Qingyan felt wronged and returned home with red eyes all the way.

She was burning with anxiety and wanted to rush to the Education Bureau to get to the bottom of things, but it was already past closing time, so she could only postpone it until tomorrow.

As soon as Duoduo got home, she hugged Zeng Yumei and cried, saying that someone was bullying her sister-in-law.

Zeng Yumei looked at Qiao Qingyan with concern and asked what was wrong. Qingyan said it was nothing, but then raised her hand to wipe her eyes.

She glanced around the yard, then quickly walked into the kitchen and looked around inside.

Zeng Yumei followed in carrying Duoduo and said, "Jingye hasn't returned yet. I guess he's busy in the city today and will probably have to spend the night there."

"I didn't look for him." Qingyan stubbornly insisted, but as soon as she finished speaking, she couldn't help but feel wronged, and her small mouth pouted slightly.

She missed him terribly, but he wasn't there.

The next morning, Qingyan first went to school to ask for half a day off, then rode her bicycle straight to the Education Bureau.

In the past two days, a steady stream of people have come to check their civil service exam results, and the gatekeeper has been directing them to Officer Li's office.

Upon entering the room, Qingyan gave her name and inquired about the overall score.

Officer Li glanced at her indifferently: "Why are you here again? Didn't your spouse just come over yesterday to check your grades?"

"My lover?" Qingyan asked blankly.

"Yes, a man with dark skin, very tall and quite handsome, came here yesterday morning to ask about your results. I told him that someone wrote a letter of complaint against you, and your results are invalid! You can no longer take the civil service exam."

Stepping out of the Education Bureau, the once clear sky was suddenly overcast with dark clouds, casting a gray and somber hue over the entire area.

A cold wind swirled withered leaves all over the ground, creating a desolate scene that chilled one to the bone.

Qingyan pushed her bicycle back home, looking utterly dejected. Her whole body seemed to have been drained of all energy, stiff and numb, like a lifeless clay sculpture.

She walked along silently wiping away tears.

She simply couldn't accept that a fabricated whistleblower letter could so easily crush all the efforts she had put in day and night.

She could guess that the letter of complaint was most likely submitted by Chen Xiaomeng. Although Chen Xiaomeng was illiterate, she could ask someone else to write it for her.

However, Qingyan could not see the original document and had no way to question it.

An overwhelming sense of exhaustion swept over my entire body; it was a deep-seated mental and physical exhaustion.

She was truly fed up with and exhausted from dealing with these malicious people who were always scheming against her.

The words of Officer Li still echoed in my ears. The matter was already settled, and I'm afraid I won't even be able to keep my current private school teacher qualification.

From then on, she could no longer stand on the podium to teach.

Thinking this, Qingyan's tears flowed even more fiercely.

She just wanted to be a normal teacher and live a peaceful life, so why was it so difficult?

Why did those leaders so easily convict her based solely on a baseless whistleblower letter?

If everyone can freely write whistleblower letters to slander others without bearing any consequences for their false statements, isn't that unfair to the accused? Isn't that a case of innocent people being wronged?

She didn't even have a chance to defend herself.

Officer Li said, "No matter who it is, as long as someone reports them, they will definitely be affected and will not be able to get away unscathed."

Qingyan's eyes were red and swollen from crying, and despite her heavy nasal voice, she forced herself to finish teaching the children that afternoon.

Xiao Jingye still did not return home that day.

On the third day, staff from the Education Bureau came to the school to investigate the situation.

Qingyan was called into Principal Zhou's office, feeling both uneasy and expectant.

The fact that someone is investigating suggests there might be room for maneuver in the situation.

The lead staff member, dressed in a crisp shirt, had a stern expression and got straight to the point:

"We are here today to verify the relevant information with you, as this matter is directly related to your qualification as a private school teacher."

Qingyan sat on the guillotine like a lamb to the slaughter, unsure whether the blade would fall or be withdrawn.

