The top floor of Dingxin Building in the east of the city.

Li Chengsen stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a cup of tea, overlooking the entire city of Bin.

The man was in his early thirties, and he looked refined and gentle, more like a scholar than a businessman.

The door opened, and a young man walked in: "Brother, Zhou Huaijin is here."

Li Chengsen turned around, put down his teacup, and straightened his tie: "Let's go."

The reception room is downstairs, where a tea master is brewing tea. The tea soup is golden and clear, with a fragrant aroma.

Zhou Huaijin sat in the main seat, a freshly brewed cup of tea in front of him. Lin Rui sat to one side.

"Old classmate, long time no see." Li Chengsen pushed open the door and came in with a big smile, extending his hand.

Zhou Huaijin stood up and shook hands with him: "President Li, how have you been?"

"Don't call me Mr. Li, you're too formal." Li Chengsen sat down opposite him, patted the seat next to him, and said, "Ah Hao, come and sit down."

Li Chenghao walked over and bowed slightly: "Secretary Zhou, I've heard so much about you."

Zhou Huaijin nodded, his gaze lingering on him for a moment before looking away.

A waiter knocked on the door and began serving the food.

"Ah Hao went to Nanjing a few days ago and caught a lot of pheasants and wild vegetables in the mountains. They taste really good." Li Chengsen pointed to the table, "I brought them back especially for you to try."

Zhou Huaijin glanced at it and smiled, "You really know how to enjoy life."

"That's all thanks to Secretary Zhou's effective leadership; it's thanks to him that we small business owners have food to eat," Li Chengsen said, picking up his teacup.

"Don't flatter me," Zhou Huaijin also picked up his teacup, took a sip, "Dingxin Group is the number one taxpayer in Bin City. Your success is what makes Bin City's economy vibrant."

Li Chengsen laughed, "Compared to Yu Ji in Beijing, ours is just small-time stuff. But—"

He changed the subject, seemingly casually mentioning, "Ah Hao did see something interesting during his trip to Nanjing. I heard some clueless thugs actually offended your sister-in-law? They deserve to die."

Zhou Huaijin paused for a moment while holding the teacup, then resumed his normal posture without any change in his expression.

"What sister-in-law? You know I've been all alone all these years," he said self-deprecatingly.

"Oh?" Li Chengsen raised an eyebrow. "That must be nonsense from the villagers."

Zhou Huaijin said unhurriedly, "It was just a female employee under my command who encountered this matter while conducting research in the countryside. She just happened to check on Nan Jing."

Li Chengsen nodded in agreement: "It should be thoroughly investigated. They even dared to touch Secretary Zhou's people; they're really outrageous."

Zhou Huaijin leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers lightly on the armrest twice: "Sigh, if everyone were as law-abiding as President Li, we wouldn't have to worry about so much."

"No matter how much a leader cares about the people, he still has to take care of himself."

Li Chengsen put down his teacup and sighed.

"Old classmate, you know, my child is already in kindergarten, and you're still single. Serving the people is your duty, but you also need to think about your personal life. Having a child makes all the difference."

He took out a painting from behind him, unfolded it, and it was a hand-drawn doodle. It depicted a family of three: the father and mother holding hands with a child, who was holding a test paper with a score of 100.

"Look, this is a drawing by my daughter."

Zhou Huaijin looked at the painting, his gaze lingering for a moment on the number "100".

"Very talented," he said, his tone devoid of any emotion.

"Why don't I give it to you? I hope Secretary Zhou will accept it." Li Chengsen handed over the painting, his smile deepening. "This perfect score is my daughter's heartfelt gift."

Zhou Huaijin did not answer.

"Such a meaningful painting should stay in your own home," Zhou Huaijin said with a slight smile, standing up. "I won't take what belongs to someone else."

-

On the way back, Lin Rui hesitated for a moment before tentatively speaking:

"Boss, is Li Chengsen planning to offer 100 billion?"

Zhou Huaijin leaned back in his chair, his eyes half-closed, and snorted coldly, "He's certainly willing to give it up."

The entire city of Bin has probably become his money bag.

The top floor of Dingxin Building.

Lee Seung-ho's tone was tinged with disbelief: "I've never seen an official who isn't tempted by this number."

Standing in front of the French windows, Li Chengsen picked up the teacup again: "Zhou Huaijin isn't some country bumpkin with no background or experience. His father is in the army, and his mother's family business spans half of Beijing."

