The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 100 Something Happened to Sister Hong
For two days after leaving Yang Ru's house, Lin Feng's life was unusually peaceful.
Su's mother has been moved to a regular ward and is able to sit up and drink porridge by herself. Although her face is still very pale, there is light in her eyes.
Su Mengya works during the day and stays at the hospital with her husband at night. Lin Feng goes every other day, bringing some food cooked by Zhang Xiulan.
That night, he had just finished showering and lay down in bed when his phone vibrated.
When the screen displayed "Kui Zi," my heart skipped a beat. Kui Zi was Sister Hong's top henchman, and she never contacted him on her own initiative.
"Brother Lin, something's happened. Sister Hong wants you to come over." Kui Zi's voice was very low, and the background noise of music and shouts could be faintly heard.
Lin Feng changed his clothes, went out, and hailed a taxi straight to Bai Jin Hai. The KTV was at its liveliest at midnight, with flashing lights in the lobby and drunk customers and waiters bustling about in the corridors.
But Lin Feng noticed that something was off about the atmosphere today. Several security guards in black suits stood ramrod straight in the lobby, their eyes like eagles, watching every guest coming in and out.
Kui Zi was waiting for him at the elevator entrance.
His expression was even more somber than the last time we met. His suit jacket was open, and he didn't waste any words after seeing Lin Feng. He directly pressed the elevator button for the fourth floor.
There were only the two of them in the elevator.
Kui Zi stared at the floor numbers, his voice extremely low. "Tonight, one of the guys saw a customer acting strangely in the hallway of the private room. He was convulsing and collapsed on the sofa. We thought he was drunk, but then we found a few colorful pills in his pocket." He paused, "Ecstasy, high-proof. We haven't touched that stuff in ages."
The elevator reached the fourth floor, and Kui Zi led him through the dark wooden door that Lin Feng had seen before.
The two burly men at the door had very tense expressions today, practically glaring at people.
The office was filled with smoke.
Sister Hong sat behind her desk, still wearing her signature black long-sleeved shirt, with the top button fastened.
He had a cigarette between his fingers, and the ashtray in front of him was already piled high with cigarette butts. Brother Biao stood beside him, his usual carefree expression completely gone.
When Sister Hong saw Lin Feng come in, she put out her cigarette in the ashtray. "Sit down." Her voice was a little hoarse than usual, the kind of hoarseness that comes from smoking too much.
Lin Feng sat down opposite her.
Kui Zi closed the door and stood in the doorway.
"Did Kui Zi tell you what happened?" Sister Hong looked up at him. Her face was paler than usual, and there were two faint bluish patches under her eyes, indicating that she hadn't slept since the incident.
"They roughly said that someone wants to sell off their stock at the venue?"
"It's not just loose stock." Sister Hong took a small, transparent plastic bag from the drawer and threw it on the table.
Inside were several colorful pills, shimmering with an unnatural fluorescent light. "This purity of ecstasy would cost at least five hundred yuan a pill in the Hehai market. They're not after the money. If they were after profit, they wouldn't have chosen me. My inspections are strict; I stopped selling here a long time ago. Selling in bulk is too risky. They're clearly after me."
He leaned back in his chair as he spoke. "If even one of these things is found in my establishment, Bai Jinhai will have to shut down. If more are found, or if someone gets sick from taking it, that's a criminal offense. At that point, not only Bai Jinhai, but all my businesses will be shut down. That's their goal."
Lin Feng looked at the transparent plastic bag on the table. "Zuo Ning?"
"Who else could it be but him?" Brother Biao chimed in, his voice laced with barely suppressed rage. "That bastard's always wanted to devour us. The last big raid on the card room failed, so this time he's using a dirty trick. Damn it."
Sister Hong raised her hand to signal Brother Biao to shut up.
I stood up, walked around the desk, and went to the floor-to-ceiling window. Outside the window was the night view of Hehai City, with the lights on the river scattered into patches of golden light.
He stood there with his back to everyone, silent for about half a minute.
"Kui Zi has already brought back the henchmen who were distributing the goods." She turned around. "They're in the basement. But it's not very useful. He only mentioned one guy named Tie Tou; he doesn't know anything about the others."
"Where is that henchman now?"
"They're still interrogating him," Kui Zi chimed in from the doorway. "This kid's incredibly stubborn. He's been beaten pretty badly, but he keeps repeating the same few things over and over."
Lin Feng looked at Sister Hong. "I'll go take a look."
Sister Hong turned to look at him. "You don't necessarily have to get involved in this kind of thing. I called you here because you helped me a lot last time, and I need you to know the current situation."
"And then?" Lin Feng's voice was flat. "You helped me last time, so your business is my business."
Hongjie stared at him for several seconds. Then she threw her cigarette butt into the ashtray. "Kuizi, take Brother Lin there."
The basement was on the ground floor of the KTV, not accessible by the guest elevator. Kui Zi led him through the staff passage behind the kitchen, down a metal staircase, and around two corners before finally reaching an iron door.
The iron gate was soundproof, and behind it was a small room. The floor was made of cement, the walls were painted white, and a fluorescent light tube hung from the ceiling, casting a bright, eerily white light throughout the room.
In the middle of the room was an iron chair with a young man, who looked to be in his early twenties, strapped to it.
His face was covered in bruises, his lip was cut, and the blood had dried and scabbed over. His T-shirt was torn and thrown on the ground, revealing a few ribs and tattoos on his bare upper body.
Two burly men stood beside him; one was bald, and the other had a buzz cut.
Kui Zi walked over and squatted down in front of the young man. "I'll give you one more chance. Where did the goods come from? Who gave you permission to distribute them here?"
The young man looked up, one eye swollen shut, the other bloodshot. "I...I told you...it was Tie Tou who gave it to me...I really don't know anything else...Brother...please...I really don't know..."
Kui Zi stood up and took a step back.
The bald man took another half step forward and punched the young man in the ribs. The young man screamed in pain and curled up like a shrimp.
Lin Feng stood at the door and watched the whole process.
This was the first time he had ever witnessed such a scene. Standing there, smelling the rust and blood in the air, and hearing the dull thud of bones being smashed by fists, he felt completely different.
He wasn't afraid; on the contrary, he was very calm. This calmness even struck him as a little strange.
Kui Zi squatted down again. "Where is Tie Tou?"
"West City...behind the tile market...there's an underground casino...he often goes there..." The young man's voice was broken, he had to catch his breath after every few words. "Big brother...can you let me go...?"
Kui Zi stood up and walked to Lin Feng's side, lowering his voice. "This kid probably only knows this much. I've heard of Tie Tou. He's been around in Xicheng for many years, a small-time boss who helps people distribute drugs. But he doesn't do drugs himself, he's just a middleman. He definitely has someone behind him, but this little shrimp can't get to that level."
Lin Feng glanced at the trembling young man strapped to the chair. "Keep an eye on him, don't let him die. He's still useful."
Kui Zi nodded and instructed the bald man and the crew-cut man to loosen the young man's grip.
Then he turned to look at Lin Feng, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "Brother Lin, you're quite calm. Most people would throw up if they saw something like this for the first time."
Lin Feng smiled but didn't reply.