"Is it true that someone has reported you for having an inappropriate relationship with a married gay man?"

Qingyan shook her head, her voice trembling softly: "I didn't."

"You frequently physically punish students, calling them into your office and whipping them with branches, causing injuries that require hospitalization. Do you admit to this?"

Qingyan twisted her two fingers together anxiously: "I have indeed disciplined students, but I was very gentle. It was just a routine reprimand, and I would never have hurt a child to the point of hospitalization."

The other person's tone was as harsh as if interrogating a criminal: "So, the corporal punishment did indeed occur?"

Qingyan was stunned, speechless for a moment.

The interrogation lasted for nearly half an hour. A number of curious students crowded outside the window to watch. When Principal Zhou saw this, he quickly dispersed the children.

He couldn't get a word in edgewise, and only planned to say a few fair words for Qiao Qingyan after the questioning was over.

Before he could speak, the staff member who had finished the inquiry turned to Principal Zhou and instructed, "Suspend all of Teacher Qiao's teaching work for now."

Principal Zhou chased after her all the way out, patiently and repeatedly arguing and trying his best to vouch for Qingyan's character, until his mouth was dry from talking.

"Principal Zhou, we are just following the rules. Recently, the higher authorities have been strictly supervising us. Teachers with serious issues that have been reported cannot continue to remain in the teaching staff."

After saying that, the group left.

In the office, the other teachers were huddled together, whispering among themselves.

Having worked together for a long time, everyone knew Qiao Qingyan's character, but upon hearing about the whistleblower letter, they couldn't help but have doubts.

We only interact for work purposes. As for what kind of person they are in private, no one can say for sure.

Many people secretly speculated that there's no smoke without fire; could it be that she really had an improper lifestyle and interfered in someone else's marriage?

When Qiao Qingyan entered the office, the teachers who were whispering to each other immediately sat up straight and fell silent.

Everyone secretly glanced at her, eager to ask her something, but unable to bring themselves to ask.

The news of the classes being suspended left Qingyan breathless. In just two days, one change after another came so fast that she had no time to process it.

By the time she finished teaching the last class in the afternoon, her hands were trembling as she held the chalk.

She turned around, tears streaming down her face.

"Classmates, this may be the last lesson I teach you."

The audience erupted in uproar, the children looking completely bewildered, not understanding what was happening.

Seeing the teacher cry, they cried along with her, and the classroom was filled with sobbing.

"I might be able to come back, or I might never be able to stand here again."

As soon as he finished speaking, the children cried even harder.

Sitting in the first row, Zhang Xiaohua cried out, tears streaming down her face, "Teacher Qiao, we won't let you leave!"

The other students echoed their sentiments, and cries of pleas for them to stay rang out.

"Teacher, don't go..."

The children genuinely liked this teacher. Qiao Qingyan was fair-skinned and beautiful, knowledgeable, and always told them about the interesting things in the city, repeatedly encouraging them to study hard and go abroad in the future.

She treats every child with patience and gentleness, and genuinely loves her students. This sincerity is never feigned, and the children all know it.

Qingyan raised her hand to wipe away her tears, forcing a smile: "From now on, if anyone has any questions about their homework, those who live nearby can come to my house anytime to ask me."

When the bell rang, Qingyan went back to her office to tidy up her desk.

The room was eerily quiet, with only the soft rustling of her tidying up her books.

After a long silence, Teacher Yu finally spoke up, "Don't pack too much stuff yet. Maybe we can resume classes in a couple of days."

Qingyan knew she was trying to comfort her, and softly sighed.

The Education Bureau's actions and decisions have undoubtedly cemented her place in the annals of shame.

Everyone would assume that she was of bad character, which is why she was ordered to suspend her job.

Her eyes were red-rimmed, her nose was sore, and she couldn't lift her head to look at anyone in the office.

Like a piece of white porcelain, it shattered gently.
