Jiang Yan stood at the door of Jiang Ning's room and knocked three times with his knuckles, neither too hard nor too soft.

"Who is it? Drive it yourself."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yan immediately turned the doorknob and went inside.

Jiang Ning sat in front of the computer, a lollipop dangling from her mouth, the mouse and keyboard clicking away. Hearing the noise, she quickly glanced sideways at the person coming down.

"Second brother, what's wrong?"

Jiang Yan strode up to Jiang Ning and looked down at him.

Jiang Ning felt a chill run down her spine from the stare. She jerked her mouse, and her ultimate move missed its mark. "Damn it."

Faced with the enemy's siege, Jiang Ning couldn't spare any attention to look at Jiang Yan. She straightened her back and typed rapidly and loudly on the keyboard.

Jiang Yan's expression grew colder as she glanced around.

Jiang Ning's room was as messy as ever. Half of the blanket was on the floor, two pillows were placed to the south and one to the north, and the floor was almost entirely covered by a huge jigsaw puzzle and a block castle. Snacks, game controllers, beverage bottles...

You don't even have a decent tool?

Jiang Yan frowned, her gaze shifting to the tangled mess of white phone charging cables on the table.

Jiang Yan reached for the charger, lowered her eyes, and slowly and gracefully untied it.

Just as the word "Victory" appeared on Jiang Ning's computer screen, the charging cable whistled through the air and struck Jiang Ning's thigh precisely.

"Awooo—!!"

Jiang Ning jumped up from her chair, the lollipop in her mouth falling to the ground with a stringy trail.

Jiang Ning took two steps back, frantically rubbing the spot on his thigh where he had been slapped; it hurt terribly.

"Jiang Yan, are you out of your mind?!"

Am I sick?

Jiang Yan sneered, flicked his wrist, and pulled the charging cable back. "I think you're asking for a beating."

"Ouch!! It hurts so much!!!"

Jiang Ning covered her head and ran away, hiding behind the table. "Why did you hit me? I haven't done anything to you lately."

Jiang Yan stopped and watched as Jiang Ning pulled the curtains over herself, leaving only her head showing.

The charging cable wasn't very handy, so Jiang Yan casually yanked it, the sound of it cutting through the air ringing out. "Are you going to talk about the invitation or not?"

Jiang Ning was taken aback when the charging cable fell onto his lap through the curtains.

"Will you tell or not?"

"Holy crap, that hurts so much!!!"

Jiang Ning dodged and howled, babbling incoherently, "Jiang Yan, this is domestic violence, you're bullying me... Aww... I don't know what you're talking about..."

The door to the next room was flung open with a bang, and Jiang Huai poked half his head in through Jiang Ning's half-open door. "...Jiang Xiaoliu, what's all the noise about? Did a pig take advantage of you? Holy crap!"

When Jiang Huai saw the situation inside the room, he instantly became excited, leaning against the door frame with a big smile, watching the fun. "Second brother, why don't you hit him with the charging cable? That's pretty creative."

"Jiang Huai, Fourth Brother, save me."

Jiang Ning saw a savior and placed her "hope for survival" on Jiang Huai.

"Stop Second Brother! He's gone crazy!"

Jiang Huai met Jiang Yan's indifferent gaze, carefully assessed the situation, and then smoothly took half a step back to the side. "I think you really deserve to be hit."

"Damn it!" Jiang Ning was almost furious. Only her older brother could save her now, so she shouted, "Big brother!!!"

Hearing that Jiang Ning still dared to call him "Big Brother," Jiang Yan's anger, which had subsided considerably, surged up again. He said coldly, "Big Brother has gone out for a walk. Shouting until you're hoarse won't do any good."

Jiang Ning was in pain all over from being whipped, and Jiang Yan was being cursed repeatedly in his heart.

Footsteps sounded again outside the door. Jiang Ting came down from the rooftop studio, her clothes and hands still stained with paint. Seeing this scene, she went over to watch the commotion. When she saw Jiang Ning being beaten, she blinked and exclaimed, "Wow, is this a family denunciation meeting?"

Jiang Ning was almost in tears. "Fifth Brother, save me."

Jiang Ting glanced at the charging cable in Jiang Yan's hand and gave him a bright smile. "Second brother, you must be tired. I'll go downstairs and get you a bottle of water."

"Are you even human?!"

Jiang Ning was utterly desperate. She squatted down with her arms wrapped around her knees, looking like a dead pig that wasn't afraid of boiling water.

Jiang Yan stopped what he was doing and said in a deep voice, "Jiang Ning, I'll ask you one more time, did you tell your older brother about the invitation?"

Jiang Ning lowered her eyes and remained silent.

"Can't you see how your brother has been these past few days? You got the invitation a long time ago, why didn't you tell him? The school sent out a text message notification a while ago, what are you trying to do by keeping it a secret!"

Jiang Yan's voice was squeezed out from between her teeth.

"Big brother already knew?" Jiang Ning's heart skipped a beat, and she retorted with a stiff neck, "...I just didn't find a chance to say it."

Jiang Yan laughed in exasperation and kicked Jiang Ning in the butt. "You come home every day, you have so much time, can't you find an opportunity?"

Jiang Ning was kicked so hard she almost fell face-first to the ground. Knowing she was in the wrong, she dared not say a word.

Jiang Yan tossed the damaged charging cable into the trash can, her tone leaving no room for argument, "Now, immediately, take your invitation and wait downstairs. Give it to your older brother as soon as he returns, understand?"

Jiang Ning hadn't figured out how to bring it up yet, but reluctantly pulled the gold-embossed invitation out of a compartment in her backpack. "Fine, I'll go."

Jiang Ning dawdled to the door, while Jiang Ting and Jiang Huai stood with one arm crossed and the other drinking water, their faces beaming with the satisfaction of watching a good show unfold.

Jiang Ning clenched her fists, feeling utterly humiliated. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. As she passed by, she raised her heel and stomped hard on Jiang Huai and the other man's feet.

Jiang Huai and Jiang Ting both gasped in shock. The blow was too brutal; their toenails were likely to be bruised.

After finishing his meal, Jiang Guanqing was taken out for a walk by Gong Bolin to digest his food. After walking around for a while, they returned to the villa.

As soon as I entered the courtyard, I saw Jiang Ning standing at the door, her brows furrowed tightly.

"Xiao Ning, what's wrong? Is something on your mind?"

Jiang Ning suddenly looked up, and the words she had been agonizing over in her heart vanished completely.

Seeing that Jiang Guanqing had already walked up to her, Jiang Ning opened her mouth, but finally gritted her teeth and shoved the invitation into Jiang Guanqing's hand. Her voice was harsh, as if a robber was forcing her from behind with a gun.

"Well, it was issued by the school. I'm just letting you know. You can go to the coming-of-age ceremony if you want, or not."

Jiang Guanqing was stunned, looking down at the gold-embossed invitation in his hand, his fingertips trembling slightly.

Jiang Ning's ears turned bright red. Before she could finish speaking, she tried to run away, but before she could turn around, she was kicked in the butt.
