The next day.

The hospital scene was the one that the entire crew spent the longest time preparing for.

Nolan has been preparing for this scene since the script was finalized.

The scene was set on an abandoned building in the suburbs.

The set design team spent more than two weeks transforming it into a "Gotham General Hospital".

The exterior walls were painted, a sign was hung at the entrance, and even a lightbox for the emergency room was made.

In the lobby, there were real hospital beds, real wheelchairs, and real IV stands.

From a distance, it looks exactly like the real thing.

But the real challenge is the demolition.

Nolan doesn't like to use special effects in his films.

If it's going to explode, it has to really explode.

This is his consistent style, and one of the reasons why "The Dark Knight" became a classic.

The demolition team planted hundreds of explosive charges inside the building.

Every fuse and every detonator must be precise to the second.

If it's even half a second off, the effect will be ruined.

The set design team and the explosion team worked through more than a dozen nights in preparation for this scene.

Just aligning the explosion point with the building structure took dozens of checks.

Before filming began, Nolan called Ye Mo aside.

The two stood in front of the building, and Nolan pointed to it.

"Ye, do you know what this scene means?" Nolan said.

"I know," Ye Mo said.

"You don't know," Nolan shook his head, "this scene can only be filmed in one take."

"Those explosives, once they're used up, are gone. If we have to reshoot, we'll have to rebury them all."

"The money burned by this explosion is enough to make half an art film."

"We can't afford to burn through time and money."

"Therefore, your scene has to be filmed in one take."

Ye Mo looked at Nolan and nodded.

"I see."

"Don't worry, I'm ready."

Nolan stared at him for two seconds, then said nothing more.

He patted Ye Mo on the shoulder and turned to go over the procedures with the demolition team one last time.

Ye Mo stood there alone, looking up at the building.

He knew the significance of this performance.

The Joker blowing up the hospital is the craziest scene in the entire movie.

It was also his most outstanding performance as the Joker.

The words "one-time success" weighed heavily on his chest.

But he wasn't flustered.

In his mind, he had already acted out this scene hundreds of times.

On the day of the shoot, Ye Mo changed into that outfit.

She wore a loose pink nurse's uniform, had a messy wig, and a nurse's name tag pinned to her chest.

The name tag had an inconspicuous name on it, and nobody paid any attention to it.

When Ye Mo walked out of the dressing room, the set fell silent for a second.

Then, laughter erupted.

"My God, is that a clown?" A lighting technician laughed so hard he couldn't stand up straight.

"Pink nurse uniform, hahaha."

"The contrast is too great."

Mike leaned closer and looked Ye Mo up and down.

"Ye, if you stand out like that, who would believe you know kung fu?"

A stagehand nearby chimed in.

"Yeah, yesterday they were teaching us how to throw people, and today they're wearing nurse uniforms."

"If this gets back to China, people will laugh themselves to death."

Ye Mo smiled but didn't say anything.

He lifted his skirt and made a comical curtsy.

The movements were both effeminate and strange, causing a burst of laughter on set.

Even the usually serious Oldman couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Bell stood at a distance with his arms crossed, his lips twitching slightly.

Nolan stood by the monitor, watching the lively scene, a smile playing on his lips.

This is exactly the effect he wanted.

A clown dressed as a nurse blended into the evacuation crowd.

How absurd, how ridiculous.

But the more absurd it is, the more unsettling it becomes.

Once filming begins, this absurdity will transform into the deepest fear.

The scene in the hospital ward was filmed very quickly.

Ye Mo, dressed in a nurse's uniform, slipped into the ward and sat down beside Harvey Dent's bed.

The ward was dimly lit, with the curtains half-drawn.

Outside the window, the chaotic city of Gotham stretched out before me.

Ye Mo leaned forward slightly and tilted his head to one side.

He spoke in a low voice, gradually eroding the "Knight of Light's" belief.

"The gangs have a plan, the police have a plan, Gordon has a plan, they're all conspirators."

"Chaos is the only true form of fairness."

Harvey raised his gun and pressed the muzzle against Ye Mo's forehead.

Ye Mo didn't dodge; his eyelids were half-closed, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Shoot," he said calmly.

Those two words, though light and airy, were like knives.

Harvey's hands were shaking.

He tossed a coin.

The coin landed heads up.

He put down his gun.