Li Chenghao put his legs down and frowned: "What about Nan Jing's matter? With what he did, we've lost everything, inside and out."

"Those involved in the Platinum Palace incident are all crippled. Zhou Huaijin was ruthless and vicious."

"It's just Nan Jing," Li Chengsen turned around, glanced at his younger brother, and said, "Think long-term."

He placed the teacup on the table, his voice deepening: "It's also the fault of those few blind fools who set their sights on the wrong people."

He gazed out the window and remained silent for a long time.

"However," he chuckled, a hint of amusement in his voice, "Zhou Huaijin actually has a woman?"

"If he likes women, this will be easy to handle."

He turned around and looked at Lee Seung-ho.

"Ah Hao, go and find out what kind of woman she is. Make arrangements."

-

Sure enough, it's fun when the boss isn't around; Zhou Huaijin didn't come back even after get off work.

No one assigned her any tasks, no one watched her take her medicine, and no one urged her to revise her report.

Ye Zhenzhen spent the whole day slacking off.

I was so happy I felt like I could fly.

She even felt that if she could do this every day, she could stay in this position until retirement.

She happily went home after get off work, bought a lot of ingredients at the market, and prepared to make a big splash at home.

However, upon opening the door, I was surprised to see a pair of men's boots next to the shoe cabinet.

Hearing the door open, Meng Chen hurriedly came out to greet him.

"Baby, you're back?"

"What are you doing here?" Ye Zhenzhen asked him.

Meng Chen knew the door lock code, so it made sense that he could get in. But why did he come in without saying a word?

"Baby, I sent you WeChat messages but you didn't reply." Meng Chen carefully took her hand. "I had nothing to do at home, so I thought I'd come see you—"

"I'm at work, why didn't you say anything?" Ye Zhenzhen frowned, her tone tinged with annoyance.

"I came because I missed you." Meng Chen's tone was somewhat ingratiating. "Baby, you're at work during the day, so I can clean and cook for you at home. You won't be so tired when you get back. We'll go out and have fun together on the weekend."

He spoke as if nothing had ever happened between them.

"Meng Chen," she took a deep breath and said softly, "let's break up."

Meng Chen's smile froze on his face.

"I'm sorry, baby, I know I was wrong, please forgive me?" His expression began to panic, his tone anxious. "We won't break up... You said we'd be together forever, you also said we'd get married after I graduated, you said we'd have another child before I turned 30..."

Ye Zhenzhen's nose tingled with emotion.

"There's no going back, Meng Chen."

"We can go back!" Meng Chen's voice rose, filled with an almost uncontrollable urgency. "I will try my best, I will—"

"Meng Chen, I've fallen for someone else," Ye Zhenzhen interrupted him.

Meng Chen's face turned pale instantly.

"That's impossible," he shook his head, "We just met each other's parents and discussed marriage, how could you—"

Suddenly, as if he had just realized something, his gaze sharpened, and his voice carried a hint of hatred: "I know, it's your colleague? The one who's really tall—"

"no."

"Ye Zhenzhen, you've only been at the district committee for a short time, and you're already thinking about climbing the social ladder? You've learned to be a gold digger, haven't you?" Meng Chen's expression instantly changed. "A government position in the new district is quite desirable, but now you look down on me, huh?"

"Meng Chen, you—"

Ye Zhenzhen never expected him to say such a thing.

A sudden chill swept over my entire body, followed by a deep sense of disappointment.

"Me, materialistic?" Ye Zhenzhen couldn't hold back any longer and questioned him loudly with red eyes. "We've been together for five years, and the most expensive gift you've given me is a backpack that costs 298 yuan. I know your family isn't well-off, so when we go out to eat, I always split the bill with you. When you're pursuing your doctorate, I work while giving you living expenses."

Meng Chen was speechless, he opened his mouth but couldn't say anything.

"You..." His voice trailed off, carrying a weakened sense of defeat, "So you're in such a hurry to break up with me..."

Ye Zhenzhen took a deep breath and suppressed her surging emotions.

"Meng Chen, I went back to my hometown a while ago and got into trouble with a group of thugs."

"If he hadn't arrived in time to save me, I probably would have been violated by those men. Later... I..."

Ye Zhenzhen hesitated for a few seconds, then added,

"I slept with him..."

Meng Chen's eyes widened instantly, and he was incredulous.

"Did he force you?!"

Ye Zhenzhen shook her head: "It was my own choice."
