Just as Cui Ying's car reached the entrance of the residential area, a black Audi turned in from the entrance and blocked her car.

"Beep beep..."

Cui Ying honked the horn twice and muttered under her breath, "Who is this person? Can't they even drive? Annoying..."

At that moment, the Audi's window rolled down, revealing a face that Chen Ping found so familiar it made him want to vomit.

This person is Xiao Lei.

He was wearing a dark gray suit today, his hair was still neatly combed, and he had that signature, smug smile on his lips.

He glanced at Chen Ping, then at the white Porsche, his gaze lingering on Cui Ying for a moment before he smiled.

"Hey, Dr. Chen, what brings you here?"

Xiao Lei got out of the car, straightened his suit collar, walked up to Chen Ping, looked him up and down, his gaze lingering on the gauze on Chen Ping's head. "What's wrong? Su Meng dumped you and found a younger girl? Where did you find her? At a karaoke bar?"

Chen Ping looked at him without saying a word.

Cui Ying frowned and was about to open the car door to get out when Chen Ping stopped her.

Seeing that he didn't speak, Xiao Lei became even more enthusiastic.

He glanced at the building entrance, then turned back, leaned closer, and lowered his voice, but deliberately spoke each word clearly: "Chen Ping, I advise you not to come here again."

"You and Su Meng are divorced now, this isn't your home anymore. Before long, it will be mine. Once Su Meng and I get married, I'll move in, and then..."

He paused, then the smile widened. "I'll stay in the bed you used to sleep in and keep Su Meng company while she sleeps. You know what I mean..."

After he finished speaking, he leaned against the Audi door, lit a cigarette, squinted at Chen Ping, and waited to see him get angry.

Chen Ping looked at him for two seconds, then smiled.

It wasn't a sneer, nor a bitter laugh; it was a genuine, heartfelt laugh.

That smile made Xiao Lei pause for a moment, the cigarette between his fingers, he forgot to smoke it.

"Xiao Lei," Chen Ping spoke, his voice full of disdain, "Do you even know what you're best at in this life?"

Xiao Lei frowned: "What?"

"Wash the pots and pans," Chen Ping said, then looked at Cui Ying and said, "Let's go."

Cui Ying started the engine and drove off with a throttle.

Xiao Lei stood there, his expression shifting from smugness to bewilderment, and then from bewilderment to anger.

He realized that Chen Ping had said he was someone who took over the leftovers, someone who ate leftovers.

He threw his cigarette on the ground and cursed at the white Porsche, his voice so loud that the whole neighborhood could hear it.

But the Porsche had already driven off, its taillights flashing twice before turning into the street.

Xiao Lei stood downstairs, clenching his fists, his knuckles cracking.

He took a few deep breaths, loosened his tie, got into the car, and drove it downstairs.

He entered the building, took the elevator to the seventh floor, and rang the doorbell.

The door opened, and Su Meng stood in the doorway, her eyes still red and her face expressionless.

She glanced at Xiao Lei, but didn't let him in; she just stood at the door.

"Why are you here?"

"I've come to pick you up for dinner."

Xiao Lei forced a smile, trying to make his voice sound normal, "What do you want to eat for lunch? I booked the same place we went to last time..."

"I'm not going," Su Meng interrupted him. "I'm not going anywhere today."

Xiao Lei's smile faltered, but he held it in and softened his voice: "Su Meng, you don't look well. Didn't you sleep well? I'll take you back after dinner so you won't miss your rest."

Su Meng looked at him for two seconds.

There was no anger, no disgust, not even any emotion in his eyes, as if he were looking at a stranger or something insignificant.

She opened her mouth, her voice not loud, but every word was as hard as ice.

"Xiao Lei, how many times have I told you not to come to my house, not to come looking for me. There's nothing between us, and nothing can ever happen between us. Do you understand?"

Xiao Lei's face turned pale.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but Su Meng had already closed the door.

It was a loud bang, not a big one, but it made his ears ring.

He stood at the door, staring at the dark brown security door and the faded "囍" character on the doorknob.

That character wasn't his and Su Meng's; it belonged to Su Meng and Chen Ping.

He reached out to tear the word off, but his fingers touched the edge of the paper and he pulled back.

He turned and walked away quickly, his leather shoes clicking on the corridor floor tiles.

After going downstairs and getting into the car, he slammed the car door shut.

He took out his phone, found a number, and dialed it.

It rang three times, then I answered.

"Biaozi, it's me."

The voice on the other end of the phone chuckled, "Young Master Xiao, what are your orders?"

Xiao Lei's voice was as cold as the winter wind: "Find me a few men and cripple Chen Ping. Be quick and efficient, don't kill anyone, but I want him to never be a man again."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then Biaozi's voice became serious: "Young Master Xiao, that Chen Ping is no ordinary person. Last time I asked Liu Mazi to deal with him, but Liu Mazi betrayed me. Later, Ma Hu brought a group of people to ambush him, and he beat more than a dozen of them by himself. This guy is not easy to deal with."

It seems this guy Biaozi knows Chen Ping quite well; he's heard about all the things that happen in the underworld.

"I don't care what methods you use, how many people you hire, or how much money you spend," Xiao Lei's voice rose. "I want him crippled, do you understand?"

Biaozi paused for a second, then smiled: "Alright, Young Master Xiao, give me some time, I'll make the arrangements."

Xiao Lei hung up the phone, tossed it onto the passenger seat, and started the car.

As the Audi drove out of the residential area, he glanced at the window on the seventh floor in the rearview mirror.

The curtains were drawn, so I couldn't see anything.

He looked away, stepped on the gas, and the car sped off, merging into the traffic and quickly disappearing from sight.

Inside the white Porsche, Cui Ying drove and glanced at Chen Ping.

Chen Ping leaned back in his chair, looking out the window with no expression on his face.

"Was that Xiao Lei just now?" Cui Ying asked.

"Um."

"Aren't you angry about what he said?"

Chen Ping turned to look at her and smiled, "Why bother arguing with a mad dog? If it bites you, are you going to bite back?"

Cui Ying thought for a moment, then a smile appeared on her lips.

She slapped the steering wheel and said, "Your 'washing pots and pans' comment was too harsh," before bursting into laughter.

Chen Ping didn't laugh, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

The car stopped at the red light.

Cui Ying turned her head and looked at Chen Ping, her eyes full of expectation.

"Chen Ping."

"Um?"

"Don't you really care about your ex-wife at all?"

Chen Ping looked at the red light ahead, and after two seconds, the red light turned green.

He looked away, said "Let's drive," and didn't reply.

Cui Ying pursed her lips, stepped on the gas, and the car continued to drive forward.

The white Porsche drove through the streets of Tianhai City and turned into the villa community.

The security guard at the gate lifted the railing and saluted, but Cui Ying didn't look at him.

The car stopped in front of the villa, and Chen Ping got out and took the two suitcases out of the trunk.

Cui Ying wanted to help, but he stopped her.

"I'll do it myself."

He carried his suitcase through the gate, changed his shoes, and went up to the second floor.

Cui Ying stood downstairs, watching his figure disappear around the corner of the stairs. She stood there for two seconds, then turned and went into the kitchen.

She opened the refrigerator, looked at what was inside, and then closed it again. She had originally intended to cook a meal for Chen Ping, but looking at the various ingredients in the refrigerator, she hesitated.

She really can't cook, she can only make noodles...
