When Lin Zhou followed Gu Yuning all the way to the outside of the teaching building, the scene had completely descended into chaos!

Students and tourists who were holding events in the vicinity were all evacuated. Several student council members set up a temporary cordon. A lot of black smoke was billowing out of the windows on the third floor of the teaching building, and occasionally orange flames could be seen shooting out!

"President!"

Upon seeing Gu Yuning arrive, the student council members in charge of the scene immediately ran over. "The fire started on the north side of the third floor first, and now it has spread to the sides. Most of the people inside are evacuating, but the number of people hasn't been fully counted yet."

"How much longer until the fire department starts operating?" Gu Yuning asked. "Have the fire suppression systems in the stairwell been activated?"

"They should be here soon; the firefighters from the academy have already gone ahead."

Gu Yuning looked up at the third floor and began to calmly give instructions, "Don't worry about the equipment for now. Everyone evacuate. Cut off the power to all the nearby stalls and make sure there are no people still inside."

"good!"

Lin Zhou stood to the side watching people run out of the teaching building. At first, he wasn't too nervous.

After all, he had just been sleeping inside.

I've been out for so long, and most of my classmates are preparing for the afternoon's auditorium activities. Wanwan was even taken away by the publicity team to take photos. It seems unlikely that anyone would be foolish enough to stay inside.

Thinking about this, Lin Zhou even felt a little scared.

Fortunately, Yu Ning sent her a message.

Otherwise, I might still be lying in the lounge sleeping like a log, and when I wake up, I'll be cremated.

"Lin Zhou." Gu Yuning turned and glanced at him. "Where are the people from your class?"

"Let me ask."

Lin Zhou took out his phone to contact his classmates when he saw several familiar people running out of the teaching building. One or two of them were covered in dust, and the student in charge of the script was even carrying the script that was only half-revised.

"Why did you bring this out?" Lin Zhou couldn't help but ask.

"Screw you, it was just something I grabbed!" the other person panted. "I was right next to the table, and after hearing the announcement, I just grabbed it and ran!"

"Talented individuals."

"Has everyone come out yet?" Lin Zhou asked.

"They should all be out by now. Most of the people who were in the classroom have come down."

Lin Zhou looked around but couldn't find that familiar figure. "Where's Wanwan?"

"Didn't Wanwan go to shoot promotional photos?"

"Oh right." Lin Zhou was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when he suddenly heard a series of hurried footsteps beside him.

The girl in charge of publicity ran out from the crowd. She seemed to have just come out from the other side of the teaching building. Her face was a little pale, and she was panting as she looked back at the teaching building behind her.

Upon seeing her, Lin Zhou instinctively asked, "Where's Wanwan?"

"Lin Zhou?" The girl was taken aback.

"Huh?" The girl stared at him with wide eyes, remaining silent for several seconds.

Lin Zhou's heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason. "What's wrong?"

"You... what are you doing here?"

"I just went out with Yu Ning," Lin Zhou said, frowning. "Where's Wanwan? Wasn't she taking pictures with you guys?"

"..."

The girl's face instantly turned even uglier. "She thought you were still sleeping in the lounge."

Lin Zhou stepped forward. "What do you mean?!"

"After hearing the announcement, she suddenly said you were still on the third floor, and then she ran inside. We called her, but she didn't stop..."

"Third floor."

"..."

Thick smoke continued to billow out of the third-floor windows. What was initially just one or two spots with flames was now clearly spreading to the sides.

Wanwan went inside. She went to find herself.

Lin Zhou's mind went completely blank at that moment.

Late late ...

"Lin Zhou!" Gu Yuning had obviously heard the conversation and almost immediately reached out to grab Lin Zhou's arm. "Don't be impulsive, the fire department will be here soon!"

The next second, Lin Zhou broke free from Gu Yuning's hand and rushed into the teaching building without regard for anything else.

"Lin Zhou!"

The person on guard noticed someone approaching and immediately reached out to stop them, saying, "Student! You can't go in!"

"Someone has already confirmed it. You can leave now!"

Lin Zhou didn't stop at all. He turned sideways to avoid the other person, and crashed through the not-yet-fully-closed safety door and rushed inside.

"Lin Zhou!!!!"

The sound of Gu Yuning chasing after them came from behind.

But Lin Zhou was no longer listening.

……

It wasn't until he entered the teaching building that Lin Zhou truly understood what the black smoke he had seen outside meant.

Visibility in the entire corridor was frighteningly low. The alarms above were blaring and water was being sprayed continuously. Smoke was billowing out along the stairs and corridor. As soon as Lin Zhou took his first breath, he felt as if something had scraped his throat hard, and he immediately started coughing violently.

"Cough cough..."

This is too pungent.

When I was standing outside, I only thought it was on fire, but once I came in, it was a completely different experience.

Besides the smell of burning, the air was filled with the pungent odor of burning plastic and wood. My eyes were stinging from the smoke, and even with my eyes open, they kept tearing up.

Lin Zhou raised his hand to cover his mouth and nose and ran quickly toward the stairs.

The first floor is alright.

Once we reached the second floor, the smoke became noticeably thicker, and we could hear cracking sounds from above from time to time. Some of the decorations that had been pasted up on the walls for the school anniversary had fallen to the ground, making a series of messy, crisp sounds when we stepped on them.

"Wanwan!" Lin Zhou called out.

no respond.

As soon as he reached the top of the stairs on the third floor, a wave of heat that was noticeably stronger than the heat below hit him, and he almost instinctively took a half step back!

Flames were visible on one side of the corridor, shooting upwards along the pile of construction materials. Black smoke almost completely blocked the view ahead. The corridor, which they were so familiar with that they could walk with their eyes closed, was now completely obscured, making it impossible to see what was beyond ten meters!

"Damn it..." Lin Zhou panicked for the first time.

He wasn't worried about his own safety; he just didn't know where Wanwan was.

"Late...late late..."

Lin Zhou shouted at the top of his lungs, but as soon as he finished shouting, he was choked by the smoke and bent over coughing violently, and his chest began to feel tight!

He suddenly thought of something.

X-ray glasses.

Lin Zhou immediately took out his glasses from his pocket and put them on. The moment he started the camera, the parts that were originally obscured by smoke and walls began to gradually become transparent. Lin Zhou's gaze quickly swept across the entire third floor!

The lounge was empty.

The classroom was empty.

There was no corridor.

Further inside—

Lin Zhou suddenly stopped.

White!

It was the silhouette of a person on the other side of the third floor.

"Wanwan..."

found it!

Bai Wanwan was just a few dozen meters away from her, but the section of the corridor where she was had been cut off by flames on both sides. Next to her were metal frames and wooden boards used for the school anniversary celebration. One of the tall shelves was deformed by the fire and was slowly tilting towards her.

"Wanwan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
