The Heiress's Game

Chapter 180 I wish I knew nothing

Bai Tianyi spent two whole days enjoying himself in Dahai City.

Zhang Zhuoran took him to eat at all the newly opened trendy restaurants, then to a vinyl record bar hidden in an old building in Causeway Bay, and finally to a boutique specializing in vintage watches where he found a limited edition watch that he had been longing for for several years.

Despite having fun, he was always on edge – tomorrow was the day he had promised his older brother to go back to Yunjing together.

He hadn't forgotten the promise he'd made to his elder brother: he wouldn't disturb him and his sister-in-law during his stay in Dahai City, but they had to go to the airport together on the day they returned.

So that evening, Bai Tianyi carried a box of freshly baked mango crepes to the entrance of Suiyuan Garden.

In the living room, Gu Yunjin nestled in a corner of the sofa, covered with a beige cashmere blanket, holding a steaming cup of jujube tea in her hands.

Bai Junze sat next to her, looking down at his phone replying to emails.

"Big brother! I'm here to report for duty!" Bai Tianyi walked into the living room with practiced ease.

"What time do we leave tomorrow? I think we don't need to rush. Getting to the airport by 10 o'clock is fine. Zhang Zhuoran said that the airport expressway is under construction recently, so it's safer to allow an extra half hour for buffer time."

"Sister-in-law! I brought you milk tea, all sweet!"

Bai Tianyi put the milk tea on the coffee table, plopped down on the opposite sofa, and glanced back and forth between the two of them.

"You go back first, I'll probably stay for another four or five days." Bai Junze didn't even look up, his voice was very calm.

Bai Tianyi blinked, then blinked again, and then revealed a sly smile:

"Big brother, when did you learn to 'forget the morning court from now on'? There are a bunch of people at the company waiting for you to go back for a meeting, and you're actually going to stay in Dahai City for another four or five days?"

This isn't like you at all. You used to travel for business on the same day and never stay overnight. What could be more important than a business deal worth billions this time?

Bai Junze put down his phone, looked up at him, and spoke in a calm tone, but the content was anything but calm.

"Yun Jin is injured, so I'm staying to take care of her."

Bai Tianyi's smile vanished instantly. He sprang up from the sofa and rushed to Gu Yunjin, his expression tense and concerned.

"Sister-in-law, you're injured? How did you get hurt? Where are you hurt? Is it serious? Did you go to the hospital? What did the doctor say?"

Gu Yunjin's hand holding the jujube tea froze for a moment. Looking down at the steam rising from the teacup, her ears visibly flushed pink. Perhaps she should just play dead.

Bai Junze answered for her, "Children shouldn't know so much about adult matters."

Bai Tianyi was stunned for a moment, looking at his elder brother's smug face and then at his sister-in-law's expression that seemed to want to bury her face in her teacup.

His brain raced for three seconds, then his pupils dilated suddenly, and his expression changed from confusion to shock, and then from shock to an awkward "I understand, but I wish I didn't" feeling.

His ears also turned red, mirroring Gu Yunjin's redness, instantly filling the living room with a subtly awkward atmosphere.

"Ah—that—I understand."

"No need to say anything more, I won't ask anymore." He took two steps back, plopped back down on the sofa, took a big gulp of his milk tea, and didn't know where to look. He couldn't see the ceiling, nor the floor.

But he only quieted down for a moment before he couldn't help but start muttering, with a hint of resentment and grievance:

"I'm already in my mid-twenties, why do you still treat me like a child?"

Bai Junze looked up from his phone screen and glanced at him indifferently.

The meaning in his eyes was clear: Try saying one more word.

Gu Yunjin checked the time and turned to Bai Tianyi.

"Tianyi, it's getting late. Why don't you stay at Suiyuan tonight? Don't go back to the hotel. It'll be more convenient to go directly to the airport from here tomorrow morning."

Bai Tianyi immediately forgot his earlier embarrassment, his eyes lit up, and he regained his usual carefree demeanor:

"Really? Sister-in-law, you're so wonderful! No wonder my brother insisted on marrying you!"

My luggage is in the car outside. I'll have the housekeeper arrange for someone to fetch it right away. We'll have a good get-together tonight.

After he finished speaking, he seemed to remember something and pointed to the pastries he had brought.

"Oh, by the way, this is delicious. Sister-in-law, you should try it. I went out of my way to queue up to buy it; I waited for almost an hour. I just don't know if you can eat it now."

After saying that, he realized he might have asked too many questions, so he quickly stood up and ran to the door to find the butler to arrange his luggage.
