Chapter 259 The truth gradually comes to light

Soon, Susan sent over the intelligence data.

Chen An opened the document and began browsing, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper. The information was very detailed, even listing the analysis process of the Catholic Intelligence Network.

The suspects were becoming increasingly clear: the First Assistant Chief of Police in Los Angeles, the Assistant Chief of Special Operations, and the Assistant Chief of Administration and Logistics.

The prime suspect is First Assistant Commissioner Kimmy Byrne, who is the highest-ranking officer besides the commissioner, managing patrol, SWAT, major crimes, and field police forces.

The reason for the suspicion is simple: the other party has served as assistant director, or deputy director, for many years, and there are signs that he is very interested in the director's position. Moreover, he is not on good terms with Director Brandon, so he is the prime suspect.

Looking at the intelligence report, Chen An looked thoughtful.

The intelligence in the document was very detailed, even listing many motives, all pointing to First Assistant Chief Kimmy Byrne. Combined with the surveillance footage Hank showed him, it was confirmed that the person in question was someone from within the police department.

There is no doubt that Kimi Bourne is very likely the mastermind behind this.

So Chen An dialed Brandon's number again.

"Chen An called so quickly, is there any news?" Brandon's voice came through the phone after it was answered.

"Chief Brandon, do you know Kimi Bourne?" Chen An asked.

"I know him. He's the First Assistant Chief of Police in Los Angeles. Are you suggesting he's the one who sent the attack on Eve?" Brandon's tone was somewhat surprised.

Chen An didn't draw a definitive conclusion: "It's not 100% certain. You might need to investigate further. It's highly likely to be him. I'll send you some information later, and you'll understand once you take a look."

"Okay, send it to me."

Chen An then sent part of the information to Brandon, who received it quickly and opened it to browse.

After a moment, Brandon spoke again, "Chen An, your detective agency is amazing. They can even investigate these things. If we look at the analysis above, it might really be Kimi Byrne. I had a conflict with him a while ago because we disagreed."

"I'll have someone investigate this matter. You'd better be careful. If it really is Kimi Berndon's doing, given his network of connections, he already knows you're helping me, and he might very well send someone to deal with you."

Upon hearing this, Chen An smiled and said, "Director Brandon, you guessed right. Last night, a stranger called me and told me to stop."

"I didn't expect them to find out so quickly. It seems we all need to be careful. Does Chen An need police protection? I can send a team to protect you."

Brandon, demonstrating his authority as director, stated directly.

After listening, Chen An thought for a moment and replied, "Sure, but can I designate someone to come from Hogg's team?"

"No problem, I just don't know if he'll agree," Brandon said.

Chen An smiled and said, "I think he would be very happy to."

"Okay, I'll contact him."

The call was immediately disconnected.

.........

at the same time.

Kimi Bourne was watching the news at home when there was a knock on the door. After Kimi Bourne opened the door, Agent Millard slowly walked into the house.

"Millard, what are you doing here?" Kimi Byrne asked, looking puzzled.

"Mr. Byrne, Chief Brandon has started investigating you. What you've done is very likely to be exposed. We must act quickly," Millard said anxiously.

He was also secretly worried about the situation. His backer was this First Assistant Director, Kimi Byrne, but now the other party seemed to be in a precarious position.

Kimi Byrne was surprised for a moment. "I didn't interfere with any of the operations. How could Brandon have guessed? Where did you hear that from?"

"We in the FBI aren't pushovers either; we can get intelligence, of course. In short, handle this as cleanly as possible, and we don't have much time left."

Listening to Millard's words, Byrne understood the seriousness of the situation. Brandon was the chief appointed by the mayor himself, and he wouldn't hold back at all when he took action.

"Oh, right! Brandon also found an accomplice named Mark Ann, who seems to be the behind-the-scenes boss of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s security company."

"Hmm!" Kimi Byrne's expression shifted. "I've heard of this security company. They've become quite famous lately. I guess they hired a maid to protect his daughter."

"I already have people in mind to capture Eve and deal with Mark Ann. Mr. Bourne, you don't need to use your men. It would be too easy to expose us that way," Millard said with a smile.

"Your men are probably even worse than the ones I sent," he thought to himself, wondering what kind of helper Mirad could possibly have that was more capable than his own.

"Mr. Byrne, have you forgotten about the Continental Hotel assassin organization? They rarely make mistakes."

Millard's words surprised Kimi Byrne: "Having the Continental Hotel handle this will cause too much of a stir. If the higher-ups blame us, I'll be in trouble!"

"Mr. Byrne, why bother with all this at a time like this? Once we catch Eve and get Brandon to give up his next term, you'll be able to suppress it when you become the director."

Hearing this, Kimi Byrne finally nodded. "Alright, then let the Continental Hotel handle it. Hire the best. We can't afford any more mistakes. Brandon has already investigated us."

"Alright, but I need Mr. Byrne to send people to hinder Brandon's investigation and provide support as quickly as possible," Millard said.

"Okay, I'll figure something out."

Millard then left for the Continental Hotel in Los Angeles.

Before we knew it, it was seven o'clock in the evening.

Downstairs at the Nadutong company, Eve was waving goodbye to Chen Wan, "See you tomorrow, Sister Chen Wan."

"It's getting late, let's go home soon." After saying that, Chen Wan got into the car, and the assassin drove her away.

Watching the car disappear, Eve said to Xiaochun and the other three, "Let's go too."

After hearing this, Xiaochun and the other three clearly divided the tasks.

Xiaochun was in charge of driving, Xia sat in the passenger seat, Eve sat in the middle of the back seat, and Xiaoqiu and Xiaodong stood guard on either side.

Soon the vehicle was on the road, heading towards Beverly Hills.

Halfway through the drive, the four people inside the car suddenly frowned, quickly took out pistols from their pockets, and put a bulletproof vest on Eve.

Eve understood that Xiaochun and the others must have discovered something, and she couldn't help but feel nervous. She felt that this time was different from before.

Meanwhile, several black cars had appeared around the Rolls-Royce Phantom that Eve and the others were riding in, quietly following on the left, right, and behind.

Bang bang bang!

Xiao Qiu took the initiative, suddenly pulling the trigger. Bullets whistled from the muzzle and struck the window of a car.

The car window shattered, revealing masked assassins armed with weapons inside!
