The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 202 Make time to go once
Zhang Xiulan came out of the kitchen carrying dishes: a plate of braised pork ribs, a plate of stir-fried vegetables, and a bowl of tomato and egg drop soup. She placed the dishes on the table, then turned back and brought out a plate of sweet and sour fish.
"Xiaofeng, call Mengya out for dinner," she said as she set out the chopsticks.
Lin Feng leaned on the sofa armrest to stand up and limped to the kitchen doorway. Su Mengya was standing by the sink washing her hands, an apron tied around her waist and shirt sleeves rolled up to her elbows.
Hearing footsteps, he turned around, his hands still wet, and shook them a couple of times.
"What's wrong?"
"Dinner's ready."
"You go first, I'll wipe the stove." She turned around to get a rag, and as she bent over, the hem of her shirt rode up a bit, revealing a small section of her fair skin on her lower back.
Her waist was very thin, and the shallow groove of her spine extended down from under the apron's ties and disappeared into the waistband of her jeans.
Lin Feng leaned against the door frame and looked at her.
Su Mengya finished wiping the stove, straightened up, draped the rag over the faucet, and turned around. Seeing him still standing in the doorway, she tilted her head slightly.
"What are you looking at?"
"Sister Mengya, you look like a little wife now."
Su Mengya's lips curved into a smile. She walked over and gently pushed him in the chest. "Who's that little wife? You're so cheeky! Have you seen enough? Let's go eat."
The four of them sat down around the dining table. Zhang Xiulan kept piling food onto Lin Feng's plate, filling his bowl to the brim.
Lin Jianguo ate very slowly, stirring the rice in his bowl with his chopsticks, occasionally glancing up at Lin Feng.
Su Mengya sat next to Lin Feng, and she picked the food out of her own bowl; there was nothing special about it.
But when she eats, she will turn her head to look at him, and her gaze is very natural, as if she has become accustomed to confirming that he is still next to her while eating.
After dinner, Su Mengya helped Zhang Xiulan clear the dishes. Lin Feng sat on the sofa, picked up his phone, and then put it down again.
Ye Qinghan's message came in at this moment.
There was only one sentence: "I heard you've been discharged from the hospital. Take good care of yourself and recover well."
Lin Feng stared at the words on the screen, his thumb hovering over the keyboard for a moment. He wanted to reply, but felt that whatever he said wouldn't be quite right.
Finally, he typed three words—"Got it"—and sent it.
After the message was sent, the chat window remained silent for a long time. Ye Qinghan neither replied nor sent another message.
Lin Feng put his phone on the coffee table, picked up the remote, and turned on the TV. A variety show was playing on the screen, filled with laughter and applause, and the host, dressed in a bright suit, was jumping around on stage.
I didn't really watch it; I just turned the volume down a bit as background noise.
Su Mengya came out of the kitchen and sat down on the sofa. She wiped her hands on her pants, then leaned back against the sofa and turned her head to look at Lin Feng.
Do you have class tomorrow?
"There are a few classes. But it's not very convenient for me to go to school like this."
"I'll give you a ride. It's on my way anyway." She said this casually, as if she were talking about something perfectly ordinary.
Lin Feng glanced at her. Su Mengya's gaze was fixed on the television screen, but her fingers were tapping lightly on her knees, the rhythm somewhat irregular.
"Okay," he said.
Su Mengya's lips curved into a smile again. This time the smile was a little wider than before, but she quickly composed herself, stood up, and said, "I'll go back now, I'll pick you up tomorrow morning."
As she went to the door to change her shoes, Lin Feng stood up, leaning on the sofa armrest, and limped after her. Su Mengya turned to look at him, her lips moving slightly.
"You'll take me?"
"Deliver it to the door."
Su Mengya smiled, bent down to tie her shoelaces, and then straightened up. She was half a head shorter than him, and standing in the streetlight by the door, her light pink shirt appeared slightly white in the light.
"See you tomorrow." She said, then turned and pushed open the door to leave. One of the motion-activated lights in the hallway turned on, her shadow flickered on the wall, and then the door closed.
He closed the door, limped back to the sofa, and sat down. The variety show on TV was still playing; a guest was telling jokes, and the audience was laughing hysterically.
The living room immediately became quiet after the TV was turned off.
Zhang Xiulan came out of the kitchen, carrying a bowl of freshly peeled apples. She placed the bowl on the coffee table and sat down next to him.
"Your dad's doing pretty well at that parking lot; he even got a perfect attendance bonus last month." Zhang Xiulan wiped her hands on her apron, staring blankly at the black screen of the TV for a while. "And your Manager Luo, when she came to deliver something a few days ago, I invited her to stay for a meal. That girl is quite sensible and speaks very politely."
Lin Feng chewed on his apple without replying.
Zhang Xiulan sat for a while, then stood up and said, "Go to sleep early," before going into the bedroom. The bedroom door was ajar, and Lin Jianguo's low voice and Zhang Xiulan's occasional responses could be heard from inside.
Lin Feng finished the remaining apple in his bowl, then limped back to his room with his phone in hand. He closed the door, took off his coat, and lay down on the bed. The mattress was the same old one; the springs creaked as he lay down.
My phone vibrated.
He picked it up and saw it was a video call invitation from Shen Qianqian. He answered, and the screen lit up.
Shen Qianqian leaned against the headboard, wearing a light blue cotton nightgown with a low neckline, but because of her side-lying position, the outlines of her two full breasts below her collarbone were faintly visible.
Her hair was spread out on the pillow, and her doll-like face showed a hint of sleepiness, but her eyes were still bright.
"Does your leg still hurt?" Her voice was slightly nasal, as if she had just woken up or was about to fall asleep.
"It doesn't hurt anymore. How about you? How's it going at your grandpa's house?"
"It's great. Grandpa plays chess with me every day, and I always lose. He says I'm terrible at chess, just like you." Shen Qianqian smiled, her eyes curving into crescents. "When are you coming to pick me up?"
"In a few days. I'll go when I can walk normally again."
"Then hurry up. I'm so bored here. All I do every day is eat, sleep, play chess with Grandpa, and video chat with you." She switched the phone to her other hand, and as she did so, the neckline of her nightgown was pulled up, revealing a small patch of fair skin below her collarbone. "Oh, by the way, my mom called today and said that things in the city are almost settled, and I can go back next week."
"That's good."
Shen Qianqian stared at the screen for a while, then a small smile curved her lips. "Did you miss me?"
Lin Feng looked at her face on the screen and nodded. "She definitely wanted to."
Shen Qianqian's smile spread from the corners of her mouth to her entire face. She buried her face in the pillow and rubbed it against it, then raised her head again and kissed the screen.
"I miss you too." Her voice came through the receiver, soft and gentle. "Then it's a promise, you'll pick me up next week."
"it is good."
Shen Qianqian chatted for a few more minutes, then yawned and said she was sleepy and going to bed. Lin Feng said goodnight and hung up.
He placed his phone on the bedside table and turned off the light. The room darkened, with only a sliver of light shining through the gap in the curtains onto the floor.
The wound on his thigh was still throbbing. He rolled over to face the wall, putting his hands under the pillow. His mind was racing.
Projects in the provincial capital, the expansion of Longlin...
Finally, I thought of Zhou Mei.
According to her plan, she seemed to be going to Yunnan and found a bookstore.
He will definitely make time to go there later.
