Transcending Godhood: I Extract Keywords and Crush the Gods
Chapter 144: The Web of Death
The shadow of death loomed over the adjutant's head, the cold glint of the high-frequency cutting blade dancing under the operating lights.
Moor did not release any pressure, but his indifference, which regarded demons' lives as worthless, chilled the demons to the bone.
The anger subsided.
Fear and the will to survive regain control of the brain.
The adjutant's gaze passed over Moore's shoulder and landed on the dissection table number one, inside the chest cavity of the vulture, where the half-human remains of his tribesman were being dissected.
The tribesman's eyes were still open, but his eyeballs were cloudy and unfocused.
He didn't want it to become like this.
Reason returned.
He began to analyze the current situation.
Ryan and his men have been gone for five whole days without a word.
The heavy beetles and plasma worms outside were conducting a frenzied, carpet-like search.
This is by no means a coincidence.
It's highly likely that Raine and his team's mimicry abilities have been exposed.
In this bizarre divine realm, the genes of the Time Demon race might be extremely attractive to those insects.
They have become prey.
The energy reserves of the Veil of Time will not last more than ten days.
Once the crystal cores are exhausted, the remaining half-crippled members of the tribe will have to act as human batteries to sustain them for at most a few days.
Once the barrier was breached, the swarm of insects poured in.
Everyone will be torn to pieces, or drained into dried corpses by those dark red demonic trees.
Rushing out means death, staying behind to wait for death also means death.
Moore's proposed "body possession and fusion" plan sounds insane.
However, it is currently the only way to survive in this divine realm.
The premise is that the experiment can succeed.
The premise is that one can retain one's complete soul and consciousness.
The adjutant swallowed a mouthful of bloody saliva, braced himself on the floor, and slowly stood up.
"I understand." The adjutant's voice regained its composure, no longer showing the hysteria from before.
Moer raised an eyebrow and pressed down slightly with the hand holding the high-frequency cutting blade.
"Those guys outside can't hold back anymore." The adjutant pointed to the metal door of the laboratory. "Bart is leading the charge; hundreds of them are blocking the entrance."
"They want the truth, they want the serum. If this drags on any longer, they'll just blow this door open."
A murderous glint flashed in Moore's eyes.
"It would be easy for you to kill them all," the adjutant quickly interjected, his speech accelerating.
"But your lab needs supplies, and the Veil of Time needs manpower to maintain it."
"You alone cannot stop the swarm of insects outside, nor can you finish so many dissections and sutures."
The adjutant took a step forward, demonstrating his core value as a deputy.
"I can help you calm them down; I can quell this upheaval."
"I can buy you enough time to refine this fusion experiment."
Moore looked at him without saying a word.
"I have only one request." The adjutant gritted his teeth and pointed to Carter on the second dissection table.
"When the experimental technology matures, I want the most perfect body."
"I want to make sure my soul and memories are preserved intact."
Moore stared at his adjutant for a full ten seconds.
He then tossed the high-frequency cutting blade into the tray.
"You've finally gotten your brain back." Moore walked to the sink next to him.
"If you had said another word of nonsense, or dared to make a move..."
"You are now lying on dissection table number five. I need a complete spinal cord sample."
The adjutant broke out in a cold sweat.
He won his bet.
Moll turned off the tap and grabbed a towel to dry his hands.
"A qualified adjutant doesn't need excessive sympathy; he only needs to see the situation clearly."
Moore turned and walked toward a temperature-controlled refrigerator in the corner of the laboratory.
"It's good that you can face reality. I'll take this deal."
Mo'er entered the password, and the glass door of the refrigerator popped open.
He took out a silver metal briefcase, walked back to the dissection table, and pushed the briefcase in front of the adjutant.
"Open."
The adjutant pressed the latch and opened the box lid.
Cold air is escaping.
Twenty glass test tubes were neatly arranged in the box.
The test tube contained a dark red liquid, with faint golden threads moving within it.
"What is this?" the adjutant asked, puzzled.
"The serum you want," Moore replied casually.
The adjutant looked up, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Moore just said that the serum doesn't exist at all!
"To be precise, this is a defective product, or a catalyst."
Moll pointed to the demonic eagle on the first dissection table, "These past few days, I've chopped up dozens of native creatures and extracted their venom glands and bone marrow."
Moore picked up a test tube and waved it under the light.
"I mixed the spiritual energy of this godforsaken place with the neurotoxin from that multi-headed bat, and added the spinal fluid of our Time Demon mutants."
