"A huge mess has occurred." The system was more serious than ever before. "The original plot was supposed to be rewritten, but due to the protagonist's obsession, another small world has sprung up on its own."

"He should have died in the first year, but I don't know what he was waiting for, he's endured until now."

Xu Ran had just come out of the small world when, in a flash, he remembered Pei Chenxi's last few dreams that he couldn't recall.

"I know what he's waiting for." Xu Ran had already raised his hand and clicked to apply to enter the world.

Someone is waiting for him...

From the day he fell into Ghost Tomb Mountain, Pei Chenxi had already embarked on a dead end. He was the first person in the world to climb out of Ghost Tomb Mountain, a living hell.

Or perhaps the one who crawled out of Ghost Tomb Mountain was no longer human, but a demon, wielding a butcher's knife, and fought his way to the position of Demon Lord.

People thought he would be a calamity for the righteous path, but he had already chosen his own grave long ago.

No one in this world knows what kind of young man Pei Chenxi is, nor does anyone know how the Demon Lord acquired such unfathomable magical power.

What killed the Demon Lord was not the pain of shattered tendons and veins, but the loneliness that penetrated to the bone.

*

The Demon Lord gently opened his eyes, his misty gray pupils dull and lifeless. They didn't look like the eyes of a living person; they belonged to someone who shouldn't have been alive.

A heavy, dark iron chain gripped his wrist and bound his neck, while a ghostly flame burned eternally, reflecting on his pale face and bloodstained lips.

This is the fourth year that the Demon Lord has locked himself up.

He thought he would die in the first year, but then he had a dream.

He dreamed of a master, two jars of celestial honey, a sword that could cut through water, and a cloud of mist…

He dreamt of it day after day, wanting to see when this dream would end.

So he endured countless days and nights in the bottomless underground dungeon, where an extremely lonely man stubbornly clung to a beautiful dream, living a life of suffering.

The dream finally came to an end, and the person in the dream who had the same face as him was not ultimately abandoned.

The Demon Lord smiled slightly and said softly, "This is a nightmare."

Having not spoken for years, he uttered these words extremely slowly and with great difficulty.

This is a nightmare... I coaxed him to live so many more days.

But they wouldn't let him wait for anything.

He had no master; the Azure Frost Immortal Venerable did not emerge from seclusion that day…

He didn't get to eat the immortal honey, but the immortal herb successfully injured the inner disciple's hand.

He didn't obtain the Broken Water Sword. He only saw it once, before he was imprisoned in this cage, when the cold-faced, aloof immortal stabbed it mercilessly into his body.

He had never seen a wisp of fog; he had endured that day alone at Ghost Tomb Mountain.

"Nightmare." The Demon Lord seemed unsatisfied and stubbornly repeated.

This is punishment, to make him suffer for a few more years; it's impossible for him to be easily freed.

He blinked, and tears slowly fell.

If he had a master...

Xu Ran walked step by step into the abyss below, and said, "I saw Pei Chenxi."

The system asked him what he saw, but he refused to say.

He saw Pei Chenxi, who had no master, and was born with a handsome and gentle appearance, but was eventually forced to become violent.

Even without his master's guidance, Pei Chenxi did not commit evil. He killed the wicked demonic cultivators and the hypocrite who harmed his fellow disciples.

He never harmed anyone else; he was the most ruthless to himself in his life.

Xu Ran finally saw the pale and thin young man, tightly bound by several thick black iron bars. His chest did not rise or fall at all, as if he had already died.

That gold chain suits him better.

"He needs someone by his side..."

Xu Ran's hand passed through the surging demonic energy and tightly grasped that thin, weak hand.

He said, "Chenxi, wake up, Master is here to take you home."

The Demon Lord's eyelashes trembled. He didn't open his eyes, but the surging demonic energy around him subtly shifted, avoiding Xu Ran's outstretched hand.

Xu Ran, however, took another step forward, gently coaxing, "Chenxi, let go of yourself. If you keep like this, your master won't be able to hold you."

His hand instinctively curled up; he wanted to escape this dream, but was restrained by chains, with no way to avoid it, and then it was held even tighter.

This is yet another nightmare, the Demon Lord couldn't help but think. He had coaxed him to live, and now he was coaxing him to open his eyes.

But he couldn't help but open his eyes, and he saw a pair of gentle black eyes just like those in his dream.

"Chenxi, Master is late."

Pei Chenxi wanted to shake his head, but his neck was bound by black iron, so he couldn't move and even had trouble breathing.

So he could only slowly, with a voice that was a little hoarse from not using it for so long, refute the liar in his dream.

"I have no master."

He said, word by word, "I've never eaten fairy honey, I don't know how to use it to cut water, and I don't know how to make soup."

He saw it all, but it wasn't him.

Xu Ran gently touched his hair, then covered his eyes.

"Chenxi, don't cry..."

He didn't know that Pei Chenxi was waiting for him there.

The Demon Lord was momentarily bewildered, then suddenly smiled, his misty gray eyes filled with numbness.

"I am not Pei Chenxi, I am a demon."

No one calls him Pei Chenxi anymore.

Pei Chenxi died in Ghost Tomb Mountain. No one remembers that there was ever a Pei Chenxi in the world, and no one remembers that there was originally a handyman disciple on Qing Shuang Peak.

Xu Ran slowly lowered her hand and looked at those eyes. There were no tears, but those eyes were clearly crying.

Xu Ran began talking about his young apprentice: "He wanted to use the Immortal Spirit Grass to injure the hand of the person who stole his things, but I accidentally ruined it. Without me, would he have succeeded in blowing it up?"

The Demon Lord couldn't understand what he was saying, so he pursed his lips and remained silent.

Xu Ran chuckled softly and answered himself, "He got angry. The inner disciple's hand was badly injured and he had to rest for more than a month."

After the Immortal Venerable finished talking to himself, he looked seriously at the Demon Venerable and praised the boy who had no master to protect him: "Well done, really amazing."

The Demon Lord paused, feeling the Immortal Lord getting even closer. Through the cold chains, he actually felt a trace of warmth.

"Chenxi, come home with your master. Your master will teach you how to make soup."

The Demon Lord dared not breathe, dared not blink... This was a strange dream.

"Your master will teach you swordsmanship and give you immortal honey to drink."

The Demon Lord's lips were pressed tightly together. This was a dream... and the dream would end and disappear.

"Chenxi, your master misses you."

Tears welled in the Demon Lord's eyes. He trembled and shuddered as he uttered the two words he had silently whispered in his heart during the darkness and pain of the past few years.

"Master..."

Master, he's in so much pain. He doesn't like these chains, and he doesn't like the darkness either.

He likes peach blossoms, he likes grilled fish... but he has never tasted the flavor of grilled fish.

He was about to drown in this dream, and he was willing to drown in this dream.
