Gundam 00: Rise of China
Chapter 18: Maybe that celestial being is even a Ceylonian?
Upon hearing this, Anura downed the rest of the wine and then burst into laughter.
"Don't worry, Vikram," Anura said earnestly, patting her friend Vikram on the shoulder.
"I'm a demon who crawled out of hell, after all. I know what I should and shouldn't do."
"But speaking of which, the Celestial Being Gundam pilot who fought me last time was really interesting."
"Oh? What's so interesting about that?"
After staring at Anura for a long time, Vikram made sure that the other party wouldn't go crazy before asking curiously.
"Through his movements during the battle, I could clearly see that he was hesitant and conflicted."
Anula gave her friend another reassuring look, then turned to recall some subtle discordant notes from their last battle.
"Everything was normal at first, but as time went on, the opponent's fighting spirit seemed to waver noticeably."
"On several occasions, he clearly had the opportunity to kill my men with a single blow."
"But surprisingly, all of my men survived, especially when they risked their lives to cover each other."
"The pilot of the Celestial Gundam was stunned for a few seconds, making no move whatsoever, which allowed my subordinates to escape."
"It gives people the feeling of..."
"It's like seeing people who were originally enemies become comrades-in-arms and even risk their lives to protect each other—it's such a fantastical thing."
Upon hearing this, Vikram blinked and was momentarily stunned. He lowered his head and stroked his chin with his fingers, deep in thought.
After a long while, he suddenly raised his head, his eyes shining, and uttered a wildly imaginative guess.
"Do you think there's a possibility?"
"Maybe the pilot of that Celestial Being Gundam was even born on our island of Ceylon!"
"I was terrified to see people who hated each other fighting side by side!"
After saying that, Vikram was amused by his own guess before Anura could even reply.
The main point is that this guess is really too funny. Could the Gundam pilot of the Celestial Being organization that stirred up the storm be someone born on Ceylon Island?
If he was indeed born in Ceylon, then he stirred things up at the most crucial moment for Ceylon.
It almost shattered the peace of Ceylon!
Thinking of this, Vikram suddenly couldn't laugh anymore. What if this seemingly joking guess really came true...?
Squeezing the beer can in his hand, Vikram vowed that even if it cost him his life, he would bite a piece off that damned 'traitor'!
The hard-won peace on Ceylon Island was shattered by the sabotage of "our own people," and no one on the island will let that bastard get away with it!
"What kind of nonsense are you thinking about?"
Anura shook his head, his expression conflicted, before he spoke as if trying to convince himself.
"How could the pilot of the Celestials be from Ceylon...?"
"Furthermore, outsiders don't pay attention to the situation on Ceylon, but even those born here can find a way to survive outside the island."
"Shouldn't they at least pay some attention? How could they do something like this?"
"Why not? Anything is possible..."
"Maybe?"
Vikram was about to respond to Anura, but before he could speak, a steady voice suddenly came out from behind them.
"After listening to Lieutenant Anura's words, I think Lieutenant Vikram's guess might not be impossible."
The sound startled the two people who were whispering in the corner of the playground.
Long-term training made them jump up from the stone benches almost reflexively and turn around quickly.
The newcomer was none other than Wang Ye, and this renowned major of the base stood behind them with a faint smile on his face.
Wang Ye, dressed in a crisp People's Revolutionary Army officer's uniform, had his major rank insignia gleaming in the setting sun.
Behind him stood Captain Wei Meng and Lieutenant Piris, who was new to the base and not well-known to the other staff. Both of them had serious expressions on their faces.
It was the serious expressions of these two lieutenants that made the two lieutenants, who were born in Ceylon, feel uneasy.
Vikram glanced almost imperceptibly at Anura beside him, mainly because he didn't know how long the three masters in front of him had been there, or how long they had been talking.
The later claim that the Celestial Pilot was born in Ceylon was nothing special; I just listened and let it go.
But what if you still hear Anura express even a trace of longing for the concept of the divine?
Even though he later tried to make amends for Anura, Anura himself said that the concept of Heaven and Man was not as good as the Human Revolutionary Alliance.
That will also affect your future and career advancement!
After all, loyalty can be fatal if it wavers even slightly!
"Major!"
All sorts of deadly thoughts raced through their minds, but outwardly, Anura and Vikram stood at attention and gave a standard military salute.
Their hearts were pounding, worried about what might happen next, whether it was a storm or something else entirely.
Even if they're just pretending, they still have to put on an attitude that they can say anything without reservation.
We are all staunch and loyal members of the People's Revolutionary Army.
"Don't be shy."
Wang Ye was fully aware of their thoughts, so he waved his hand to reassure them that things weren't so boring here.
They might make arbitrary judgments about people based on trivial or unfounded reasons.
"As you all know, I just came back from the military headquarters. I originally wanted to join in the fun and have some fun, but I saw you guys chatting here, so I came to check it out."
As they were talking, Wang Ye walked to the stone bench and sat down, then asked Wei Meng to get him a few bottles of beer.
When Wei Meng brought over the beer, Wang Ye unscrewed the bottle cap and poured a glass for himself, Anura, and Vikram.
Finally, he raised his head and looked at the two people who were still standing in front of him as if they were being punished, with poker faces waiting for their verdict.
"I heard everything you just said."
Wang Ye beckoned the two to sit down and slowly began to speak. Before he could finish his sentence, the two jumped up like springs in surprise.
"I'm very sorry, Major Wang Ye, we were just having a casual chat."
Vikram quickly spoke up to explain before Anura could take all the blame.
"You know Anura, he's in his late thirties, almost forty, and he's weathered many storms."
"I would never do anything that would make everyone regret it just because of some inexplicable high profile."
