In the photo, her profile is close to Raymond Lam's chin, with a river view in the background. She glanced at the photo, nodded in satisfaction, and then put down her phone.

Lin Feng took the small blue gift box out of his pocket, placed it on the table, and pushed it over. "A birthday present."

Shen Qianqian took the gift box, opened it, and examined the platinum chain of the seashell pendant under the light.

The corners of her mouth slowly curved up, and her eyes followed suit. She didn't say "It's so expensive," nor did she say "You don't need to spend the money." She simply handed the chain to Raymond Lam, then turned around and swept her hair back to reveal the nape of her neck.

Lin Feng put the chain on her neck, and when his fingers touched the skin on the back of her neck, Shen Qianqian's shoulder blades twitched slightly.

The chain was on, and the seashell pendant sat perfectly in the small indentation between her collarbones, gleaming with a soft silvery-white luster under the light.

She turned back and looked down at the pendant on her chest, then looked up at Lin Feng with bright eyes.

"Is it pretty?"

"nice."

Shen Qianqian stood up from her seat, took two steps forward, bent down, and pressed her lips to his. The kiss was short, but very sincere.

The lingering scent of cheese still lingered on his lips; his tongue lightly touched Lin Feng's upper lip before retreating.

When she sat back down, her cheeks were a little flushed, but she couldn't suppress the smile on her lips.

As dinner was drawing to a close, a waiter brought over a small chocolate mousse cake with a pink candle on it.

This is the birthday dessert included in the set meal. The candle flames flickered in the dimly lit restaurant.

"Make a wish," Lin Feng said.

Shen Qianqian clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, moved her lips silently, and then opened her eyes to blow out the candle.

Lin Feng asked her what she wished for, and she shook her head, saying she couldn't tell, or it wouldn't come true. But her expression betrayed her—the curve of her lips held a hint of slyness, a touch of shyness, and a sweetness that only she knew.

Lin Feng did not press further.

He cut a piece of cake and placed it on the plate in front of her. Just then, a voice interrupted from the side.

"Qianqian, it really is you! Long time no see."

Shen Qianqian looked up, her smile pausing for a moment. A young man stood beside her, wearing a beige casual suit jacket over a light blue shirt, the top two buttons undone.

He was very tall, with perfect features, his hair was neatly combed back, and he wore a watch on his wrist that Raymond Lam couldn't identify but was obviously expensive.

Behind them were two equally well-dressed men and women, each carrying shopping bags, clearly having just come from a nearby high-end shopping mall.

"Senior Brother Chen," Shen Qianqian's voice returned to its usual polite but not particularly warm tone, "What a coincidence."

"Yes, I was having dinner with a friend next door, and I saw you here when I came out to answer the phone." Chen Yuzhi's gaze swept over Shen Qianqian, lingering on the new seashell pendant she was wearing between her collarbones, before turning to Lin Feng sitting opposite her.

That gaze lingered on Lin Feng for about two seconds, looking from the collar of his gray T-shirt to the hem of his sweatpants, and the corner of his mouth curved into a slightly ambiguous smile.

"This is...your classmate? Why didn't you introduce him?"

Shen Qianqian put down her fork, her voice a few degrees colder than usual. "This is my boyfriend, Lin Feng."

"Boyfriend?" Chen Yuzhi raised an eyebrow, making an exaggerated expression as if he had heard something unbelievable. "Qianqian, weren't you still single at the last class reunion? When did you get a boyfriend? None of us high school classmates knew about it." The two people behind him also came over, one of the girls looking Lin Feng up and down with undisguised curiosity in her eyes.

"We have other things to do, let's talk next time," Shen Qianqian said.

"What's the rush? It's a rare opportunity to run into each other." Chen Yuzhi showed no sign of leaving. He took half a step forward, standing next to Lin Feng, looking down at him. "Lin Feng, right? My name is Chen Yuzhi, I'm Qianqian's senior, one year ahead of him. My dad is Chen Hao of Hengyou Real Estate. You should have heard of him, right?"

Lin Feng picked up the lemonade on the table and took a sip. "Never heard of it."

Chen Yuzhi's expression froze for a moment.

The girl behind him pursed her lips, suppressing a laugh, while the boy next to her pretended to look down at his phone.

Chen Yuzhi quickly regained his smile, but it seemed more deliberate than before.

He took out his phone from his suit pocket, opened his WeChat Moments, scrolled through it, and then turned the screen to show Lin Feng.

"You might not be very familiar with our circle. That's okay, it's always good to know more people. Look, this is a photo of me speaking on behalf of the alumni association at my high school's anniversary celebration. Next to me is Deputy Director Sun from the Municipal Education Bureau. This is a photo from my dad's company's annual meeting last month. Can you recognize any of these people? This is Director Liu from the Municipal Construction Bureau, and this is Chairman Ma from the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce..."

Lin Feng glanced at his phone screen, then at Chen Yuzhi. "Senior Brother Chen, are you a micro-business owner? You seem to know quite a lot of people?"

The restaurant was silent for about two seconds.

The girl behind Chen Yuzhi finally couldn't help but burst out laughing. Chen's face finally fell; he put his phone away, and the last trace of a smile vanished from his face.

They turned their attention back to Lin Feng.

"Since it's Qianqian's birthday today, as her senior, I should also show my appreciation." He said, taking out a rectangular dark blue gift box from the inside pocket of his suit jacket. The box had a gold English logo printed on it.

The gift box was placed on the table and opened. Inside was a bracelet studded with small diamonds, shimmering delicately under the restaurant lights. "A classic Cartier design, not too expensive, but perfect for Qianqian. Happy birthday, Qianqian."

Shen Qianqian looked at the bracelet but didn't reach out to take it. "I can't accept such a valuable gift."

"Why can't I accept this? Why are you being so polite with me?" Chen Yuzhi took the bracelet out of the box and reached out to pull Shen Qianqian's wrist to put it on her wrist.

Shen Qianqian shrank back slightly, and her wrist slipped away from his fingertips.

Lin Feng stood up.

He walked to the table, slightly turned his body to block Shen Qianqian's view, and looked down at Chen Yuzhi.

This distance made his height advantage, which was more than half a head taller than him, even more obvious, and he appeared particularly imposing in the shadows.

"Qianqian said she wouldn't accept it. We appreciate your kindness." Lin Feng said, taking an envelope out of his pocket and pushing it out. "If you have too much money, donate it to the Red Cross."

As he spoke, he put his arm around Shen Qianqian's waist.

Seeing the two's intimate actions, Chen Yuzhi's expression changed several times.

She stuffed the bracelet back into the box, her smile almost completely gone.

As he left, he stared at Lin Feng and threatened in a low voice, "You'd better have the last laugh. A girl like Qianqian isn't someone anyone can be good enough for."

Only after Chen Yuzhi's figure completely disappeared from the doorway of the private room did Shen Qianqian take Lin Feng's hand and whisper, "Chen Yuzhi is a petty person. He was humiliated in public by you today, and he will definitely try to get revenge. Be careful."

"I know. Don't worry about me." Lin Feng watched the other person's departing figure, planning to have Kui Zi investigate tomorrow.