"This stuff was produced through high-frequency centrifugation purification."
Moore's eyes turned fervent.
"It cannot cure mutations, but it can forcibly deplete the user's life force to suppress the mutated characteristics on the body surface."
"After being injected with it, even people who were originally covered in scales and tentacles will return to a normal appearance within three days. The pain will also completely disappear."
The adjutant understood.
He stared at the box of dark red medicine, his scalp tingling.
On the surface, things seem to have returned to normal, but what about internally?
"It will rot inside," Moore explained, "With its life force depleted, its genetic chains will disintegrate rapidly within its body."
"Three days later, they will be completely reduced to a pool of mindless, fleshy sludge."
Moore put the test tube back in the box and continued, "This body, which is in a state of extreme disintegration, has extremely high physical activity and its soul defense is at its lowest."
"This is the perfect substrate material for fusion experiments."
Mohr patted his adjutant on the shoulder.
"Your job is to distribute these medications to those who have mutated the most and are the loudest."
Mohr's voice was deep and seductive.
"You must make sure they are secretly sent to me before they turn into mud, while they are still in their demonic form and think they are saved."
"We absolutely cannot let them explode outside. The roots of these red demon trees are extremely sensitive to this highly active flesh and blood."
"Once they land, the demon tree will suck them dry, skin and bones, and I won't get anything."
The adjutant looked down at the box of "serum".
Twenty branches, twenty lives.
He needs these twenty doses of medicine to quell the anger of the hundreds of people outside.
He also wanted to find a way to make twenty people disappear alive in this closed camp and send them to the slaughterhouse.
It was extremely difficult, but he had no way out.
The adjutant slammed the metal box shut.
"Leave it to me." The adjutant picked up the box. "I'll handle things outside. You focus on your experiments."
"I hope you remember your promise and leave me with the most perfect body."
"Go ahead." Moore waved his hand, put his medical gloves back on, picked up the high-frequency cutting scalpel, and walked towards the second dissection table.
The adjutant turned and strode toward the laboratory door.
He had already begun to devise a countermeasure in his mind.
Simply tying people up and bringing them in is absolutely not an option; it would cause an even bigger riot.
An accident must be created.
Disappearances during patrols, and energy backlash during maintenance of defensive array nodes.
He even creates the illusion of small-scale Zerg infiltration. He has plenty of methods.
The airlock hissed as it released pressure, and the metal door opened.
The air outside the door remained oppressive.
Bart stood at the very front, and behind him, the hundreds of demon warriors all had bloodshot eyes and anxious expressions.
As soon as the metal door opened, everyone's eyes turned to it.
The adjutant stepped out, carrying a silver metal briefcase.
His armor was still stained with blood from when Moore had choked him.
He was pale and looked like he had just gone through a difficult negotiation.
"Lieutenant! Where's the leader?!" Bart roared, raising his greatsword. "Do you have the serum or not?! We need an explanation today!"
"Yes! We want to see the leader!"
"We need to live!"
The crowd began to surge forward.
The dozens of guards on duty were pushed back repeatedly, and the situation was about to get out of control.
"Shut up, all of you!" The adjutant slammed the metal box he was holding onto a nearby rock.
The loud noise startled the people in the front row.
He suddenly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, and scanned everyone present.
"Explanation? What kind of explanation do you want!" The adjutant pointed to the tightly closed metal door behind him, his voice hoarse.
"The leader is inside, he hasn't slept for five days and five nights! He's risking his life to find a way for you to survive!"
The crowd quieted down.
Bart frowned and put down the greatsword in his hand.
"Do you think the spiritual energy in this godforsaken place is so easy to break?"
The adjutant ripped off the bandage on his left arm, revealing the skin beneath which a few black scales had just begun to grow.
"I'm infected too! I'm afraid of dying too!" The adjutant patted his chest.
"I just rushed in, pointed a gun at the leader's head, and forced him to hand over the potion!"
Everyone gasped in shock; the adjutant had actually dared to point a gun at the peak of the Diamond rank.
"And the result?" The adjutant gave a bitter laugh, pointing to the bruises on his neck.
"He didn't kill me; he showed me his lab bench."
The adjutant paused, then began his carefully crafted lie.
"No samples, no equipment."
"The leader has been drawing his own diamond-grade heart blood to purify the antibodies!"
"His breath had dropped to freezing point; he could barely stand!"
The adjutant's voice was extremely captivating.
