"Come...ah..."

Fu Xuan sat on the edge of the bed, holding a white porcelain bowl in his hand. He scooped up a spoonful of food, blew on it gently, and then brought it to Lu Ze's lips.

Her movements were fluid and natural, clearly indicating that she had fully embraced the role of caregiver.

The rice was topped with a few slices of stir-fried meat and a small bunch of greens. The dishes were arranged with great care, and the steam carrying a faint aroma wafted into Lu Ze's nose.

Lu Ze felt a little uncomfortable with Fu Xuan feeding him.

From childhood to adulthood, as far back as he can remember, the number of times he has been cared for like this can be counted on one hand.

The grandmother who adopted him during his first time travel counts as one instance, but that was when he was seven or eight years old.

He's in his mid-twenties now. How do I describe the feeling of a grown man being fed spoonful by spoonful by a girl? It's both enjoyable and agonizing.

"Well, I'll do it myself." Lu Ze said, reaching out his uninjured hand to take the bowl and spoon from Fu Xuan's hand.

Fu Xuan slightly shifted his body, deftly dodging his hand.

"Don't move. Your shoulder is injured. If the wound reopens, it will take several days to heal." Her tone was firm, yet it also carried a gentle, coaxing quality.

There was nothing Lu Ze could do but resign himself to his fate, withdrawing his hand and obediently opening his mouth to eat the food she fed him.

"Is it tasty?"

Fu Xuan looked at Lu Ze with a hint of expectation in his eyes, his hands never stopping. He scooped up half a spoonful of rice and half a spoonful of vegetables, blew on it, and then steadily fed it to Lu Ze.

"It's not bad, much better than the food in the cafeteria at noon," Lu Ze answered truthfully, swallowing back the second half of his sentence, "It's just a bit bland."

Upon hearing his affirmative answer, Fu Xuan's eyes curved into two beautiful crescent moons, and her face beamed with a smile that brightened the atmosphere of the entire room.

"Eat more if you like, there's more in the pot."

Her voice was light and cheerful, and she became more proactive when scooping up the food again, blowing on it more gently than before, as if afraid of burning him.

Seeing her mood instantly improve, Lu Ze felt inexplicably happy as well.

This girl usually puts on airs at the temple, always striving for the best solution in her words and actions, but at home, when taking care of him, that deliberately maintained sense of distance disappears without her realizing it.

Her joys and sorrows are always written on her face; it's just that she's usually too tense.

Soon, the bowl of rice was finished.

Fu Xuan placed the empty bowl on the bedside table, picked up a tissue, and gently wiped the oil stains from the corner of Lu Ze's mouth.

Her movements were as gentle as when she fed him earlier. She patted the corner of his mouth twice with a tissue, then folded it again, wiping it carefully.

Then she carefully supported his back, adjusting his position little by little, so that he could lean against the soft pillow at the head of the bed, and then bent down to tuck the blanket around him.

"Don't bother with anything else, go eat first," Lu Ze said, leaning against the headboard.

It's been at least twenty minutes since she brought the food in, and her own food is still in the kitchen; it's probably cold by now.

He's not a cripple; at most, he took a sword to the shoulder and his hands are a little clumsy. He shouldn't be treated like a fragile object.

But he kept these words to himself, because he knew that even if he did, it would be useless; once a girl made up her mind, no one could change it.

"Okay, you rest for a bit, I'm going out to eat."

Fu Xuan gave a few more instructions before picking up the empty bowl and leaving the room, leaving the door slightly ajar.
