Sent to the countryside, I turned the health center into a top-tier hospital.

Chen Ping glanced at Liu Mazi and nodded slightly.

Liu Mazi understood, and he and Ma Zhihao simultaneously released their grip, took two steps back, and stood on either side of the corridor.

The man's arm was freed, and he moved his wrist, grimacing as he rubbed the spot that had been squeezed red.

The woman rushed over and touched her son from head to toe, feeling his shoulders and arms, muttering, "Where are you hurt? Where did they hit you? Let Mom see..."

"Mom, it's nothing, they just twisted my arm."

The man rubbed his wrist, his expression changing from arrogance to a slightly aggrieved complaint.

When the woman heard her son say that everything was alright, her heart finally settled down, but then her expression changed, as if she had finally found an outlet for her pent-up emotions.

She plopped down on the ground, slapping the concrete with both hands, her trouser legs smearing dust all over the floor, and screamed at the top of her lungs, "This is outrageous! The people from the clinic beat me! They grabbed my son and twisted his arm!"

"I'm just an old woman, and they publicly berated me. I'm too ashamed to face anyone when I get home! Now they've even hit my son! You're trying to drive my whole family to our deaths! I'm not leaving until I get an explanation!"

Her voice was high-pitched and loud, echoing throughout the corridor.

Several patients receiving IV drips in the ward peeked out, and patients waiting in the corridor also gathered around, and more and more people gathered.

Wang Tao stood at the edge of the crowd, wanting to stop them but not knowing where to start.

Liu Wei peeked out of the consultation room, glanced at the scene, and then withdrew. He knew he couldn't handle the situation; Zhao Guosheng was much more experienced.

The man stood next to his mother, straightened his back, and raised his voice again: "Yes! I'm calling the police! Not only did you instigate my wife to curse my mother, but you also hit me."

"I want to take my child away and leave you here, but you're stopping me. Are you trying to force me to buy or sell him?"

"It's my own child, I have the right to take him away! I'm not going to get treatment at this lousy clinic anymore! Your doctors are no good, your nurses are no good, and they even beat people up, I don't trust you!"

The man took out his phone, tapped a few times on the screen, dialed 110, and spoke into the microphone, stating the address and the situation in a voice as loud as if he were announcing his rights to the whole world.

After hanging up the phone, he glared at Chen Ping fiercely. "Just wait, the police will be here soon. Let's see how you explain yourselves then."

The young woman stood in the ward, the handprint still visible on her face.

She didn't say another word from beginning to end, but just watched her husband and mother-in-law's self-righteous expressions, and the fire in her eyes gradually died out, until only an emptiness remained, without even the strength to sigh.

Her hands hung at her sides, her fingers slightly curled, as if she were clutching something, but she wasn't actually holding onto anything.

Chen Ping looked at the marks on the woman's face and her lifeless expression, remained silent for a few seconds, then turned to the man. "Your son still has a fever. He had a febrile seizure just now. If you take him away now, the journey will be bumpy for several hours, and the child won't be able to withstand it. You can leave, but you'll have to bring the child's fever down first."

The man retorted defiantly, "That's my child. I can take him wherever I want. What business is it of yours, a doctor? I said I don't want to see him anymore, and that's final!"

Chen Ping did not argue with him anymore.

He knew that this kind of person was unreasonable and that talking to them would be useless.

Less than twenty minutes later, two police officers arrived from the police station.

A tall man and a short man, both wearing dark blue uniforms, entered the corridor, glanced around, looked at the woman sitting on the ground and the man standing next to her, and finally settled on Chen Ping.

The tall policeman recognized Chen Ping and took two steps forward. "Dr. Chen? What's going on?"

Chen Ping briefly recounted what had happened, from when the child was brought in until the conflict occurred, without embellishing or downplaying the incident, and simply recounted the conversation about the raw egg in the clinic.

The short policeman then questioned several other people present, and Wang Tao and Zhou Jie both nodded, confirming that Chen Ping was telling the truth.

After listening to the woman's story, the police officer looked at her still groaning on the ground, then turned to the man and said, "It's your legal right to take the child away. The child is yours, and the guardian has the right to decide where to seek medical treatment."

"But given the child's current condition, the doctor recommends continued observation. If you insist on leaving, you will be responsible for any problems that arise."

Upon hearing this, the man straightened his back even more, raised his chin, and said, "I'll take full responsibility! I'll handle anything that happens myself; it has nothing to do with the health center! Just let me go!"

The two police officers exchanged a glance, and the taller one shook his head and stepped aside to make way for them.

Upon seeing this, the man pushed open the door to the ward and went inside, bending down to remove the IV needle from the child's hand.

The young woman finally moved. She quickly followed her in and stood in front of the bed. "What are you doing? The baby is still on an IV drip!"

"What are you losing for! Go home!" The man shoved her away, his hand already touching the tape on the IV catheter.

The young woman was pushed and stumbled, bumping into the bedside table. Her elbow hit the corner of the table, making her wince in pain, but she didn't stop them.

She stood there, watching her husband clumsily pull out the IV, watching her mother-in-law rush in to help her put on her coat, watching the two of them, one holding the child and the other carrying things, lift the still dazed child off the hospital bed.

She was like an unwanted person, standing there, but no one bothered to even glance at her.

The child woke up when he was picked up. He opened his eyes groggily and saw his father and grandmother, then his mother standing next to him. He mumbled "Mom" incoherently.

Upon hearing this, the young woman's hand trembled, and she took half a step forward before stopping.

"I won't hold it against your security guards for hitting me, but I won't pay for the child's IV drip and medication either. We're even."

After the man finished speaking to Zhao Guosheng, he carried the child out of the ward, with his mother following behind carrying the cloth bag. The two of them walked towards the hospital gate without looking back.

The young woman followed behind, her steps so slow it felt like she was walking on cotton. She seemed to have lost her soul, her eyes unfocused, her lips slightly parted, lost in thought.

Chen Ping chased after her a few steps and stopped her at the gate of the courtyard. He lowered his voice and said, "When you get back, give the child his medicine and use warm water to wipe his body to lower his temperature. If his temperature exceeds 39 degrees Celsius, take him to the county hospital. Don't delay."

"Take the prescription I wrote with you. The doctor at the county hospital will know how to continue the medication after seeing it. If the child has another seizure, make sure he lies on his side and don't put anything in his mouth. Do you understand?"

The young woman listened, but only nodded, her eyes unfocused, as if she were standing still while her mind had already wandered off somewhere else.

Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she only managed to squeeze out three words: "I'll remember."

Looking at her, Chen Ping knew she hadn't remembered anything.

He took out a pen and wrote the precautions again on the back of the prescription, folded the paper, put it in her pocket, and patted the back of her hand. "Take this, don't lose it."

She nodded, turned around, and followed him.

Watching the family's retreating figures, Chen Ping sighed helplessly. He saw despair in the woman's eyes.

Everyone says that no parent in the world doesn't love their children, but this mother-in-law is really determined to break up this young couple.
