The Heiress's Game

Chapter 188 I'm Not Satisfied with the Jewelry Design

The wedding was held in both Yunjing City and Dahai City. Gu Yunjin felt that she had never been so tired in her life.

She changed her wedding dress five or six times, each with different makeup, hair, jewelry, and shoes.

The main dress for the main event alone had a train that was several meters long. It took three people to carry her while she was walking. She almost tripped while trying it on and was only able to stand up after being helped by Qian Yuewei.

After two weddings, she felt like she had smiled so much her face was stiff for the rest of her life.

Their honeymoon was in Italy, from Rome to Florence, from the vineyards of Tuscany to the cliffside towns of the Amalfi Coast.

Bai Junze rented an old Alfa Romeo and drove along the country roads of Tuscany, with vineyards on both sides gleaming golden-green in the sunlight.

They spent a week in a 16th-century villa on the shores of Lake Como, sleeping in every day, having breakfast on the terrace with views of the lake and mountains, and then walking hand in hand down the hillside to stroll around the town's small church and antique bookstores.

After a week, Bai Junze wore linen shirts and khaki pants every day. He got a little tanned, but looked several years younger than usual.

It was two weeks later when they flew back to Yunjing from Rome.

The couple chose a quiet villa area in the north of Yunjing City as their wedding home.

This area is a long-established luxury residential area in Yunjing, where the canopies of plane trees on both sides intertwine in the air, forming a green corridor.

The car stopped in front of a three-story modern villa with white exterior walls, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and two ginkgo trees in the yard, their golden leaves carpeting the ground.

Bai Junze took the suitcase out of the trunk. "This house was bought before we got married, and the renovation was done according to your preferred style. This will be our home from now on."

Gu Yunjin stood in the entryway, looking at everything before her.

The floor was light wood, the walls were off-white, the windows were large, and the curtains were matcha green, the same color she had mentioned to him once.

The lamps were designed by a Scandinavian independent designer that she had collected. She had only mentioned these details to him once, but he remembered them all.

Neither of them had much time for reflection, as they were both very busy people.

Xingyao Media's headquarters had officially moved to Yunjing during her honeymoon. Nan Zhenquan and Li Chunjing led the entire team to complete this cross-city relocation within two months.

The new office is located on the 19th floor of a Grade A office building in Yunjing CBD. The entire floor has been opened up, and the decoration style continues the white and light wood tones of the headquarters in Dahaicheng.

But it has a larger area and a more open layout, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the skyline of Yunjing City, and on a clear day you can see the distant, continuous Western Mountain range.

On Gu Yunjin's first day at the company, Nan Zhenquan placed a relocation summary report on her desk.

"All departments are operating normally. Chen Cui's post-production editing for the second season is nearing completion, and the new autumn collection for the clothing line will be available next week."

The supply chain plan for the jewelry line has been sent to your email. Welcome back to work, Mr. Gu.

"Thank you for your hard work." Gu Yunjin opened the report.

After Nan Zhenquan left, Gu Yunjin sat in her office chair looking at the first batch of design drafts for the jewelry line.

From Dahai City to Yunjing, it can be considered a marriage to a distant place.

But the phrase "newcomer" and "cautious" are not in her vocabulary.

Standing in her office on the nineteenth floor of Yunjing CBD, she felt only one emotion—ambition.

She is no longer the second young lady in the Gu family who had to be mindful of others' feelings; she is Bai Junze's wife, the founder of Xingyao Media, and the behind-the-scenes operator of Yunjing Capital.

These identities combined carry far more weight than the title of "Second Miss Gu".

She had carefully reviewed the jewelry supply chain plan. Fang Jin's efficiency was as high as ever, with detailed plans for every step, from the purchase of loose stones to the setting process to the mass production schedule.

But the design drafts—she opened the folder and looked through them page by page.

Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings—the styles cover the most mainstream accessible luxury styles currently on the market.

Simple geometric designs, retro Baroque designs, and sweet rhinestone designs—every design sketch is exquisitely drawn, demonstrating professionalism, standardization, and reliability.

But none of them caught her eye.

She grew up in the Gu family. Su Wanning didn't leave her many pieces of jewelry, but each one was a masterpiece.

She had seen the collection in the Gu family's safe and had flipped through the jewelry catalogs of major auction houses.

The pigeon egg that Bai Junze proposed with, which could be disassembled into three different designs, is now quietly resting on her ring finger.

These designs would be considered acceptable or even excellent by ordinary accessible luxury brands, but for Xingyao's jewelry line—they are too mediocre.

After Gu Yunjin finished making the internal call, Wen Qi, the newly appointed head of the jewelry line, came in.

"But in terms of design, to be honest, none of them really caught my eye."

As a consumer, I've seen these styles countless times from other brands; they've just changed the material or the color scheme, but they're essentially the same.

As a businessman, I know that launching such a design to the market won't cause any major problems or make any mistakes, but it certainly won't be amazing either.

Xingyao doesn't want to avoid making mistakes; it wants to break out of its niche.

These designs are still a long way from becoming mainstream.

Wen Qi gave a wry smile and nodded frankly: "President Gu, to be honest, I'm not entirely satisfied with these drafts myself."

Jewelry requires a very high level of original design ability. Most of the established designers available in the market are monopolized by a few big brands. There are quite a few independent designers, but their styles are either too niche or too similar.

I've already reported this to General Manager Nan, and he's instructed the HR department to go all out with the recruitment. They've been conducting intensive interviews these past few days, and I'll report back to you once I have a preliminary list of candidates.

Gu Yunjin nodded and didn't say anything more.

This is also the most distressing thing for this generation of young people. When they walk on the street, the jewelry they see is almost all made from the same mold, without any soul.

The jewelry she wanted had to be so eye-catching that it would be impossible to look away at first glance.

After Wen Qi left, she picked up her phone, wanting to share her work progress with Bai Junze.

The call was answered quickly, and there was some background noise, as if it were coming from outside a conference room.

"What time do you get off work today? Are you settling into the new office? Do you need me to pick you up?"

"I can drive back by myself. Work is okay, but I'm not satisfied with the design drafts for the jewelry line. They are urgently recruiting designers and have been interviewing people these past few days."

This should be the first tough nut to crack after I move to Yunjing.

The other end of the phone seemed to have moved to a quieter place. "What kind of person is worth your personal attention?"

"Someone who can amaze me at first glance." Gu Yunjin's tone carried a hint of longing.

Bai Junze chuckled, "Then I'll go home early tonight and look at the designers' work with you."

Maybe I can give you some inspiration, or we can just work overtime at home. I'll look at my documents, and you can work on your jewelry. We won't waste each other's time.

Gu Yunjin smiled. From initial unfamiliarity to current familiarity, she had long since fallen in love with this city.
