The next morning, Fanes was awakened by footsteps in the corridor. When he opened his eyes, Funina was still lying on her side next to him, breathing evenly, her hand on his shoulder, the corner of the blanket piled up between them.

Fanes gently removed her arm from his shoulder, lifted the covers and got out of bed, his pajama bottoms still bearing the marks from when he had just woken up.

As Fanes walked to the door and opened it, he bumped right into Navilette, who was in the corridor about to knock on the door.

Two pairs of eyes met in the morning air. Violet's hand was still suspended in mid-air, poised to knock.

Fanes stood in the doorway, his hair slightly tousled, showing signs of just waking up. The corridor was quiet for a moment. Then Fanes spoke first: "Um... good morning."

Navelette slowly lowered her hand, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment before glancing over his shoulder at the half-open door behind him: "...Good morning."

Villette's voice was as calm as a still mirror on water, "I'm leaving now."

Navilette turned and took two steps down the corridor, stopped, glanced at Fanes, and then added, "I wish you happiness."

After saying that, Navelette continued walking without looking back. His steps remained at his usual pace.

Fanes stood at the door watching his back disappear at the end of the corridor, then glanced at the sky outside the window, looked down at his own wrinkled pajamas, and gently closed the door.

When Fanes returned to the bedside, Furnessa was still lying on her side. He crouched down at the edge of the bed to look at her, making sure she wouldn't wake up anytime soon. Then he stood up, put on his coat, pushed open the side door of the room, went out, turned two corners along the corridor, took a few insulated bags from the deliveryman outside the side door of the Moman Palace, and walked back along the corridor.

Fanes took the food containers out of the insulated bag one by one and placed them on the living room table, set out the tableware, and then walked back to the door of Funina's room.

Fanes knocked on the edge of the doorframe: "Dinner's ready." A muffled voice came from inside, as if squeezed out from between the pillow and the blanket: "...I don't want to move."

Fanes stood at the doorway, looking at the quilt inside the room: Little Black was squatting at the foot of the bed, turning its head to look at him, its tail lightly brushing the edge of the bed before turning back to look in the direction of Funina, as if waiting for an instruction to decide its next course of action and the pace of intervention.

Fanes glanced at Xiao Hei, and Xiao Hei glanced at him back. In that instant when their eyes met, the corner of Fanes' mouth twitched slightly.

Xiao Hei read a signal from that gaze; its ears perked up slightly, and its tail stopped wagging.

Fanes turned and went into the living room, picked up a steaming food box from the table, opened the lid, and brought it to Funina's bedside.

Fanes sat on the edge of the bed, picked up a piece of omelet with his chopsticks, and brought it to Funina's mouth.

Furnessa smelled the aroma and finally poked half her head out from under the covers, slightly opening her mouth to receive the food that was about to be served.

Little Black pounced. It drew a very short arc in the air and landed precisely above Fanes' wrist. As it landed, it turned its head and caught the omelet that was being served with its mouth. Then it landed back at the foot of the bed and began to chew slowly, as if it had completed a program that had been pre-programmed to start and was now executing the final steps at its own pace.

Fanes looked down at his empty chopsticks, then at the little black dog chewing at the foot of the bed, and then turned to Funina and said, "Oh dear, I can't beat it."

Funina shrank back under the covers, her voice coming through the corner: "...You did this on purpose, didn't you?"

Fanes picked up another omelet: "How could it be intentional? It was too fast. Before I could even hand it to you, it had already flown over."

Xiao Hei stopped chewing at the foot of the bed, turned its head to look at Fanes, as if using that unchanging gaze to confirm whether it had room for another round of action.

Furina sat up from under the covers, leaned against the headboard, took the plate of omelets from Fanes's hands, placed it on her lap, picked up her chopsticks, took a piece, and put it in her mouth. She chewed it twice and swallowed.

"Make it stay away. Otherwise, I won't be able to eat this whole plate."

Fanes said to Xiao Hei, "You're suspended."

Little Black squatted at the foot of the bed, its tail drooping gently, as if using that even sway to confirm that it had been temporarily removed from the current action sequence.

After finishing her breakfast, Funina placed the plate on the bedside table and stretched. "Let's go for a walk. I'm getting so bored staying in Momang Palace all day."

Fanes stood up, folded the empty food container, and put it into an insulated bag. "Where do you want to go?"

Funina got out of bed and went to the wardrobe to start looking for clothes to wear today: "First, I'll go to the dessert shop over at the harbor and buy an ice cream, then take a walk along the river. If the weather is nice, we can sit on the outdoor bench for a while and watch the boats on the water and the outline of the bridge in the distance."

Fanes leaned against the doorframe: "Then let's go."

As they walked out through the side gate of Mo Mang Palace, the afternoon sun shone brightly on the stone pavement of the street, warming it with its rays.

The sycamore trees along the roadside cast dappled shadows, and people were queuing in front of the bakery across the street. Several clotheslines and iron lampposts stretched out at an angle, forming a slowly moving shadow on the ground.

Fanes walked beside Fernina, his pace slower than usual. Passing the dessert shop, Fanes stopped and bought two scoops of ice cream, handing one to Fernina and keeping the other for himself. They walked along the riverbank for a while and sat down on an empty bench.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled patterns of light across the space between the two figures. Occasionally, a boat would pass by on the distant water, leaving a slowly spreading ripple on the surface.

Furina leaned back in her chair, took a bite of the edge of her ice cream, held it in her mouth for a moment, swallowed, and then turned to look at Fanes: "Do you have anything else planned for this afternoon?"

Fanes also took a bite of ice cream: "No. Today's plan is to spend time with you."

"Then I want to go to Inazuma to see the cherry blossoms!"
