Sent to the countryside, I turned the health center into a top-tier hospital.
Chapter 151 Eating Shit
It was almost 1 p.m. when Chen Ping and Cui Ying left Zhou Xiaohe's house.
One of the motion-activated lights in the hallway was broken, leaving one floor dark. Cui Ying walked slowly, with Chen Ping following behind her, and the two of them went downstairs one after the other.
Once in the car, Chen Ping, having been drinking, sat in the passenger seat, fastened his seatbelt, and let Cui Ying drive.
Cui Ying started the car, left the residential area, and drove onto the main road.
Chen Ping had drunk quite a bit; his face was flushed, and he leaned back in his chair with his eyes closed.
Cui Ying glanced at him, said nothing, and cracked the car window open.
A breeze blew in, carrying the chill of late autumn, making one feel refreshed.
After driving for about twenty minutes, Cui Ying suddenly slowed down, moved to the right, and stopped in a temporary parking space on the side of the road.
Chen Ping opened his eyes and looked in the direction she was looking.
Across the street is a Western restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and warm yellow lighting, making it easy to see the people sitting inside.
Su Meng and Xiao Lei sat facing each other in the window seats.
Xiao Lei was wearing a dark suit, his hair was neatly combed, and there was a steak in front of him, which he barely touched.
Su Meng was wearing a light-colored coat, her hair was down, and there was a glass of water in front of her. She didn't drink it, she just sat there, looking at Xiao Lei's face. Her expression was hard to tell whether she was angry or annoyed, but it was definitely not happy.
"Isn't that your ex-wife?"
Cui Ying said in a low voice.
Chen Ping looked out the window without saying a word.
He glanced at it, then looked away, leaned back in his chair, and said, "Let's go."
They're already divorced, so it's none of his business whether Su Meng has lunch with Xiao Lei or not.
Cui Ying didn't move, looking at the glass window, her brows furrowing slightly.
"Who is that man? They look like they're arguing."
After she finished speaking, she glanced at Chen Ping again, "Do you want to take a look?"
Chen Ping turned his head to look again.
Su Meng was clearly agitated. Although it was impossible to hear what she was saying, her excited expression was clearly visible.
No one knows what Xiao Lei said, but Su Meng suddenly stood up, picked up the glass of water in front of her, and splashed it on Xiao Lei's face.
Water splashed up and flashed under the light. Xiao Lei's hair was wet, and water streamed down his face. He paused for a second, then took a tissue to wipe his face.
Su Meng had already turned and left, her steps quick, her high heels clicking on the floor as she pushed open the glass door of the Western restaurant.
Xiao Lei followed her out, caught up with her at the door, and reached out to grab her arm.
Su Meng tried to shake him off but failed. She turned around and slapped him across the face.
It made a loud bang, loud enough to be heard across the street.
Xiao Lei released his hand, covered his face, and stood at the door without moving.
Su Meng walked angrily forward, reached the roadside, and hailed a taxi.
She stopped halfway up her hand.
She saw the white Porsche parked across the street, saw Chen Ping sitting in the passenger seat, and saw Cui Ying in the driver's seat.
Her gaze met Chen Ping's across the street; neither of them moved, neither of them spoke.
The few seconds of silence felt like an eternity.
Su Meng put down her hand, turned around, and just then a taxi drove up. She opened the car door, got in, and closed the door.
The taxi merged into the traffic, its taillights flashed twice, and it disappeared around the corner.
Xiao Lei stood at the entrance of the Western restaurant, covering his face. Following Su Meng's gaze, he also saw the white Porsche.
His face turned red, whether from the slap mark or from anger, he didn't know. He stared at Chen Ping for two seconds and saw the mocking smile on Chen Ping's face.
At this moment, Xiao Lei felt a surge of anger and walked towards Chen Ping.
Xiao Lei strode across the road without looking at the cars. A taxi passed by him and the driver honked the horn, but he didn't even turn his head.
He walked to the white Porsche, bent down, put one arm on the roof and the other hand on the window frame, and brought his face close to Chen Ping, less than a foot away.
