Zhou Jie was wiping the blood off Xu Feng's face with a tissue when she heard this. She suddenly looked up and yelled at the young man, "Zheng Kai, have you no shame?! When did Xiao Yan become your girlfriend?!"

"She's always had a boyfriend, Xu Feng! She's told you so many times she doesn't like you, but you just kept pestering her, and now she's even hitting you with a steel pipe!"

Zheng Kai was stunned for a moment by Zhou Jie's outburst, but he quickly regained his arrogant demeanor, slamming his steel pipe on the ground, sending up a spray of cement dust. Chen Ping had already understood the whole story from the conversation between the group. The Zheng Kai in front of him was the rich second-generation that Zhou Jie had mentioned who had pursued Sun Xiaoyan for two years at school.

He took a step forward and stood in front of Zheng Kai, his gaze slowly sweeping from Zheng Kai's face to the steel pipe in his hand. He said in an icy voice, "Throw away what you're holding and watch your mouth."

Zheng Kai felt uneasy under Chen Ping's gaze and instinctively took a step back.

Behind Chen Ping stood Wang Tao and Liu Wei. Although they weren't particularly burly, the two of them together were quite a large figure.

Zheng Kai's eyes darted around, wondering whether he should retreat first, when suddenly a sharp braking sound came from behind him.

A black Audi A6 stopped in front of the health center. The car doors slammed open one after another, and four young men jumped out of the car.

Some had buzz cuts, some wore fake gold chains around their necks, and some wore tight leather jackets. They all had their necks tilted and eyes squinted, looking like the kind of people who usually loiter around the streets of the county.

One of them walked up to Zheng Kai, spat the cigarette butt out of his mouth onto the ground, and ground it with the sole of his shoe.

"Brother Kai, is that all? It'll only take a pack of cigarettes each. Let's get them."

When Zheng Kai saw that his men had arrived, he immediately straightened his back.

He weighed the steel pipe in his hand, raised his chin, and gave Chen Ping a sinister smile. "If you know what's good for you, get out of here and hand over that poor bastard. I only want his leg today; you guys are off the hook."

Chen Ping didn't move.

Zheng Kai's smile faded, and his eyes turned gloomy.

He spat to the side, raised the steel pipe, and shouted, "What are you standing there for? Get him!" The men behind him rushed over in a flurry.

The man with the buzz cut rushed to the front, but before his fist could even reach Chen Ping, Chen Ping raised his hand to block it. He tripped and fell face-first to the ground, knocking out half of his front tooth and his mouth full of blood when he got up.

The fake gold chain swung a wooden stick that he had picked up from somewhere from the side. Chen Ping dodged to the side and slapped the man's wrist. The stick flew out of his hand and hit the edge of the flower bed. The man clutched his wrist and squatted down, grimacing.

Just as the man in the leather jacket pulled out his phone to throw at someone, Chen Ping grabbed his wrist and twisted it backward, forcing him to turn around. He was then gently pushed behind his knees and fell to his knees, his face pressed against the cement ground, while he shouted, "Let go! Let go!"

The remaining two looked at each other, fists raised, standing still, unsure whether to advance or retreat.

Zhao Guosheng had already taken out his phone, dialed the township police station's number, and shouted into the microphone, "Someone at the health center is attacking with a weapon, come quickly!"

Upon hearing "The police have been called," the young men took off running to the car. The man with the fake gold chain was the fastest, while the man in the leather jacket scrambled to get into the car. The man with the buzz cut covered his mouth and cursed as he ran.

The Audi A6's engine roared, its tires scraping against the concrete, leaving a trail of blue smoke, before it veered onto the dirt road and sped off recklessly.

Zheng Kai also wanted to run away.

He had just turned around and taken two steps when Chen Ping grabbed his collar and pulled him back like a chick.

Zheng Kai struggled twice but couldn't break free. His mouth didn't stop, though; he twisted and turned, yelling, "Do you know who I am? You dare hit me? You believe I can shut down this lousy clinic with one phone call and make you all lose your jobs!"

Chen Ping neither let go nor said anything.

The others in the courtyard looked at him like he was a clown. Zheng Kai's face went from red to white, and then from white to gray.

Not long after, a police car from the township police station arrived with its siren blaring.

As soon as the car door opened, Chief Zhou jumped out with two auxiliary police officers. He glanced at the steel pipe lying on the ground and Xu Feng's blood-covered face, and without saying a word, he took out handcuffs and handcuffed Zheng Kai.

As Zheng Kai was being forced into the police car, he was still shouting, "Why are you arresting me?" but his voice was noticeably weaker than before, and the last few words were almost squeezed out of his throat.

Inside the iron gate, Zheng Kai sat with his legs crossed in the interrogation room, one hand cuffed to the armrest of the chair, while the other hand was twirling a lighter.

Director Zhou sat opposite him, opened his notebook, and asked in a businesslike tone, "Name? Age? Why did you assault him?"

Zheng Kai slammed the lighter on the table, leaned back in his chair, and raised his chin high. "Zheng Kai, Zheng as in Zheng Chenggong, Kai as in triumph, twenty-two. Hitting someone? I didn't hit anyone. I was just joking around with my girlfriend. The guy next to her pushed me, and I just casually blocked it. Who knew he was so fragile?"

He said this with a smile on his face, completely disregarding the police station chief sitting opposite him.

Director Zhou put his pen down on his notebook, looked at him, and said, "Your girlfriend? What's your relationship with that girl?"

Zheng Kai wiggled his raised foot twice, the sole of his shoe making a clattering sound against the table leg.
