Liu Mazi stared in terror at the car hurtling towards him.

He never expected that this guy would actually dare to run someone over with his car without the slightest hesitation.

"Pockmarked..." Chen Ping roared when he saw that Liu Pockmarked was not moving, and charged directly at Liu Pockmarked.

Chen Ping tackled Liu Mazi to the ground and rolled over with the momentum.

As the wheels whizzed past the two people, the tires screeched across the concrete.

Chen Ping rolled half a circle on the ground with Liu Mazi in his arms, his back hitting the edge of the flower bed by the door with a dull thud. His elbow was scraped and burned.

Liu Mazi fell to the side, his face pale. He was stunned for two or three seconds before he reacted and suddenly got up from the ground.

Then, clenching his fists, he was about to charge forward, cursing, "You motherfucker, you really dare to run someone over? I'll kill you today!"

Chen Ping grabbed his arm. "Don't move."

Liu Mazi struggled but couldn't break free. He turned around, his face trembling with fear. "Dr. Chen, don't stop me! This bastard really dares to run someone over with his car!"

Chen Ping didn't let go. He slowly stood up from the ground, patted the dust off his body, and found that his palms were scraped and bleeding.

The driver of the BMW X5 got out of the car.

He looked to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, with his hair neatly parted, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, a dark gray slim-fit suit, and shiny leather shoes.

After getting out of the car, he straightened his collar and then looked at Liu Mazi slowly.

He pointed at Liu Mazi with a casual, arrogant tone: "You're lucky today. Next time you block my way, I'll run you over."

"What? You want to hit me? Believe me or not, if you touch me with one finger, I can put you in jail for life and flatten this lousy clinic too."

"You're bragging..."

Liu Mazi gritted his teeth, thinking about rushing forward.

But Chen Ping pulled him back, and he could only clench his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked. When he saw Chen Ping shake his head, he managed to suppress his anger.

The man glanced at Chen Ping, his gaze sweeping over him, noticing the torn sleeve and the bloodstains on his palms, before looking away as if he hadn't seen them.

"Fine, I won't bother with you country bumpkins."

He turned around and was about to walk into the car.

Liu Mazi said to Chen Ping, "Dr. Chen, this guy is the one who came to see Cui Ying a couple of days ago. Cui Ying didn't want to see him, but he drove this beat-up car and blocked the door for an hour. Cui Ying had no choice but to see him."

"I can't believe he's showing up again today, acting all high and mighty. I'm just a worthless wretch; I don't believe he'd actually dare to kill me."

The more Liu Mazi spoke, the angrier he became, his teeth grinding together.

Chen Ping frowned, looking at the man who had reopened the car door. His gaze lingered on the license plate of the BMW X5 for a moment before he spoke: "Wait a minute."

The man's hand stopped on the car door handle. He turned around and looked at Chen Ping. "What's up?"

Chen Ping took a few steps forward and stood in front of the car. "Are you here to look for someone?"

The man looked Chen Ping up and down, his gaze lingering on his dusty clothes and scraped hands. "Are you the doctor here?"

"That's me," Chen Ping said.

"Okay, where's Cui Ying? I'll look for her."

The man's tone was full of arrogance, "Go and call her out, and tell her I've come to see her."

Chen Ping sized up the man and asked, "What's your relationship to her?"

"Who am I to her? Is it any of your business to ask? Just call her that, why all the nonsense?"

The man was getting impatient.

Chen Ping sneered, "You think I'll just call him 'Dad' because you tell me to? Are you my son? Call me 'Dad' and I'll go call him for you."

"Did you eat shit when you were a kid? Don't you know how to ask someone for a favor?"

The man was stunned. He never expected that someone would dare to insult him in this poor, remote place.

Liu Mazi was furious, but upon hearing Chen Ping's words, he instantly burst into laughter.

"Dr. Chen, it really is him..." Liu Mazi gave Chen Ping a thumbs up.

"Damn it, are you looking for a beating?"

The tall man, standing at 1.8 meters, was about to throw a punch at Chen Ping with a furious expression.

Just as they were about to make their move, a loud shout rang out.

"Ding Peng, what are you doing?"

With a loud shout, Cui Ying emerged from the accounting office at some point and stormed over.

Cui Ying glanced at Chen Ping, then at Ding Peng standing next to the BMW, her expression shifting from anger to an indescribable coldness.

When Ding Peng saw Cui Ying, his expression changed, from the lazy arrogance he had just displayed to a smiling, ingratiating one. "Yingying, didn't you say you were busy the other day? I just happened to have some free time today, so I came to see you."

"The doctor at this lousy clinic is really unprofessional. He actually cursed at me just now. If I hadn't been being considerate of you, I would have hit him."

After saying that, Ding Peng glared fiercely at Chen Ping.

Cui Ying ignored him, turned her head to look at Chen Ping, her gaze lingering on his scraped hand for a moment before she frowned. "What happened to your hand?"

Chen Ping hid his hand behind his back. "It's nothing, just a little bump."

Cui Ying didn't press further, and turned her gaze back to Ding Peng. "I've already said, there's nothing more to say between us. Don't come again."

Ding Peng's smile froze for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "Yingying, I've come all this way, can't you at least give me the honor of having dinner together tonight?"

"No time!" Cui Ying said, turning to leave.

Seeing this, Ding Peng reached out to grab Cui Ying and prevent her from leaving!

Seeing this, Chen Ping immediately grabbed Ding Peng's wrist, rendering Ding Peng unable to move his hand.

Ding Peng was stunned and tried to break free, but found that Chen Ping's hand was like a pair of pliers, and he couldn't break free at all.

"You and him..."

Ding Peng opened his mouth to curse, but seeing that Cui Ying was still there, he immediately swallowed the profanity and said, "Let go of me."

"I can let you go, but if you dare lay a hand on Cui Ying, believe me, I'll chop your hand off!"

Chen Ping's tone wasn't harsh, but every word seemed to carry a chill.

Cui Ying looked at Chen Ping, pursed her lips, and then smiled.

Upon seeing this, Ding Peng frowned, as if he had guessed something.

"Who do you think you are? Cui Ying is my girlfriend, I can't just do whatever I want to her," Ding Peng roared.

Chen Ping released his grip and looked at Cui Ying, his eyes full of inquiry.

"Ding Peng, stop talking nonsense. Who's your girlfriend? We broke up a long time ago."

Fearing that Chen Ping might misunderstand, Cui Ying quickly said...

"Yingying, we're breaking up because I'm going abroad and I don't know if I'll ever come back. I'm afraid I won't be able to give you happiness, so that's why we're breaking up."

"Now that I'm back, I can make you happy. You don't have to stay in this godforsaken place anymore to avoid your family's pressure to get married."

As Ding Peng spoke, he moved closer to Cui Ying.
