Shen Wanshan's steady footsteps could be heard from the other end of the corridor.

"Why are you so drunk? What happened at the factory?" Shen Wanshan's voice came from afar.

Su Nianhe was so frightened that her scalp tingled.

Running out now would definitely mean bumping right into Shen Wanshan and his wife.

She could only shrink back under the bed and move her body to the innermost corner of the wall.

There was some dust in the corner, which made her nose itch. She pinched her thigh hard and forced back the sneeze, tears welling up in her eyes.

Footsteps entered the house; this time, it was two people.

Shen Wanshan, wearing slippers, walked to the bedside and looked at his unconscious son.

"Alright, go get a basin of hot water to wash his face, and I'll take off his shoes and put them on," Shen Wanshan instructed.

Liu Huizhen responded and turned to leave.

Shen Wanshan bent down, grabbed the heel of Shen Huai's leather shoe, and pulled it down forcefully.

A leather shoe fell to the floor with a dull thud, right next to Su Nianhe's hand.

Su Nianhe looked at the men's leather shoe, her breathing slowing down.

Shen Wanshan moved his son's legs onto the bed and pulled a thin blanket from the side to cover Shen Huai's stomach.

Shen Wanshan, who spent his life in officialdom, felt stifled in the room. He walked to the window and pushed open half of the glass window with a "whoosh".

The night breeze blew in, dispersing much of the smell of alcohol in the room.

Su Nianhe lay prone in a dark corner.

She remembered that just now in bed, Shen Huai's burning lips were pressed against hers, and the male hormones that smelled of alcohol almost engulfed her completely.

If Liu Huizhen hadn't suddenly knocked on the door, she would have had no idea how things would have developed.

The sound of a basin of water sloshing could be heard coming from the corridor.

Liu Huizhen came in carrying a basin of hot water, placed the enamel basin on the bedside table, wrung out a towel, and began to wipe Shen Huai's face.

"You know, this child is usually so sensible, where did he go today to drink so much sonic?" Liu Huizhen complained as she wiped the room. "What's that strange smell in the room?"

"Young people have a lot of social engagements, what's wrong with doing it once in a while? I've left the window open to air it out." Shen Wanshan didn't seem to care.

The couple busied themselves around the bed for a while.

Shen Huai remained unconscious, only managing a mumbled murmur when the hot towel was applied to his face.

Liu Huizhen didn't hear what he said clearly, taking it as drunken ramblings. After wiping her face and hands, she picked up the basin of water.

"Let's go, let him sleep. We'll make some hangover soup tomorrow morning." Shen Wanshan walked ahead with his hands behind his back.

Liu Huizhen closed the window again, leaving only a crack, and followed behind with the basin, then closed the door behind her.

With a "click," the room returned to silence.

The only sounds were the rustling of the wind blowing in from the window and the steady breathing of the man on the bed.

Su Nianhe lay under the bed for a full five minutes, making sure there was no more noise outside, before finally crawling out, her limbs feeling weak.

She sat on the wooden floor, panting heavily.

When she stood up, her legs went weak and she almost fell back down.

She glanced at Shen Huai, who was sleeping soundly on the bed.

The man's face appeared cold and calm in the moonlight, completely devoid of the dangerous sense of loss of control he had just displayed.

Su Nianhe bit her lower lip, tiptoed to the door, turned the doorknob, and slipped out.

The corridor was quiet.

She huddled close to the wall, slowly making her way down the stairs, and slipped back into her room on the first floor, the maid's room.

The moment the door closed, Su Nianhe leaned against the door panel, her body slowly sliding down until she fell to the ground.

too frightening.

She almost lost her entire life.

Su Nianhe sat against the door of the nanny's room for a long time until her wildly beating heart slowly returned to normal before she weakly climbed onto the bed.

She pulled the thin blanket over her head and tossed and turned on the hard wooden board.

Whenever I close my eyes, all I can see is that dimly lit room on the second floor.

Even in her dream, it was the same. Shen Huai's strength was terrifying. His arms were like iron clamps around her waist, and his kisses made her lips go numb.

When I woke up, it was still dark outside the window, with only the chirping of a few early birds.

Su Nianhe touched her face; it was a little hot.

She quickly sat up, patted her cheeks, and forced herself to banish those chaotic images from her mind.

She can't think about it anymore, or she really won't be able to continue her job.

Shen Ping'an should wake up and eat as soon as it gets light every day, so she has to hurry.

She quietly opened the door and slipped into the kitchen on the first floor.

Su Nianhe rummaged through the cupboard and found two leftover multigrain steamed buns from last night. She ate them with pickled vegetables and stuffed them into her mouth in big mouthfuls.

She ate too quickly and choked, her eyes rolling back in her head. She quickly picked up a ladle and scooped up most of a ladle of cold water from the water vat and poured it down her throat.

Su Nianhe quickly ran to prepare the milk powder.

After feeding, it was fully light.

Aunt Wang yawned as she walked in and took Shen Ping'an from her: "Nianhe, only you can handle this little devil. Alright, you go ahead with your work, I'll watch over things here."

Su Nianhe chuckled twice, then turned and went back to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the Shen family.

Just as the porridge in the pot started to release its oily sheen, Liu Huizhen came downstairs in her mid-heeled leather shoes.

She rubbed her temples, her face pale, and walked to the kitchen doorway, instructing, "Nianhe, slice some ginger and make a strong hangover soup to take to Xiao Huai. He drank too much last night, and he has things to do at the factory today, so don't let him be late."

Liu Huizhen paused, then complained, "I don't know where they drank that filthy soup. The whole house smells weird, and even with the windows open for ages, it still doesn't get clean."

Upon hearing this, Su Nianhe's hand trembled, and she almost cut her finger with the kitchen knife.

She lowered her head and agreed, her palms sweating with guilt.

Her father, Su Dahe, used to get drunk in the village, go on a rampage, beat people and smash things. When he woke up the next day, he didn't remember anything and even asked who had broken his head.

Technician Shen got completely drunk last night and could barely walk, so he probably doesn't remember anything.

Su Nianhe repeatedly comforted herself in her heart.

As long as she denies it, no one will know what happened in bed last night.

The ginger soup was ready and served steaming hot in a white porcelain bowl.

Su Nianhe carried the tray and walked up the wooden stairs to the second floor.

The stairs creaked slightly, and with each creak, her heart tightened.

She stopped outside Shen Huai's door, took several deep breaths, and then raised her hand to knock on the door.
