Police Chief's Anti-Organized Crime Storm

Just as Ma Guoliang finished his phone call, there was a knock on the office door—one light knock, two heavy knocks.

"Come in." Ma Guoliang immediately recognized the voice as that of Wang Yuanming, the deputy director of the office, who was also his liaison and secretary.

"Secretary Ma, Secretary Yan from the Discipline Inspection Commission is here. He's been waiting outside for a long time, saying he wants to see you. Judging by his posture, he's not going to leave until he sees you." Wang Yuanming was a little embarrassed. Everyone in the county knew that Yan Qingshan was a stubborn mule. He had never gotten along with the secretary and the deputy county head. He had been quiet for a long time before, but now that Lin Ying had arrived, it seemed like he had found a backer. This guy was starting to act up again.

"Yan Qingshan? What's he doing here?" Ma Guoliang frowned slightly. At the last county standing committee meeting, Yan Qingshan clearly supported Lin Ying. It seems this guy is trying to make a comeback!

"I don't know, they just said they needed to talk to you about something, and they've been waiting!"

"Alright, let him in." Ma Guoliang waved his hand impatiently. The situation outside was very serious, so the internal situation couldn't be chaotic either. Otherwise, he, as the county party secretary, would definitely be held accountable. He just didn't know when the city leaders would arrive.

Wang Yuanming walked out of the office, and a moment later, there was a knock on the door, and Yan Qingshan walked in.

"Secretary Ma." Yan Qingshan looked rather unwell. Ma Guoliang frowned again and gestured to the sofa: "Sit."

To everyone's surprise, Yan Qingshan didn't sit down, but stood up and said, "Secretary Ma, have you finished reading the materials about Comrade Lü Dayong? Shouldn't we have an explanation, or perhaps we should hold a Standing Committee meeting to discuss it?"

Ma Guoliang was startled and glanced at Yan Qingshan. Almost a week had passed since this incident, yet Yan Qingshan still remembered it. Was he trying to force Ma Guoliang's hand? Knowing full well that Lü Dayong was Liu Yixiong's man, and Liu Yixiong was in turn Ma Guoliang's man, was Yan Qingshan really so ungrateful?!

"Secretary Yan, I've finished reading the materials. Tell me the specifics, what do you want to do?" If he hadn't finished reading the materials within a week, Yan Qingshan would definitely have called a meeting to discuss it directly.

"Secretary Ma, I suggest we have a meeting to discuss this. After all, Lü Dayong is the captain of the county criminal police team. We can't act rashly. We must make sure the evidence is solid."

"Secretary Yan, you also know that evidence is essential? You're making such a hasty judgment, aren't you wronging a certain comrade?" Ma Guoliang stared straight at Yan Qingshan, his eyes blazing with anger. He hadn't even recovered from the humiliation he suffered at Wang Dalong's hands yet, and now Yan Qingshan was bothering him. He really didn't know what was good for him!

"Secretary Ma, you can't say that. I've already conducted a preliminary investigation and collected evidence. Lü Dayong does indeed have serious problems, and some basic evidence has been gathered. Therefore, I suggest..."

"Enough!" Ma Guoliang raised his hand, interrupting Yan Qingshan. His gaze towards Yan Qingshan was filled with anger, almost overflowing.

Yan Qingshan was slightly taken aback. He hadn't expected that Ma Guoliang would turn against him for Lü Dayong's sake.

"Secretary Ma, I believe that Lü Datong does indeed have significant problems. We should convene a county standing committee meeting to discuss his issues, as required by regulations, and..."

"I've said enough!" Ma Guoliang stood up abruptly, his gaze towards Yan Qingshan filled with even more intense anger. Yan Qingshan's body jolted violently as he glared at Ma Guoliang, his neck stiff like a fighting rooster.

He never expected that Ma Guoliang would openly protect Lü Dayong. It seems that Ma Guoliang is indeed the person behind Lü Dayong.

"Yan Qingshan, as the secretary of the county discipline inspection commission, your primary task is to enforce Party discipline and conduct, not to make a fuss over the problems of a particular comrade. This makes people think that you are intentionally targeting Lü Dayong. Secretary Yan, you're not really doing this because of what happened to your sister-in-law a few years ago, are you?"

Yan Qingshan's expression changed, and he looked at Ma Guoliang in shock. He hadn't expected Ma Guoliang to say such a thing. It seemed that he had really overestimated him. Lu Dayong and Ma Guoliang definitely had a secret relationship.

"Qingshan, you're a veteran cadre now. We must act with reason and evidence, and not give anyone any leverage. Is it too hasty to investigate your comrade based on just a few documents? If other comrades find out, they might think our Discipline Inspection Commission has problems with its investigation capabilities. Do you understand?"

Yan Qingshan was so angry he almost lost his temper. Was Ma Guoliang directly speaking up for Lü Dayong?

"Secretary Ma, you can't say that. Lü Dayong's problems have been going on for a long time. If we don't take it seriously now, it might be too late once things escalate."

"What do you mean? What major incident could a criminal investigation team leader possibly have that's about to escalate? Isn't it too late? Comrade Qingshan, how much do you want Lü Dayong to get into trouble?"

Upon hearing this, Yan Qingshan's anger flared up instantly, and his gaze towards Ma Guoliang became uncontrollable. Just as he was about to say something, his phone suddenly rang urgently. He looked down at it, his expression changed slightly, and he did not answer the call immediately.

"Alright, Secretary Qingshan, you can go back now. I'll think about Comrade Lü Dayong's matter more carefully. You don't need to rush. As for your investigation, you should investigate. No one is stopping you. I'm just reminding you that when investigating a comrade, you must have factual evidence. You can't just make a big deal out of some written materials. Understand?"

Yan Qingshan was so angry he almost twisted his nose. It seemed that Ma Guoliang wasn't planning to return those materials to him, and Lin Ying had guessed correctly.

He said nothing more, turned and walked out of Ma Guoliang's office. The latter narrowed his eyes slightly, a chilling aura emanating from them. This Yan Qingshan is truly a scoundrel, actually jumping out at this time. It seems he needs to be taught a lesson; otherwise, he won't know who's really in charge in Gaoshan!

Ma Guoliang picked up the phone and dialed...

Back in his office, Yan Qingshan felt a tightness in his chest. Even though he knew this would be the outcome, even though he knew the entire Gaoshan organization was rotten to the core, hearing Ma Guoliang's words still filled him with immense anger. These people protecting each other, providing a shield for organized crime, was bad enough, but to use his own family as a pretext was utterly outrageous! Ma Guoliang, just you wait. He will find out what happened back then, and he will avenge himself.

Thinking of the phone call he had just received, he quickly took out his phone: "Hey, Director Lin, things are not looking good, just as you thought. What should we do next? We might not be able to touch Lü Dayong."

"We have to act even if we can't. Since Ma Guoliang refuses to touch Lü Dayong, then leave him to us!" She's already arrested Li Jianmin, so why should she be afraid of Lü Dayong?!