The handprint on his face hadn't faded yet; it was still red, with clearly defined fingers. His lips were downturned, and the fire in his eyes looked like it could burn through the car window.
"Chen Ping, don't be so smug."
His voice wasn't loud, but every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying an uncontrollable hatred.
Chen Ping leaned back in his chair and looked at him. His lips twitched, but he didn't say anything. His gaze was as calm as if he were looking at someone who had nothing to do with him.
Xiao Lei was further enraged by his gaze, and leaned forward, bracing himself against the car window frame with one hand.
"You think you've won? Do you think that even if you divorce Su Meng, I still won't be able to have her?"
"Let me tell you, there's no woman in this world that I, Xiao Lei, can't have. At worst, I'll force myself on her and see what she dares to do then."
Xiao Lei's voice rose half an octave, and spittle splattered onto the car window.
Upon hearing this, Chen Ping frowned slightly and uttered two words: "Trash..."
Cui Ying sat in the driver's seat, her hands on the steering wheel, and glanced at Xiao Lei with eyes full of disgust.
Suddenly, Cui Ying also spoke up: "Bullshit..."
"You guys..." Xiao Lei stared wide-eyed.
Before Xiao Lei could finish speaking, Cui Ying gently moved her hand on the steering wheel, started the car, and the engine emitted a deep roar.
Just as Chen Ping was about to say something, the car suddenly lurched backward.
It's not going forward, it's going backward, reversing.
Xiao Lei was leaning against the car window when the car suddenly reversed. He lost his balance and fell forward. His hand slipped off the window, he stumbled a couple of steps, and then fell to the ground.
He braced himself on his hands, his knees scraped against the asphalt, and he ended up sprawled face down, looking like a dog face down.
The sleeve of his dark suit was smudged with dust, his tie was askew behind his neck, and his hair was a mess, with a few wet strands sticking to his forehead. He looked utterly disheveled.
Cui Ying stopped the car, glanced at Xiao Lei lying on the ground, a slight smile appeared on her lips, shifted into drive, and the car drove steadily past Xiao Lei.
Xiao Lei was startled, thinking that Cui Ying was going to bump into him, so he rolled to the side.
Cui Ying gripped the steering wheel, her eyes fixed on the road ahead, her face expressionless, but the smile on her lips never faded.
Chen Ping leaned back in his chair and glanced at her.
"Who is that guy? Why is he so annoying?" Cui Ying asked.
Chen Ping said, "Xiao Lei is the son of Vice Mayor Xiao of Tianhai City."
Cui Ying's fingers paused on the steering wheel for a moment, but she didn't say anything.
The car stopped at a red light at an intersection. She turned her head to look at Chen Ping, waiting for him to continue.
"He's in the medical device business. When I was the purchasing director at the Municipal People's Hospital, he wanted me to use their products, but I didn't, and that's how we got along."
Chen Ping's voice was soft, as if he were talking about something that didn't really concern him. "Later, my divorce from Su Meng was also related to him. He had been pursuing Su Meng for several years."
Cui Ying didn't say anything. The red light turned green, and she stepped on the gas, and the car continued to drive forward.
"His father is the vice mayor, and he has considerable influence in Tianhai City. Don't offend him in the future. Your family does business in Tianhai City, and offending the vice mayor is no joke." Chen Ping turned his head to look at Cui Ying, his tone becoming more serious.
Cui Ying looked at the road ahead, not at him.
"And what about you? Why aren't you afraid of him?" Cui Ying asked.
Chen Ping smiled, leaned back in his chair, and looked out the window.
The street scenes rushed past, and sunlight streamed in through the car window, illuminating his face. His smile was faint, but genuine.
"I'm just a doctor at a health center. I don't work in Tianhai City, and I don't beg for food in his father's territory."
"I'm all alone, I have nothing to lose. Even if the mayor comes, let alone the vice mayor, I'm not afraid," Chen Ping said with a smile.
Cui Ying turned her head to look at him for two seconds, then looked away, the corners of her mouth curving into a wider smile than before.
She didn't say anything more, stepped on the gas, and the car accelerated forward. The wind from outside rushed in, making her hair flutter.
