Chapter 225 How dare you lie to me!
When they returned to the embassy, Lilith was sitting on the steps by the side hall entrance, holding a blade of grass she had plucked from somewhere, idly drawing circles on the ground.
She jumped up when she saw Ji Tian and Ophelia return, her long, silvery-white hair swaying behind her: "Second Senior Sister! You're back!"
Ji Tian stopped at the entrance of the side hall and turned his head to look in Elena's direction.
Elena was sitting at a low table in the side hall, flipping through the book of elven poems. When the two entered, she closed the book, her gaze lingering on Ophelia's face for a moment before casually looking away.
Ji Tian had informed Ophelia in advance before leaving with her, but he didn't expect them to be gone for so long.
"Hot water is ready. It's in the washroom at the end of the corridor on the second floor. Wash up and then come eat."
"Thanks."
After saying that, Ophelia went upstairs. Her footsteps paused at the corner of the stairs before continuing upwards.
Elena waited until her footsteps had completely disappeared before looking at Ji Tian: "Finished sweeping the graves?"
"Yes."
"How is she?"
"It's alright, some things are better left unsaid."
"That's good. Her Majesty has sent word that the ship is ready and can depart at any time."
"Let's leave this afternoon then."
Lilith leaned closer: "Shall we go straight to the port?"
"Have lunch first, then you can leave."
……
After lunch, the group returned to the embassy. Elena had already packed her luggage—actually, there wasn't much to pack; most of her things were in her storage ring. She simply put away a few elven poetry collections and the swirl map that were scattered on the table.
The one-way teleportation array from the capital to the port is located in a natural stone chamber near the south gate, formed by the intertwined roots of ancient trees. It is similar to the one used when going to the border, only slightly smaller in scale.
The person in charge of the teleportation was a young elven mage who activated the array after verifying Ji Tian's hero's nameplate.
A blue and white light shone, and the next moment, the group was already standing in the port city of the Elven Kingdom.
This place is much more bustling than the capital. The air is filled with the salty sea breeze and the smell of fish. In the distance, masts are lined up like a dense forest, and seagulls circle and cry among the masts.
A long, drawn-out "ga-oh-" sound echoed all around.
Ji Tian stood on the stone steps at the exit of the teleportation array, his gaze sweeping over the ships moored in the harbor.
The Queen arranged for a medium-sized sailing ship, with a long hull and a carved guillotine about to take flight on its bow.
The ship's hull was constructed from the light and resilient wood unique to the elves, and its surface was covered with a very thin layer of life magic coating, which was both rot-proof and waterproof, and gleamed with a moist sheen in the afternoon sun.
As Ji Tian and his group approached the ship, a tall, slender elven woman peered out from the side of the vessel.
She appeared to be around forty years old, with short, gray-blue hair that was slightly disheveled by the sea breeze, a tanned face, and wore a faded dark blue short robe with a silver anchor badge hanging from her waist.
"Hero? I am the captain of the 'Seagull,' my name is Evelyn Windwhisper. Her Majesty the Queen has already informed me, please aboard."
Lilith was already peering out from the side of the boat, her eyes shining with excitement as she watched it gently bob on the water with the waves.
"Are we going out to sea on this? It's so beautiful!"
Captain Evelyn jumped down the gangway, her boots making a soft thud on the stone slabs as she landed.
She dusted off her hands, glanced at the overly lively silver-haired girl, and then her gaze shifted to Ji Tian.
"From the port to the waters off the Southern Islands, it takes about two and a half days with a tailwind. We've prepared food and water. If you get seasick, there are fixed ropes on the deck; just find a place to squat and don't fall overboard."
Elves do not get seasick, and generally do not stockpile seasickness potions with such short shelf lives for them.
Ophelia looked around at everyone and said, "Does anyone get seasick? I prepared seasickness medicine in advance."
Seeing Ji Tian and Elena shake their heads, Lilith, who had lived in the Demon King's Castle since childhood and had never been on a ship before, was not to be outdone. She patted her chest and assured them, "I... will get used to it."
So the group boarded the ship.
The sea breeze carried a salty and cool scent as it blew across the deck. Ji Tian stood by the ship's railing, watching the harbor gradually shrink.
Captain Evelyn was at the stern, helmed casually, while another young elven sailor was adjusting the sails with practiced ease.
About an hour after the ship set sail, Lilith started acting strangely.
She initially sat quietly on a wooden crate in the corner of the deck, her hands on her knees, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon.
After a while, her face began to turn pale, and the color of her lips faded.
She tried to stand up and take a few steps, then squatted back down. Finally, she couldn't help but run to the side of the ship and vomit while holding onto the railing.
Elena stood a short distance behind her, handing her a glass of warm water: "Can you still hold on?"
Lilith took the water glass, took a small sip, and then leaned against the railing, catching her breath for a few moments before finally managing to choke out, "I can't adapt at all! Second Senior Sister, save me!"
After saying that, she silently retched again.
"..."
Ophelia sighed, took out two small porcelain bottles from her storage ring, walked to Lilith's side, squatted down, and handed the two small porcelain bottles to her:
"The red bottle contains seasickness medication, and the white bottle contains peppermint pills. Take the seasickness medication first, and then suck on a peppermint pill when you feel nauseous."
Lilith, her face pale, accepted the bottle, used the last of her strength to thank it, then uncorked the small red bottle, poured out a pea-sized pill, and swallowed it with a gulp.
The effect was almost immediate. In less than the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea, the color in her face began to slowly return, and her grip on the railing loosened.
She let out a long sigh of relief, sat down against the gunwale, and a trace of relief on her face still lingered from the ordeal.
"I feel much better... Second Senior Sister, you are truly my benefactor."
"Don't mention it. It's only right to carry some medicine when you're traveling."
As evening approached, the sky over the sea began to change from blue to orange.
The Haique sailed smoothly across a wide expanse of sea in the twilight, the water shimmering on both sides.
Captain Evelyn secured the helm and sat down at the wooden table in the center of the deck. A sailor brought her several earthenware bowls filled with steaming fish soup and crispy toast.
Lilith had recovered and was sitting at the table, sipping her soup. Although her face was still a little pale, she was much better.
She took a few sips of soup, her gaze began to wander restlessly, finally settling on the captain.
"Sister Evelyn, are there any sea monsters around here? You mean the really big, really fierce ones that can capsize ships."
The captain was quite friendly to the little girl who called her "sister" right away, and smiled when he heard this: "Sea monsters... there are quite a few, indeed."
"Really?! Have you seen it before?"
I've never seen it.
"what?"
