The next second, Gu Yang suddenly lunged forward, gripping Ling Luo's nape tightly with both hands, giving him no chance to react, and kissed him fiercely!

Teeth struck lips, and a faint taste of blood lingered between them.

Ling Luo's mind went completely blank with a "buzz".

His muscles tensed instantly, and he instinctively reached out to push Gu Yang away.

"Gu Yang, do you know what you're doing?" His voice was hoarse, his last line of defense crumbling under the barbaric onslaught.

"I'm an adult, I have my own judgment," Gu Yang said, pressing him down firmly to prevent him from moving away, his breath ragged as he defiantly said, "Go ahead and sue me if you dare."

Upon hearing this, Ling Luo was both amused and exasperated.

Fool, how could he bear to do that?

With a soft sigh, Ling Luo gave up resisting: "Then you'll regret it."

"I've never regretted it."

Hearing Gu Yang say this, Ling Luo chuckled and removed Gu Yang's hand from her face.

"Fool, that's not how you kiss."

Before he finished speaking, he wrapped his arm around Gu Yang's waist, turned him around, and used his body weight to pin him firmly against the wall behind him, making him unable to move.

They took advantage of the situation and turned the tables.

The cold walls and the burning hot body in front of him created a stark contrast.

Ling Luo's kiss was filled with a desperate madness and an all-consuming possessiveness.

Ling Luo was no longer the calm and composed researcher he once was. He was like a caged beast that had been suppressed for too long, finally breaking free from the shackles of reason.

He pried open Gu Yang's teeth, conquered territory, and with an undeniable force, transferred all his aura to him.

Gu Yang was completely dumbfounded.

He had imagined that Ling Luo would push him away more forcefully, say more hurtful things, or even throw him out.

He never expected that Ling Luo would respond to him in a way that was even more ruthless and domineering than he had ever imagined.

That once scarred hand was now tightly gripping the back of his neck, not with much force, but enough to keep him from pulling away.

The icy lips were like an electric current, instantly shattering all his anger and resentment.

So it turns out... he wasn't just wishful thinking.

It turns out that this person, who had wrapped himself in an ice cocoon, also harbored a volcano within his body.

Gu Yang's tense body softened little by little. The hand that was originally supporting Ling Luo's chest unconsciously wrapped around his neck, and his fingertips dug into Ling Luo's slightly damp hair, clumsily beginning to respond.

The air in the room seemed to have been sucked out, but the temperature was rising rapidly.

The sounds of breathing and the subtle rustling of clothes were amplified infinitely in the dim light. He didn't know how much time had passed—so long that Gu Yang felt his lungs were about to explode—before Ling Luo finally loosened her grip on him slightly.

Their foreheads touched, their hot breaths mingling, and neither of them spoke.

Gu Yang was panting heavily, his lips swollen and glistening with moisture.

He could feel Ling Luo's heartbeat, so fast it felt like it was about to burst out of her chest, each beat hitting his heart heavily.

"You..." Gu Yanggang's voice was hoarse as soon as he opened his mouth.

He cleared his throat, wanting to say something to break the almost melting atmosphere, such as "Are you that experienced? So ruthless?" or "Why didn't you do this earlier? Why did you have to torture me like this?"

But the words that came out of his mouth turned into a muffled groan with a thick nasal tone.

"You bastard."

He buried his face in Lingluo's neck, like a small animal that had finally found its home, his voice filled with the relief of surviving a disaster and the lingering grievances.

Ling Luo chuckled. This guy was clearly the one who took the initiative first.

He raised his hand, but it eventually landed on Gu Yang's back, patting him gently as if to comfort him.

"Yeah, I'm a bastard." His voice was hoarse, with a resigned sigh. "A coward, a shrinking turtle, a bastard for life."

He repeated the words he had just used to insult him.

Gu Yang was amused by his frank confession and raised his head to give him a light bite on the shoulder.

"You know that much is good!"

Through a thin layer of pajamas, the force of her teeth wasn't strong; it was more like she was being affectionate.

Ling Luo seemed to be burned, her body trembled violently, and her hand gripping Gu Yang's shoulder tightened involuntarily.

"Guyang," he called softly.

"What?" Gu Yang replied sullenly, still refusing to look up.

"I lost."

Ling Luo's voice was soft, yet it was like a pebble that created ripples in Gu Yang's heart.

Gu Yang raised his head.

Under the dim light, Ling Luo's facial features appeared exceptionally soft, and his eyes, which always seemed icy even when he smiled, finally warmed up, clearly reflecting his solitary figure.

"What did you lose?" Gu Yang asked knowingly, but his heart started pounding uncontrollably.

"I don't want to push you away anymore." Ling Luo looked at him and said, word by word, "I don't want to lie to myself anymore, and I don't want to lie to you anymore."

"My job and my future are indeed full of uncertainty. I may disappear at any time, and I may not be able to contact you for several years. I can't give you the stability and companionship that ordinary people have."

He laid out once again the reasons he had used to hurt himself and to reject Gu Yang.

But this time, his tone lacked the cold resolve, helplessness, and struggle; he simply calmly stated the reasons that prevented him from taking another step forward.

Ling Luo spoke cautiously, even with a plea: "Gu Yang, please don't regret what I've done, okay?"

Gu Yang's heart trembled slightly, and his hands around Ling Luo's neck tightened slightly, as if he wanted to meld him into his very bones.

"I will never, ever regret it, Ling Luo, believe me."

Gu Yang slightly raised his head and looked into Ling Luo's eyes:

"I know. Ling Luo, don't treat me like a fool, I'm not a child."

Gu Yang's words made Ling Luo freeze.

"What did you say?"

"Do you really think I'm stupid?" Gu Yang curled his lips, released his grip on Ling Luo, and instead stretched out his index finger to poke Ling Luo's chest repeatedly.

"Four years ago, you disappeared without a word, and all those trophies you brought back tell me that your future is anything but ordinary, especially since you're a top student."

Gu Yang's eyes reddened, and his voice choked with suppressed sobs.

"I don't care how long I have to wait—four years, fourteen years, forty years, I can wait. I'm just afraid..."

"I'm afraid I won't be able to wait for you."

"I'm afraid you'll leave without a word, just like you did in high school, leaving me all alone without even a thought of you."

Gu Yang's voice carried years of pent-up fear and resentment. "What I'm afraid of is never how secretive your work is or how uncertain your future is! What I'm afraid of is that you see yourself as an outsider, coldly observing this world, and that world includes me!"

Gu Yang spoke his last sentence very seriously.
