The pushover offended a top-tier boss

Chapter 66: Maybe I'm too full.

It wasn't until another vomiting sound came from the bathroom that Zhou Huaijin realized something was wrong.

He strode into the bathroom and saw Ye Zhenzhen squatting on the floor, hugging the toilet, her hair hanging down to cover half her face, vomiting violently.

"What did you eat?" He squatted down, one hand on her shoulder, the other tucking the hair that was hanging over her face behind her ear. Her forehead was cold, with a fine layer of sweat on it.

Ye Zhenzhen finally caught her breath, raised her head, her face as white as paper: "I ate... ugh... too much..."

After she finished speaking, she leaned back down and gagged a few times.

"Let's go to the hospital." He helped her to her feet.

Ye Zhenzhen shook her head desperately: "I won't go to the hospital... I won't go."

She has a phobia of hospitals.

"I might... just have eaten too much..." she whispered in defense.

Zhou Huaijin's face instantly darkened.

"Ye Zhenzhen, how old are you? How can you still eat until you're stuffed?"

"There's just too much delicious food..." Ye Zhenzhen's voice trailed off as she lowered her head guiltily.

After vomiting, she rinsed her mouth and felt a little better. The churning in her stomach subsided, and the nausea slowly receded. Thinking she was alright, she sat down on the sofa, took a sip of water, and let out a long breath.

But she hadn't been sitting down long when that nauseous feeling returned, even stronger than before. She covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom, where she vomited violently once more.

I vomited until my stomach was empty, then dry heaved a few times and tears welled up in my eyes.

Then the next round began—stomach upset.

When she came out of the bathroom, her legs were weak. She moved step by step, supporting herself against the wall, looking like a wilted eggplant.

"Boss, I think it might just be gastroenteritis... I'll just order some medicine from a takeout place." Her voice was weak, but she still didn't want to go to the hospital.

"No." Zhou Huaijin's tone left no room for negotiation.

He picked up his phone and dialed Chen Yu's number directly: "Do you have a private doctor here?"

"Is yours also vomiting and having diarrhea?"

Chen Yu was stunned for a moment, somewhat speechless.

"Okay, I just started the IV here, I'll be right there."

Zhou Huaijin hummed in agreement and hung up.

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. A middle-aged man in a white coat stood at the door, carrying a first-aid kit.

"Hello, I am Mr. Chen's private doctor." He gave a slight bow.

Ye Zhenzhen leaned against the headboard, her face pale, her hair disheveled and draped over her shoulders, looking pitiful as she huddled under the covers.

Seeing the medical kit in the doctor's hand, I instinctively shrank back.

"Madam, we need to give you a blood test. Please extend your arm." The doctor took out a sterile swab and a lancet from the medical kit.

Ye Zhenzhen's two greatest fears in this life are: needle pricks and bitter medicine.

She could hold her nose and force down bitter medicine, but getting an injection was truly life-threatening. Every time she got a shot as a child, it was like a "mother-daughter chase" in the hospital, more brutal than slaughtering a pig for the New Year.

"No need, doctor. I just have gastroenteritis. You can just prescribe some medicine for me." She tucked her hands under the covers and refused to come them out.

The doctor patiently explained, "You and the lady traveling with you have the same symptoms, and the preliminary diagnosis is acute gastroenteritis caused by food poisoning."

"Then you don't need to check for me. Since the symptoms are the same, just give me the same medicine as her—" Ye Zhenzhen was still making a last-ditch effort.

"No, we need a blood test to determine the cause." The doctor remained unmoved.

She added, "Furthermore, we need to rule out whether you are pregnant before we can administer the medication."

What pregnancy? She clearly just had an upset stomach...

Ye Zhenzhen wanted to say something more, but Zhou Huaijin walked over, grabbed her arm, revealing her fair armpit, and gestured to the doctor:

"Stab it."

Ye Zhenzhen's eyes widened.

Is this something a human being would do?!

What a waste of my trust!

The moment the needle pierced her flesh, she hissed and instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but his large hand held her arm firmly in place.

She bit her lip, frowned, and had a look of resignation to her fate.

Zhou Huaijin glanced at her, his face still dark.

Hmph, serves you right.

The doctor returned with the test results in less than ten minutes.

"Madam, the results show that you do indeed have acute gastroenteritis caused by food poisoning."

Ye Zhenzhen rolled her eyes inwardly; she knew it, she had taken the injection for nothing.

"I'll put you on an IV drip; it'll take about two hours to finish."

Ye Zhenzhen looked at the bag of clear liquid and the thin tube, her face scrunching up: "Huh? I need an IV drip? Can't I just take medicine?"

"Food poisoning requires intravenous fluids to replenish fluids and detoxify; oral medication alone is not enough," the doctor replied.

"Listen to the doctor." Zhou Huaijin stood beside her, and with those four words, Ye Zhenzhen knew there was no room for negotiation.

"Hand out."

She pouted and reluctantly extended her hand.

The alcohol swab was applied to the back of her hand; its coolness made her flinch. She saw the doctor take out a needle—that gleaming, slender silver needle…

Suddenly, a large hand covered her eyes.

It shrouded the entire world. Her eyelashes trembled in his palm.

Ye Zhenzhen suddenly felt calm.

When the needle went in, she only felt a slight sting, and then it was gone.

"All done," the doctor's voice rang out. The hand was removed from her eyes, and her vision was restored.

A piece of medical tape was stuck to the back of his hand, the needle was buried under the skin, and a transparent tube was connected to an IV drip on his head, with medicine dripping down drop by drop.

Ye Zhenzhen huddled at the head of the bed, looking like a sick chicken. Her face was pale, her lips were bloodless, and she was curled up in the blankets, with only her little face showing. She looked pitiful.

Zhou Huaijin looked up at the IV drip and adjusted the flow rate to make the medicine drip more slowly.

He got up again, poured a cup of hot water, and handed it to her: "Have some water."

Ye Zhenzhen obediently took the cup and drank it in small sips.

"Don't run around on your own anymore, and don't eat things you can't eat," he scolded her coldly.

Ye Zhenzhen nodded obediently, as if she had remembered something:

"I think it might be because we ate undercooked green beans."

"It tasted a little raw when I ate it..."

Zhou Huaijin took a deep breath: "You thought you'd still eat after giving birth? Are you two brainless?"

"Because the ingredients were so delicious..." Ye Zhenzhen lowered her head guiltily.

Zhou Huaijin was both annoyed and amused, feeling speechless with frustration at being driven to the brink of madness by the bratty kid.

Seeing her huddled pitifully in the blankets, I'd definitely start crying again if I scolded her a few more times.

He swallowed back the harsh words he was about to say, suppressing his anger and deciding to teach her a lesson later.

It was already midnight when the IV drip finished. Ye Zhenzhen's stomach felt much better, but she was still a little weak, as if something had drained most of her strength.

She shrank into the blankets, buried her face in the pillow, and fell asleep almost instantly.

When Ye Zhenzhen woke up the next day, she found herself still clinging to Zhou Huaijin like a koala.

He was very hot, and she drowsily snuggled against him, looking for a more comfortable position.

That restless hand, still half-asleep, slid from his chest to his abdomen, wreaking havoc through the thin fabric.

"Her abs are quite nice to touch," she mumbled indistinctly with her eyes closed.

My hand instinctively continued downwards.

She got burned...

Realizing something, she opened her eyes and met his dark, deep-set eyes.

When did he wake up?

Having done so much harm to him for so long, it's like adding fuel to the fire.

"Hey, boss, you're awake..."

The man didn't respond, but instead lunged at her.