The Knights of Light have fallen.

The two-faced man is born.

This scene was filmed in one take.

Nolan stared at the monitor without saying a word.

But his nerves, which had been taut all along, relaxed a little.

The highlight is the scene where they walk out of the building.

The stage manager claps the clapperboard.

Ye Mo pushed open the main entrance of the hospital and walked out.

He had his hands in the pockets of his nurse's uniform, looking relaxed and walking with a leisurely gait.

A playful smile played on her lips, and her makeup around her eyes smudged.

He looked down and took out the remote control.

He pressed the buttons as he walked.

"boom!"

Behind them, the hospital floors exploded one after another.

Glass shards and wall debris fell downwards.

The firelight flickered behind him.

Ye Mo didn't turn around and slowly walked forward.

It's like watching a performance that you've choreographed yourself.

Everything is going according to the script.

Then, the accident happened.

The explosion stopped abruptly.

Only half of the building was destroyed; most of the floors remained intact.

Ye Mo's steps suddenly stopped.

He stood frozen in place, slowly turning his head to look at the hospital behind him.

At that moment, his face changed.

His eyes widened suddenly, his eyebrows furrowed, and his lips parted slightly.

His face was full of astonishment, confusion, and a hint of annoyance.

He picked up the remote control and pressed the buttons forcefully and rapidly with his fingers.

Once, twice, three times.

His brows furrowed more and more, his lips turned down, and his face showed signs of irritability.

He looked exactly like an unlucky guy who got screwed over by the props.

Nolan suddenly stood up from behind the monitor.

"Demolition Team!" he shouted. "What's going on?!"

The assistant director panicked and grabbed the walkie-talkie to shout.

"Director, it seems the explosives haven't been fully detonated..."

Nolan's eyes were fixed on the monitor.

He was about to curse when he suddenly stopped.

"etc."

Nolan squinted and looked for two seconds.

"This is Ye Mo acting."

"He's not out of character; the remote control for playing the clown has malfunctioned."

The assistant director was stunned.

"what?"

"That can't be right, wasn't he calling for help?"

"Look for yourself," Nolan said, pointing to the monitor. "Look at his fingers, still pressing the remote control."

"If there had been a real accident, he would have turned around and looked at the demolition team long ago."

The assistant director leaned over and stared at the monitor for two seconds.

"My God, it really is."

"That reaction is so realistic."

Just then, the second explosion occurred.

"Boom!"

An even more violent series of explosions then erupted.

The entire hospital building collapsed completely.

Flames shot into the sky, and waves of heat swept over us.

The firelight reflected off Ye Mo's face.

Instantly, Ye Mo reacted as if he had been startled.

Immediately afterwards, a hint of manic pleasure flashed across his eyes.

He then realized the shockwave was too close.

His expression changed instantly.

He put away the remote control, staggered, and rushed towards the school bus on the side of the road.

He climbed into the car, and the car immediately drove away from the scene.

"Card!"

Nolan shouted it out.

The entire room fell silent for a few seconds.

Then, Nolan was the first to applaud.

"Ye, come here." Nolan beckoned.

Ye Mo got off the school bus, her makeup completely ruined.

He walked up to Nolan, panting.

"Ye, your part was absolutely fantastic! If the demolition team hadn't said there were no problems, I would have really thought there was a problem with the demolition!" Director Nolan said.

"I'm sorry, director. I just thought of it on the spur of the moment. I thought I should add that part here to give the audience a sense of ups and downs, so I didn't tell you beforehand."

"That's nothing. I fucking thought your remote control was really malfunctioning."

"This part must be kept; it's ten times better than the original script."

The assistant director nodded in agreement.

"Director, I also thought there had been an accident; my palms were sweating."

"That on-the-spot reaction was amazing."

Nolan patted Ye Mo on the shoulder.

"Your on-the-spot reaction is something many veteran actors can't achieve in their entire lives."

Ye Mo smiled.

The surrounding actors also gathered around.

Odman gave Ye Mo a thumbs up.

Grandpa Kane patted him on the back and said, "Beautiful."

Bell didn't speak, but gave Ye Mo a deep look.

There was approval in his eyes.

Nolan took out his walkie-talkie and confirmed the situation with the demolition team.

"Tomorrow's scene, the Joker and Two-Face in the hospital room, continues."

"We'll continue this afternoon."
