[Jiang Ling]: I really love this new feature after the team upgrade. Everyone can create their own rooms to discuss the live stream, and they can even switch between four screens simultaneously. It's super convenient.

[Su Su]: Yes, I like it too. It's so much better to watch it with my teammates. Otherwise, all sorts of players and viewers will show up – the mean ones, the stupid ones, the low-class ones, the ones showing off their superiority… I get annoyed just watching them.

[Wang Mingyue]: From now on, we'll just watch from the team interface and not bother with those trashy people.

[Jiang Ling]: By the way, is it just the three of us here? Oh, of course, my brother will be online soon; he's going to buy me fried chicken.

[Su Su]: Siqi went to catch up on sleep. He was planning to watch the live stream tonight, but he's worried he'll get sleepy.

[Jiang Ling]: Are any of you brothers here? Why aren't you saying anything? Wild King, Third Boss, God of Wealth, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, please reply.

[Wang Mingyue]: Maybe they didn't go to the team interface and went directly to the captain's live stream?

[Lingye]: 1

[Wang Mingyue]: ...Oh, okay, I see. Wild King is here.

[Shen Yubai]: I'm here too. I just picked up a perfumery order from Luo Xiangjun.

[Du Songzi]: I'm here. I was indeed in the captain's live stream just now. Caishen was there too; he was frantically recharging and spamming the chat.

[Shen Yubai]: Sigh, Shao Yu is truly too professional when it comes to promoting and supporting the captain.

[Jiang Ling]: Look, look! The captain and the other three have reunited and are going to embroider their wedding dresses together!

[Su Su]: Not to brag, but our second-in-command is truly gifted in needlework.

……

Given that they encountered a stage that tested their skills, and sewing and embroidery happened to be exactly what Miss Tang was lacking in.

Therefore, the task of embroidering peonies according to the pattern fell on Yan Zhao's shoulders. At this moment, she was holding needle and thread, meticulously sewing a wedding dress using the skills she learned from her grandmother to sew funeral clothes.

It sounds strange, but it achieves the same thing in a different way.

Of course, Tang Yunxi wasn't idle either, since there were still four phoenix crowns that needed beads to be strung on, and she was capable of doing that.

"Zhao Zhao, you're amazing!" she praised enthusiastically as she picked out beads. "I'm going to crown you the number one embroiderer and curse master in the game of misfortune."

"Thank you." Yan Zhao didn't even look up, slightly speechless. "That sounds impressive, like if anyone messes with me, I'll sew their mouth shut with thread."

"I wonder if things are going well for Lanlan and Xiaoying." Tang Yunxi picked up a phoenix crown, held it up to her head, and then sighed. "They're unfamiliar with the town and don't have any money. Will they be able to buy everything they need?"

"You're underestimating Lanlan's professional level."

"...Huh? Oh, right, I almost forgot!"

While they were talking, Yan Zhao had already finished embroidering the peony pattern on the first wedding dress. She laid the dress out on the embroidery table and smoothed it out. Just as she was about to fold it up, her gaze fell on the collar and she suddenly stopped.

She paused for two seconds, then flipped open the inside of her collar at the back of her neck and leaned in to examine it closely.

Tang Yunxi had just finished putting on the first crown when she turned her head and noticed that Yan Zhao looked strange. She quickly asked him what was wrong.

"What's wrong, Zhao Zhao?"

"Come and see."

Yan Zhao pointed to the collar of her dress, where some words were embroidered in dark red thread. The color was almost blending into the wedding dress, making it difficult to notice at first glance.

Hai (亥) and Ji (己), You (酉) and Xin (辛), Shen (申) and Wu (戊), Wei (未) and Ding (丁).

She then checked the other three wedding dresses, and sure enough, there were similar inscriptions in the same locations:

Shen Wu, Wei Ding, Wu Bing, Si Yi.

The ten Heavenly Stems are: You (酉) Xin, Shen (申) Wu, Wei (未) Ding, and Wu (午) Bing.

戌壬,酉辛,申戊,未丁。

Tang Yunxi realized there was a problem, but she didn't know what it was, so she humbly asked for advice.

"What is this?"

"This is a reversed birth date and time, embroidered with red thread dyed with cinnabar, and all the stitches are broken—if I remember correctly, my grandmother mentioned it before, it belongs to a kind of ancient curse."

"……curse?"

Tang Yunxi was startled and was about to ask a few more questions when she suddenly heard the door behind her being pushed open, and then Yi Zanglan and Wu Ying walked in.

The four finally met. Yan Zhao looked up at Yi Zanglan, his expression noticeably more relaxed.

"How's it going?"

"It's alright, I've bought everything."

"If it's just for buying things, it shouldn't take that long."

Yi Zanglan smiled: "Indeed, I also went to kill someone while I was at it."

Yan Zhao immediately understood: "You two killed Granny Jiang?"

"Um."

"Granny Jiang admitted that the Zhu family had a conspiracy in hiring the four of us to bring them good luck," Wu Ying said. "She was convinced that we wouldn't make it out alive, which is why she dared to keep all the payment."

Yan Zhao nodded knowingly and gestured for them to come to the embroidery table: "That makes sense now. You see, I just discovered what dirty tricks the Zhu family is up to."

Yi Zanglan examined the inscriptions on the four wedding gowns, lost in thought: "Are these the birth dates and times of the four young masters of the Zhu family?"

"Yes, this is called reverse writing of the Eight Characters. Normal auspicious embroidery does not do this, and it is even more impossible to embroider the groom's Eight Characters on the bride's wedding dress."

"Is it a form of witchcraft?"

"Sort of. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but making us wear wedding dresses is definitely part of it." Yan Zhao sneered. "It seems that the wedding the day after tomorrow to bring good luck is just a pretense; the real purpose is to get us to save the young master of the Zhu family's life."

Wu Ying frowned and looked at Yi Zanglan: "Then we have no choice but to go out tonight."

"Going out tonight?" Tang Yun asked curiously. "Did you find out something from Granny Jiang?"

"That's right. According to Granny Jiang, there's a crippled man named Li living in that abandoned temple in the east of town. He knows some feng shui secrets, and it was he who suggested this method of bringing good luck to Master Zhu."

"I understand! Finding him might reveal some inside information, or we could ask if there's any way to break this."

"Hopefully those immortals will grant us permission to go out at night," Yan Zhao sighed, pointing to the unfinished wedding dress and phoenix crown on the table. "But before that, we still need to finish our work."

Tang Yunxi eagerly offered, "I'll leave the embroidery to you. Don't worry, I'll string all the beads for the remaining three phoenix crowns!"

"OK."

Yi Zanglan and Wu Ying sat down at the table and, without saying a word, picked up needles and thread and began to sew. Although both of them were military officers, they were both quick learners, and even though their embroidery was crooked, it was still possible to make out that they were embroidering a flower.

Yan Zhao threaded the needle with nimble and skillful movements. She would occasionally glance at her teammates' progress and couldn't help but click her tongue several times, as if she were wearing a mask of pain.

"Hopefully when they come to inspect the goods later, their requirements won't be too strict."

"What's there to complain about with that old bastard?" Wu Ying retorted coldly. "He wants to use our lives to save his son's. We have to embroider our own wedding dresses. If we were embroidering his funeral clothes, I might be a little more serious about it."
