Chen Ping looked at him, neither in a hurry nor arguing.
"Xiao Chen is a doctor," Cui Ying's father quickly spoke up for Chen Ping, "His medical skills are excellent."
"Old Cui, no matter how good your son-in-law's medical skills are, he's getting on in years. Everyone knows that medical skills require experience."
"To put it bluntly, your son-in-law is barely grown up; how can he possibly be more experienced than a specialist or department head at a major hospital?"
Old Zhou questioned Cui Ying's father.
Cui Ying's father could only smile awkwardly; he didn't know how to refute her.
"Boss Zhou, you're right. Perhaps I don't have the experience of those expert directors."
"But experts have their expertise, and I have mine. Just because the experts couldn't cure your illness doesn't mean I can't."
Chen Ping remained calm and did not get angry at Lao Zhou's words.
Old Zhou's lips twitched, his disdain becoming even more pronounced. "Then tell me, how can you prove you can cure it?"
Chen Ping stood up and took a few steps closer to Lao Zhou. "It's very simple. Give me twenty minutes, and I'll give you an acupuncture treatment."
After the treatment, I guarantee your face will stop twitching and your tinnitus will disappear.
Looking at Chen Ping, Old Zhou saw that Chen Ping was calm and confident, and he began to feel a little uneasy.
"Alright, since you put it that way, then give it a try..." Old Zhou nodded!
"Boss Zhou, I can treat your illness, but we're going to take a gamble," Chen Ping said.
"Bet? What are you betting on?" Old Zhou asked, looking puzzled.
"I'm betting on my medical skills. If I cure you and the treatment is effective, your contract will be based on Uncle Cui's price. If it's ineffective, the contract will be based on your price."
After Chen Ping finished speaking, he added, "Do you dare to bet?"
He was trying to provoke Lao Zhou.
The private room fell silent again.
Cui Ying's father glanced at Chen Ping but remained silent.
Old Zhou looked at Chen Ping, and his eyes changed, becoming playful. He felt that Chen Ping was becoming more and more interesting.
He put his legs down and leaned forward.
"Xiao Chen, do you know how much I spent on this treatment in the provincial capital?"
"have no idea."
"Including the examinations and treatment, it cost over 40,000 yuan. Do you know how long that took?"
"have no idea."
"Three months. We consulted three chief physicians, each more famous than the last, and each one was more helpless than the last."
He rolled up his sleeve, revealing several needle marks on his forearm that hadn't completely faded. "You told me twenty minutes?"
Chen Ping looked at him without saying a word.
Old Zhou stared at Chen Ping for a few seconds, then smiled.
He rolled up his sleeves, pushed the contract on the table aside to make room, and rested his arm on it.
"Okay, twenty minutes. If it's not done well, the contract will be based on my price. If it's done well, it will be based on Mr. Cui's price. I, Lao Zhou, keep my word."
Cui Ying's father glanced at Chen Ping, and Chen Ping nodded slightly to him.
Cui Ying's father didn't say anything more, but moved his chair half a foot to the side to make room for her.
Chen Ping walked over to Lao Zhou and made him turn around so that his back was facing him.
The man did as he was told, his movements unhurried and deliberate, as if he were entering a barbershop.
Chen Ping reached out and pressed on the back of his neck, from Fengchi acupoint all the way to Dazhui, and then from Tianzhu to Jianjing.
When the pressure was applied to a point one inch below the right Tianzhu acupoint, the man's shoulder suddenly tensed, and he hissed, but didn't cry out. However, his neck involuntarily tilted to the left.
"That's it?" Chen Ping asked. "How long has it been hurting?"
The man didn't speak, but he didn't turn his neck back.
Chen Ping asked his secretary to buy a pack of disposable silver needles from the hospital pharmacy.
The secretary returned less than ten minutes later, carrying an unopened needle case. Inside the transparent plastic bag were a row of silver needles as thin as hair.
Chen Ping opened the packaging and pulled out the thinnest one.
The silver needles were held between my fingers, gleaming coldly under the fluorescent light.
He made the man lower his head, exposing the entire back of his neck.
The first needle was inserted into the Tianzhu acupoint. The man's shoulder twitched the moment the needle tip pierced his skin, but he did not flinch.
The second needle was inserted into the Bailao point on the neck, and the third needle was inserted into the Dazhui point.
After three needles, Chen Ping's fingers began to rotate, three times clockwise, one time counterclockwise, and then two more times clockwise, with neither too much nor too little force, and at a moderate pace.
The man's breathing went from shallow to deep, and from deep to even. Chen Ping took two more needles and inserted them into Fengchi and Jianjing acupoints, using the same technique as before, but with different directions and numbers of rotations.
In less than ten minutes, all five needles were inserted.
Chen Ping told the man to keep his head down and not move, to step back and stand aside to wait.
The private room was so quiet that you could hear the ticking of the clock on the wall, tick-tock, tick-tock, at a leisurely pace.
Cui Ying's father held his teacup, took a sip, and stared at the back of the man's head as if he were looking at something strange.
The secretary stood at the door, not daring to breathe.
Time passed second by second.
Five minutes later, Chen Ping removed the five needles.
"You can try moving it..." Chen Ping said.
Old Zhou, who was sitting on the tatami mat, stirred.
He slowly raised his head, turned his neck, once to the left and once to the right, and then looked up and down twice.
He reached out and touched his right cheek, from his cheekbone to his chin, and then from his chin back to his cheekbone.
His expression changed from indifference to seriousness, and then from seriousness to confusion.
He turned his head, looked at Chen Ping, his lips moved slightly, but he didn't say anything.
"Boss Zhou, why don't you try it? Does it work?" Chen Ping stood in front of him, his voice not loud.
The man didn't speak, but moved the right side of his face forcefully, then moved it again, and then moved it again.
Then he laughed, this time a genuine laugh, a laugh that was kind of funny.
He reached out and patted Chen Ping's arm hard, making a loud sound.
"I'm not smoking anymore. Not even a little bit."
His voice carried an incredible lightness, as if a weight had been lifted from it. "My ears aren't ringing anymore, and my head isn't dizzy anymore. Xiao Chen, what kind of acupuncture technique is this?"
Chen Ping put the needles back into the needle case. "Five Elements Needling Technique."
The man paused for a moment, "Five Elements Acupuncture?"
Chen Ping smiled and threw the silver needle into the trash can. These disposable silver needles can only be used once and then need to be discarded.
The man stood up from the tatami mat, picked up the contract on the table, turned to the last page, took out his pen from his suit pocket, unscrewed the cap, and signed his name quickly.
He pushed the contract in front of Cui Ying's father, put down his pen, and raised his teacup towards Chen Ping.
"Mr. Cui, your son-in-law is better at negotiating than you are. The contract is signed, at your price."
Old Zhou was very straightforward; he didn't make excuses or try to justify himself, and signed the contract directly.
Perhaps that's just the nature of a big businessman.
Cui Ying's father stared at the signed name on the contract for a second, then burst into laughter.
He picked up the pen, signed the contract, put it in his briefcase, and clinked his teacup against the man's.
The crisp sound was especially pleasant in the quiet private room.
After chatting for a few more minutes, Lao Zhou got up to leave.
As they reached the door, Old Zhou suddenly stopped, turned around, and looked at Chen Ping. "Young Chen, which hospital do you work at? I'd love to introduce some friends to support you."
"I'm at the Siping Township Health Center," Chen Ping replied.
The man's smile paused for a moment, but quickly returned.
He nodded and said, "Siping Township? It's a bit far, but it's okay, there are cars available now."
Old Zhou is gone.
