Chapter 26 The President is a straightforward person
Lin Yu met Vera's gaze, his tone remaining calm:
"President Vera should know what price this quality of healing potion is priced on the market."
"If the guild resells it, even if they only take 30%, the profit will be far higher than the ordinary goods you're currently selling."
He paused, then added, "I can guarantee a stable supply of five hundred bottles per week."
This means that guilds can develop a more stable customer base and even sign long-term contracts with certain caravans and mercenary groups.
The president should understand the potential value of this better than I do.
Vera stopped laughing, feeling like she was being overshadowed for the first time.
She leaned back on the sofa, tapping her fingers lightly on the armrest, her gaze sweeping over Lin Yu's face several times.
Young, calm, organized, with a clear understanding of his own value, and uncompromising in negotiations.
This made her curious about Lin Yu's identity and she concluded that he was a young man worth getting to know better.
"What if...you can't supply the goods, or the quality drops?" she asked one last question.
"The contract can specify the penalty for breach of contract, and the settlement will be made on a batch basis. If a problem occurs in a particular batch, the money will be deducted from that batch."
Lin Yu said, "It's very fair."
Vera remained silent.
She looked at Lin Yu for a while, then leaned back, relaxed, and that lazy smile returned to her face.
"Okay." She uttered a single word, crisp and decisive.
He then got up from the sofa, walked behind his desk, took out paper and pen, and began to write the contract.
The movements were fluid and without any hesitation.
Lin Yu sat there, watching her profile as she bent over her writing.
The fabric of the cheongsam tightened at her waist and hips with her movements, outlining her full curves.
"It seems the president is a straightforward person."
Vera didn't even look up, her pen never stopping.
"Mr. Lin Yu, I enjoy dealing with intelligent people and doing profitable business."
Her voice came from behind the desk, carrying a slight rustling sound of writing:
"I have no reason to refuse, as for you..."
After she finished writing the last line, she picked up the paper, gently blew on the still-wet ink, looked up at me, and raised the corner of her eye slightly.
"You're much more interesting than you seem, Mr. Lin Yu."
She walked over with the contract and handed it to Lin Yu.
"Take a look at the terms. If you have no objections, sign them. Starting next week, every Monday, I will have someone deliver the basic documents to your designated location."
The agreed-upon potion will be provided every Sunday.
Lin Yu took the contract and quickly scanned it.
The terms are clear and exactly the same as what we just discussed, and the percentage of liquidated damages is also clearly stated.
He picked up the pen and signed his name.
Vera then took out the guild's seal from the drawer, dipped it in ink, and firmly stamped it under the contract.
"It's a pleasure to work with you, Mr. Lin Yu." She extended her right hand.
Lin Yu grasped her hand: "It's a pleasure working with you, President Vera."
Vera withdrew her hand and sat back down in the chair behind her desk, tapping her fingertips lightly on the surface.
"The important business is over, and the timing is perfect." She glanced at the sky outside the window:
"How about we grab a bite to eat together? Consider it a celebration of our collaboration. I know a restaurant nearby that's pretty good."
Lin Yu nodded: "Okay."
"Wait a moment." Vera stood up and straightened the wrinkles in her robe. "This isn't very comfortable. I'll go change."
Lin Yu nodded.
Vera pushed open the small door at the back of the office and went inside.
About five minutes later, the door opened.
Vera came out from inside, having changed into a large mage's robe, which covered her completely.
Lin Yu didn't say much. The two of them walked out of the office one after the other and went downstairs.
The hall remained noisy, and many adventurers cast curious glances as they saw President Vera personally accompanying a young, unfamiliar man down the hall.
Vera ignored this and led Lin Yu straight out of the guild gate.
The restaurant was not far away, elegantly decorated, and not many customers.
Vera was clearly a regular, and the waiter led them directly to a quiet booth by the window on the second floor.
The waiter then approached Lin Yu and asked, "What would you like to eat, sir?"
Lin Yu: "I want some ham and eggs, a big piece of good fried beef steak, all the side dishes, and a thick sauce."
Waiter: This must cost a lot of money, sir.
Lin Yu: "I know, and another large glass of ice-cold beer."
"Yes, sir."
......
The dishes were served quickly, and Vera also ordered a bottle of red wine.
The two chatted as they ate, and the conversation became much more relaxed.
Vera chatted about some interesting things that happened in the guild, the recent rumors in Wind Chime Town, and occasionally asked Lin Yu about his past in Xinluo City, but she asked very tactfully and only touched on the subject briefly.
Lin Yu's answers were mostly concise. Regarding his non-existent past, he only vaguely mentioned, "My family fell on hard times, so I came out to try my luck."
Vera simply raised her glass and smiled, without pressing the matter further.
She ate with great elegance, making small movements with her wrist when cutting the steak, taking only a small sip of wine, and keeping her eyelashes lowered.
The indoor light shone on her profile, softening her overly sharp and vibrant beauty, revealing a unique serenity.
About half an hour later, we had almost finished eating.
Lin Yu wiped his mouth with a napkin and thought the taste was pretty good.
The steak was seared to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the mushroom soup was rich and flavorful. However, Lin Yu found the mushrooms in the soup to be quite familiar.
These are the mushrooms Arya picked in the forest. It seems they're all being sold here.
Without much thought, Lin Yu looked at Vera and said, "The food here tastes very good."
"I'm glad you like it." Vera was taking small bites of her salad with a silver fork when she heard this and looked up.
"Could you please order another one of the same thing to take away?" Lin Yu asked casually.
Vera's fork stopped mid-air. She looked at Lin Yu, her gaze lingering on his face for two seconds before a slowly interesting smile appeared on her lips.
"For your family?" She put down her fork and wiped her mouth with a napkin.
"Um."
Vera didn't ask any more questions. She simply beckoned to the waiter and ordered, "Make another set meal like the one we just had, and pack it in a food box."
"Yes, Miss Vera." The waiter bowed and withdrew.
While waiting, Vera picked up her wine glass, her gaze falling on Lin Yu with undisguised scrutiny and curiosity.
"I didn't expect Mr. Lin Yu to be so family-oriented." She took a sip of her drink, her tone casual, but her words held a hint of probing.
Lin Yu didn't respond to that, but simply said, "It tastes good, so I'd like to let others try it too."
Vera smiled and didn't press the matter further.
But clearly, Lin Yu's somewhat abrupt action, in her view, gave him a different kind of charm.
Soon, the waiter returned carrying a dark brown wooden food box.
The food box is finely crafted, with a smooth surface, brass-wrapped edges, and subtle magical patterns faintly visible on the lid.
"It's imbued with a constant-temperature magic, so it can keep you warm for about twelve hours," Vera casually explained.
Lin Yu took the food box.
It feels slightly heavy in the hand, and the box has a warm, smooth texture. It's not hot, but you can feel the heat of the food inside being perfectly locked in.
He opened the box and glanced inside. Fresh steak, soup, bread, and side dishes were neatly arranged, and the aroma of steam wafted out.
"Thank you." Lin Yu closed the food box and placed it beside him.
Vera watched his meticulous examination, her eyes flickering.
She didn't say anything more, but simply beckoned to Lilia, who had been quietly waiting at the entrance to the booth.
