi, dressed in a dark robe.

This dream terrified Fan Liuer. Why would she have such a dream?

Who is that child?

Why was Li Chenbi sitting behind the dragon throne?

"Madam? Madam?" Chuixue's voice brought Fan Liuer back to her senses. She looked at Chuixue and forced a smile. "Did I scare you? It's alright now. I'm still a little sleepy. I'll sleep a little longer."

"Okay, then you can go to sleep. I'll stay here and watch over you. Don't be afraid."

Fan Liuer lay in bed, her mind still a jumbled mess.

She knew it was a dream, and dreams are all false and should not be brought into reality.

But the dream was so bizarre that she couldn't help but keep thinking about it.

Judging from Qi Weiming's appearance, at least ten years must have passed since Yan Qi ascended the throne. Even if Yan Qi had passed away during those ten years, Yan Qiu would still be around. So why is a child sitting on the dragon throne?

After much deliberation, Fan Liuer concluded that only one outcome was reasonable.

After Yan Qi died young, Yan Qiu succeeded him, but he did not live long, and the position was then taken by his young son.

Before he died, he entrusted his young son to Li Chenbi.

If that's the case, then it makes sense.

However, even with such a plausible outcome, this dream cannot be revealed to anyone.

She dreamt that Yan Qi and Yan Qiu died young. If that got out, she probably wouldn't be able to keep her head.

She has to keep this dream to herself.

Having figured it out, Fan Liuer still couldn't sleep. She turned her head to look outside the tent and asked Chuixue, "What time is it now?"

Lifting the curtain, Li Qiuping was standing in the doorway with a reclining chair placed across the entrance. Fan Liuer felt sorry for him being unable to sleep while guarding the door, so she told him to move the reclining chair across the entrance and sleep on it.

That way, even if he falls asleep, he will be woken up if someone approaches the door.

Fubuki's movements startled him awake. He opened his eyes, looked at Fubuki, and sat up. "What's wrong?"

"Let me check what time it is now."

Li Qiuping looked up at the sky, which was already turning a pale white. He said, "It's past mid-morning."

Chuixue nodded, lowered the curtain, and returned to Fan Liuer's side. "It's past mid-morning, dawn is approaching."

It's almost dawn.

Fan Liuer began to feel uneasy again.

Li Chenbi promised her that he would be back safely before noon, and now there are only a few hours left until noon.

The closer it got to the appointed time, the more nervous she became.

"Madam, it's still early, why don't you get some more sleep?"

"I can't sleep." Fan Liuer's unease had nowhere to go. If she continued to lie there, she would only overthink things. She needed to find something to do.

"I'll practice my calligraphy." She got out of bed and started getting dressed.

I had just finished dressing when I vaguely heard some noises coming from outside.

She immediately walked towards the door, reaching out to lift the curtain, but Li Qiuping pulled it open, saying, "There should be soldiers returning. I'll go and inquire later."

Fan Liuer nodded slightly, but stood at the door without moving, her eyes fixed on the direction from which the sound came.

Li Qiuping looked over as well, and soon, the flickering torches and figures appeared. Several people ran quickly toward them. Fan Liuer recognized one of them as someone from Yan Qiu's side. He shouted to Li Qiuping, "Guard Li, quickly go and fetch the army doctor. Lord Li is injured."
