This scene depicts the male lead coming to find Chao Xi, wanting to take him back to the sect.

Pei Jinchen pursed his lips as he looked at the script, feeling somewhat annoyed. He had never acted before, so why had he agreed to help Xu Ran with this scene?

Xu Ran had a good memory; after reading it twice, she had almost memorized it. Looking at Pei Jinchen, who had a gloomy expression, through the script, her gaze lingered for a moment when she saw the band-aid on his finger, before she quietly looked away.

Pei Jinchen, being no actor, spoke with a somewhat indifferent tone: "Chaoxi, turn back before it's too late."

Director Li stared at Xu Ran; a good actor doesn't need others to guide him into the role.

Xu Ran's eyes were indifferent as she lightly raised the prop sword in her hand and pressed it against Pei Jinchen's chest, a flash of pain passing through her eyes.

Director Li's eyes lit up. If this were the actual filming, he would have urged people to cut to a close-up.

His black hair hung down over his forehead, making him look even younger than his actual age. He forced a smile, his voice hoarse, and murmured, "Senior brother, there's no going back now."

He stepped forward, but subtly withdrew his sword, preventing it from piercing the chest of the person in front of him. "Go, back to your Qingyun Sect."

Pei Jinchen was slightly taken aback, then raised his hand and grasped the blade of his sword. Xu Ran's pupils shrank upon seeing this, and he froze on the spot for a moment.

Pei Jinchen tried to touch his hair as he used to, but the sword was pressed against him and he couldn't reach it. He suddenly fell from the air.

He said, "Junior brother, the tip of your sword shouldn't be trembling."

Chao Xi was the most diligent junior brother in the Qingyun Sect. Although he was not as talented as the others, he was the most dedicated to practicing swordsmanship among them, practicing every day without fail, regardless of the changing seasons.

Pei Jinchen's eyes reddened, and he said softly, "Chaoxi, come back with me, and we'll figure something out together in the future."

The sword tip seemed to tremble even more violently. Xu Ran's eyes suddenly turned fierce, and he spoke urgently, as if trying to persuade Pei Jinchen, or perhaps trying to persuade himself.

"Go back? I am now the Demon Lord, revered by all. Do you really think I want to go back to being that incompetent disciple who was ridiculed by everyone?"

His moves were fierce, and with one palm strike he forced the man back several steps. However, when he turned to walk away, he stumbled and fell to the ground.

His smile widened, but a hint of tears appeared in the corners of his eyes.

Senior brother, I have long since passed away...

"Cut!" Director Li slapped his thigh and stood up, making no attempt to hide his satisfaction.

"Good, good, young man, not bad."

Upon hearing this, everyone in the room knew that the role of Chao Xi had been decided.

Pei Jinchen remained frozen in place, a bitter pain slowly rising in his heart. He suppressed the urge to help Xu Ran up, and watched indifferently as he got up on his own and left the room.

Director Li was clearly delighted to have secured an important role, but Pei Jinchen couldn't hear what he was rambling on about.

"Director Li, please continue watching. I have something to attend to, so I'll be leaving now."

Pei Jinchen exchanged a few pleasantries with a smile and left through the side door.

The audition location was somewhat remote, far from the city center, and the parking lot was nearly empty. Pei Jinchen sat in the car, a faint sense of irritation rising within him.

He doesn't want to go to the company today.

He disappeared without a trace, except for the company.

He was a young, promising talent, admired by everyone in the industry, but he sat alone in his car, not knowing where he was going.

The sun had already set, and the afterglow shone through the half-open car window onto his well-defined fingers, making the band-aid look extremely out of place.

He lightly bit the cigarette butt, the smoke drifting and obscuring his glasses, making it difficult to see clearly.

I shouldn't have come out today.

"Knock knock knock—"

There was a rhythmic knocking on the car window. Pei Jinchen's thoughts turned back, and he saw Xu Ran in the sunset.

The boy's handsome features were undisguised, and his eyes held a clear smile that was captivating.

Xu Ran paused slightly when she smelled the faint scent of tobacco in the air, then smiled and said, "President Pei, did you come to see me today?"

Pei Jinchen paused, his hand, covered in a bandage, gripping the steering wheel, a dull ache inexplicably: "I just came to watch the audition."

Xu Ran thought to herself that Pei Jinchen had invested in quite a few dramas in the past, but she had never heard of him personally attending any auditions. Hearing this, she showed no disappointment whatsoever and casually leaned into the car window: "Brother Lin, something's up. Could you give me a ride?"

Pei Jinchen frowned slightly, a hint of dislike for Lin Zhiwen rising in his heart: "He left you here alone?"

If an agent has gone this far, the Pei family should consider firing him.

Xu Ran quickly replied, "I knew you were here, so I let him go first."

I'm so sorry, Brother Lin. Xu Ran felt a pang of guilt. I almost made you lose your job. I'm so sorry.

Pei Jinchen was lost in thought for a moment, while the minor celebrity outside the car waited quietly. If he stayed here, he would probably create another ridiculous trending topic like #XuRanRunsAwayInTheStreet#.

He sighed softly, "Come on up."

The young star's eyes lit up, and he excitedly jumped into the passenger seat.

Pei Jinchen's words were stuck in his throat.

The system tugged at Xu Ran, who had already fastened her seatbelt: "Xiao Pei was planning to let you sit in the back seat."

Xu Ran raised an eyebrow slightly: "That's not good, it makes him look like my driver."

The passenger seat is different; that's where a lover should sit.

Pei Jinchen calmly watched as Xu Ran entered the location name into the navigation system, and then started the car.

As the car drove into the bustling city, Pei Jinchen's aura became visibly cold and imposing. He stopped at a red light intersection, his fingers unconsciously tapping the steering wheel.

The young man who had been quiet the whole way suddenly leaned down, his warm palm touching Pei Jinchen's slightly cool and stiff fingertips.

Are you injured?

Pei Jinchen adjusted his posture, subtly avoiding the question: "It's nothing."

It was just a mark that could be covered up with a band-aid, and few people would care, but Xu Ran insisted on digging deeper.

The hand applied the bandage gently and slowly, the warm touch causing Pei Jinchen to pause slightly.

With thirty seconds left before the green light, Xu Ran said softly, "Let me see."

Pei Jinchen pursed his lips and remained silent, his eyes lowered, and the glasses on his nose gleamed faintly.

With ten seconds left before the green light, Xu Ran removed Pei Jinchen's bandage.

The burn, exposed to the air and without proper treatment, was now red, swollen, and blistered.

The light turned green, and Pei Jinchen, his fingers slightly curled, stepped on the gas.

"Turn right."

For the first time, the young man's voice beside him carried the chill of the evening breeze, and Pei Jinchen's eyes trembled slightly.

"Turn right, there's a pharmacy."

Xu Ran repeated.

Pei Jinchen seemed unresponsive, then heard the young man beside him chuckle helplessly, "Then let's go to my house, I have medicine there."

Bringing a sugar daddy who's not in a good state home should also be considered an obligation of a mistress.

There was no burn ointment at home, and the little system immediately understood: "I'll go buy some right now!"

Pei Jinchen didn't quite understand what he was saying. His throat tightened, and he couldn't utter a single word.

The burn on my finger suddenly became unbearably painful.

He doesn't want to go to the company today.