"He incorporated all the purified antibodies into this batch of medicine!"
The adjutant turned around, his hands trembling as he opened the silver metal box.
The cold air dissipated, and twenty dark red vials of medicine lay on the velvet cushion.
Golden threads swirled in the liquid, exuding a deadly allure.
In the camp, hundreds of eyes were fixed on the test tubes.
Greed, desire, madness.
This is fate, and this is the hope for survival.
"This is the serum." The adjutant picked up a test tube and held it high. "The first batch of finished products obtained at the cost of the leader's life."
"Only twenty."
The moment those words were spoken, the demon group erupted in chaos.
"Give it to me! I'm the most severely mutated! My legs are rotting!"
"Bullshit! I should be the one using it first! I'm the maintainer of the array's core; if I die, who's going to hold up the energy shield!"
"Give me one! I'll trade all my savings for it!"
Hundreds of people struggled to push forward, and the scene briefly spiraled out of control.
boom!
The adjutant drew his high-energy explosive gun and fired a shot into the sky.
"Get back, all of you!" the adjutant roared, pointing his gun at the tribesman at the front.
"Anyone who dares to steal it, I'll kill them on the spot! This is the leader's hard work; it must be used wisely!"
The crowd was stunned and stood frozen in place, panting heavily.
The adjutant holstered his gun and his gaze fell on Bart.
"Bart, your brother Colin sacrificed his life for the camp. You're a true man."
The adjutant walked up to Bart and shoved a vial of medicine into his hand.
"Your left eye is infected with demonic energy. You deserve this potion."
Bart trembled all over, clutching the test tube, tears welling up in his eyes.
He had prepared himself to die in battle today, but his adjutant gave him this invaluable medicine.
"Thank... thank you, Chief... thank you, Lieutenant!" Bart knelt on one knee, his voice choked with emotion.
The adjutant turned his head and looked at the crowd.
"The quantity of the medicine is limited, and purification is extremely difficult. The leader is still drawing blood inside to continue the process!" the adjutant announced loudly.
"These twenty units are prioritized for the brothers whose mutations are most severe and who could explode at any moment!"
"As long as we suppress the mutation, we can hold out until the next batch of the drug is ready!"
"Bring the seriously wounded up!"
Twenty tribesmen who had mutated to the point of being unrecognizable, and even growing tentacles and arthropods, were carried to an open space.
They wailed in agony, their sanity teetering on the brink of collapse.
The adjutant personally stepped forward and injected the medicine into their veins.
A miracle happened.
The dark red liquid entered the body.
Within seconds, the rapidly growing tentacles stopped wriggling.
The black scales began to wither and fall off. The deformed arthropods turned into pus and flowed out, and new granulation tissue quickly grew from the wounds.
The breathing of the seriously wounded who had been groaning in pain became steady.
Their swollen faces returned to their original grayish-white color.
A member of the tribe with three eyeballs had the extra eyeballs on his face shrink and fall off.
He touched his face, which had returned to normal, and knelt on the ground, wailing loudly.
"I'm healed... I didn't mutate! I survived!"
Bart also uncorked the test tube and drank the medicine in one gulp.
The black poison gas in his left eye hole quickly dissipated, and the excruciating pain disappeared.
The entire camp erupted in excitement.
"Long live the leader!"
"Your adjutant is wise!"
"We're saved! The Time Demons won't perish!"
The gloom of despair was swept away.
The soldiers raised their weapons and cheered, the guards returned to their posts, and the array maintainers enthusiastically replaced the crystal cores.
The light from the Veil of Time even shone a little brighter.
The adjutant stood atop a high rock, looking down at the reveling crowd below.
Bart is embracing several brothers, and the tribesmen whose faces have been restored are showing their new lives to their companions.
There was not a trace of joy on the adjutant's face.
He stood with his hands behind his back, his eyes cold as if he were looking at a herd of livestock.
The medicine has taken effect.
This means that the countdown to the deaths of these twenty people has officially begun.
Three days.
He only had three days to get these twenty lively and grateful tribesmen together.
One secret after another was sent through that metal door.
"Bart is in charge of the outer patrols. We can arrange an accident to kill him outside the position, and I'll collect his body myself."
The adjutant was making plans in his mind.
"That array maintainer can be overloaded at an energy node, causing him to be severely injured and unconscious, then sent directly to the laboratory."
"As for the rest..."
The adjutant looked at all those who had drunk the potion, his mind already weaving a web of death.
