Pei Shuli looked down at him, her eyes filled with suspicion and distrust. "What terrible idea do you have now?"

"Look, the reason you're having such bad luck is because you've been stalking him. Since this path isn't working, why don't you try another one?" Shen Jicheng lowered his voice, coaxing him gently.

"Why don't you just add him on social media, chat online first, build rapport, and then arrange to meet in person when the time is right? Isn't that much better than waiting around in a corner?"

Pei Shuli's eyes lit up for a moment, but then dimmed again. "But how do I add his contact information?"

Shen Jicheng opened his mouth, almost blurting out "I have," but he swallowed the words back down.

His current identity is Shi Jiaming, an orphan from a poor, remote area. Where would he get the contact information for the eldest son of the Shen family? He cleared his throat and changed his approach.

"Why don't you ask around? At his company? At home? Or next time you see him, just go up to him and ask! He rejected you once, he can't reject you a second time, can he?"

Seeing that Pei Shuli did not immediately refuse, Shen Jicheng pressed on, "How about this, I have a peace talisman here, you can borrow it for a day. It's for protection, it'll definitely work."

He pulled a small red lucky bag from his pocket, about the size of a thumb. The fabric was worn and the edges were slightly frayed.

This was something he had carried with him since childhood; each of his brothers had one, and their parents were said to have specially obtained them. He disliked wearing it around his neck and had long ago taken it off and put it in his pocket.

Pei Shuli took it suspiciously, examining it from both sides. "Does this really work?"

"Whether it works or not, you'll know once you try it." Shen Jicheng looked at him with a smile, a glint in his peach blossom eyes. "If it doesn't work, then come and settle the score with me." Hmph, once my older brother sees this thing, he'll know it's him. How could he not give Pei Shuli his contact information?

Pei Shuli stared at the amulet for a long time before finally putting it in his pocket.

"Okay, let's try one more time. If it's unlucky again, I'm giving up!"

Shen Jicheng nodded vigorously, his smile bright, "Don't worry, this time it'll definitely work!"

Pei Shuli had injured his leg and was in a wheelchair, so he sent a reliable subordinate to accompany him.

Whether it was because he had brought a lucky charm or because he was no longer alone today, his journey was exceptionally smooth, without encountering any unexpected events. He arrived safely at the foot of the Tiansheng Group building, looked up at the towering office building, and took a deep breath.

His subordinate, cowering behind him, glanced around furtively and whispered, "Third Young Master... let's hurry back. This is Shen family territory!"

Pei Shuli was struggling to come up with an excuse to sneak in when this nagging immediately ignited his temper. "Hurry, hurry, what's the rush!"

He turned and glared at the man. "So what if it's the Shen family's territory? I refuse to believe he'd dare lay a hand on me in front of everyone!"

After saying that, he waved his hand dismissively.

"Go away, go away, we don't need you here anymore. You're such a coward, nothing like me!"

His subordinates slunk away. Pei Shuli sat alone in his wheelchair, lingering at the entrance of Tiansheng Group for a while before finally taking a deep breath and turning his wheelchair to go inside.

However, before they could take more than a few steps, they were stopped by the security guards on duty at the entrance.

"Please show me your work ID." The security guard stood in front of him expressionlessly.

Pei Shuli immediately put on a polite smile, speaking in a gentle tone, "I'm so sorry, I left my documents at the company. Could you please let me in first? I'll get them and show them to you when I come out."

The other person didn't budge, shaking their head without changing their expression. "No."

Pei Shuli tried to persuade the other party with kind words, almost wearing his lips out, but the other party remained unmoved.

Finally, Pei Shuli's temper flared up completely. He slammed his hand on the armrest of his wheelchair and yelled, "Damn it! What the hell are you pretending for?! How much do you get paid a month to be so dutiful? Can't you just turn a blind eye? Did the Shen family save your life?!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the other person, still expressionless, picked up the walkie-talkie and said into it, "Someone's causing trouble."

Less than half a minute later, several security guards wielding batons rushed out of the lobby.

Pei Shuli: "..."

He understood the principle that a wise man doesn't suffer a loss in front of him.

He immediately slid his wheelchair around and tried to run outside, but the wheelchair was not as flexible as two legs. Coupled with his panic and operational errors, he finally fell hard and landed face down on the ground.

Pei Shuli lay on the ground, wincing in pain. He was about to get up and run away when he caught a glimpse of the amulet on the ground, which had probably slipped out of his pocket when he fell.

He cursed under his breath, "What a useless amulet! It doesn't work at all!"

He had just reached out to pick it up when a pair of slender, fair fingers reached out first and gently picked up the amulet.

Pei Shuli paused, then looked up to meet a clean, pure face. The young man before him wore a white knitted sweater, his chestnut-brown curly hair making his skin appear even whiter, and a faint smile played on his lips. He handed the amulet to Pei Shuli, his voice gentle.

"Did you lose this? It's beautiful."

Pei Shuli took it, but a sense of unease began to creep into his heart. He recognized the person in front of him; it was the voice he had heard under the bed that night at the hotel—Shen Mingxiao's younger brother, Shen Jicheng.

He remembered this person, remembered the ambiguous sounds that came through the bed. Now, seeing this clean face again, he felt uncomfortable all over, unable to tell if it was embarrassment or something else.

"I've noticed you've been lingering here for quite a while," the other person said casually, seemingly unconcerned by his unusual mood. "Is there something you need?"

Pei Shuli's mind raced for a moment, and finally, with a "nothing to lose" attitude, he said bluntly, "I'm looking for the eldest young master of the Shen family, Shen Mingxiao."

He secretly wanted to see how this person would react, whether he was overthinking what happened that night, or whether this person really had ill intentions towards his older brother.

Shen Yu'an paused slightly, her smile deepening.

"Looking for my older brother? But he's very busy right now and might not have time to see you." He tilted his head. "Why don't you tell me what's on your mind? I can pass it on to him when he's done."

Pei Shuli pondered for a moment.

Tell him? What does he want to tell him? He can't exactly say I want to pursue your older brother, can he? Putting aside whether the person in front of him would mind, if such words reached Shen Mingxiao's ears, he estimated that he would break his other leg as well.

He considered it for a moment, then finally shook his head.

"It's nothing major... I just wanted to get your brother's contact information."

Shen Yu'an showed no unusual expression, simply smiling, "Of course."

He held out his hand, and Pei Shuli handed him the phone with some skepticism.

I was stunned for several seconds before taking it. I looked down at the string of numbers on the screen and didn't know what to say for a moment.

He had expected to have to explain himself and was even prepared to be rejected, but to his surprise, the other party gave it to him without even asking a question.

Shen Yu'an put away her phone, smiled at him, and said, "I'll be going now. I'll let my brother know." Then she turned and left.

Pei Shuli watched his figure disappear into the distance, then glanced down at the number on his phone again, and couldn't help but mutter something under his breath.

"This young master of the Shen family... is quite kind."
