The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 207 Perhaps it's her
Lin Feng stayed at Shen Qianqian's maternal grandfather's house for two whole days. During those two days, he kept his phone on silent and spent all his time in the old courtyard, except for replying to messages from Shangguan Jinghong and Yonghu at night.
The old man adored the country dog he brought with him and took it everywhere he went.
The dog was very intelligent and recognized its owner in just two days. When the old man sat in the wicker chair sunbathing, it would curl up at his feet and doze off. When the old man went to the vegetable garden to pull weeds, it would wag its tail and follow behind, leaving a series of crooked plum blossom prints on the muddy ground with its little paws.
The old man made a kennel for the dog in the corner of the main room using an old wooden box and a cotton pad. He fed the dog and took it for a walk every morning and evening. He even took out his reading glasses and carefully studied the instructions for the pet food that Lin Feng brought. While reading, he muttered that the dog food nowadays is more sophisticated than what people eat.
On the first afternoon, the old man pulled Lin Feng to set up a chessboard under the old locust tree in the yard, and the two of them played chess from afternoon until dusk.
The old man's chess style was still as sharp as ever. After winning two games against Lin Feng, he stroked his beard with pride and said, "Kid, your chess skills haven't improved at all."
Lin Feng wasn't annoyed. He rearranged the pieces and said, "Let's play again." In the third game, he finally found his rhythm. Taking advantage of the old man's carelessness, he captured his rook and won by a narrow margin.
The old man stared at the chessboard for a long time, then burst into laughter, saying, "Good lad, you had a trick up your sleeve all along."
Shen Qianqian moved a small stool and sat down to watch the game, holding the little yellow dog she had become familiar with in her arms. Her eyes lit up when she saw Lin Feng win the game.
Dinner was cooked by Shen Qianqian herself: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried pork with garlic sprouts, braised pork ribs, plus a bowl of cold cucumber salad made by the old man from his own vegetable garden.
Her cooking skills have improved a lot compared to before. The sauce on the ribs was reduced to just the right consistency, and the saltiness was just right. The old man ate two bowls of rice and was unusually talkative at the table. He said that Qianqian used to burn the pot even when cooking instant noodles at home, but now she can cook a whole meal. It seems that someone has been teaching her.
He looked at Lin Feng as he said this...
The weather was exceptionally fine the next morning, and the three of them took the little yellow dog for a stroll in Qingyuan People's Park. The park was built against a low hill, with a small artificial lake halfway up the hill. A few water lilies floated on the lake, and the stone path meandered through the woods.
The old man walked at the front, leaning on his cane, with the little yellow dog running around his feet. Shen Qianqian walked behind, arm in arm with Lin Feng, occasionally stopping to take a few photos with her phone, saying that the water lilies here were more beautiful than those on the other side of the river and sea.
At noon, we ate at a well-established noodle shop near the park, which served Qingyuan's most famous beef noodles. The old man and the noodle shop owner were old acquaintances. As soon as the owner saw him, he personally brought him a bowl of steaming hot beef noodles. The soup was rich, the noodles were chewy, the beef was sliced thinly and placed on top, and a handful of bright green cilantro was sprinkled on top.
The old man ate the noodles with great care. After finishing, he wiped his mouth with a tissue and said that it still tasted the same as before, unchanged for more than ten years.
On the third day, Lin Feng and Shen Qianqian were supposed to return to Hehai.
After lunch, Shen Qianqian was washing the dishes in the kitchen when Lin Feng explained the pet food and dog bed setup to the old man again, saying that the dog was still young and only needed to be fed once in the morning and once in the evening. He told him not to overfeed the dog, as it would easily get sick if it was too full.
The old man sat in the wicker chair, holding his dog. Surprisingly, he didn't find Lin Feng's ramblings annoying; he just listened quietly.
Shen Qianqian came out of the kitchen, took off her apron and draped it over the back of the chair, walked to her grandfather, bent down and hugged him.
The old man gently patted her back and said that she should come back to visit more often when she had time, and bring the boy with her.
Just then, a black sedan pulled up in front of the courtyard. The door opened, and two people got out.
The man in front was about the same age as the old man, with gray hair but a ruddy complexion. He was wearing a dark blue polo shirt and gray trousers, and looked like a retired senior cadre from the system.
Following behind was a man in his early thirties, wearing a white shirt and dark gray casual pants. He was quite tall, with regular features, and a polite yet warm smile on his lips.
The person in front quickly walked up to the old man as soon as he entered the courtyard, bent down slightly, grasped the old man's hand, and called out "Teacher" in a loud voice.
The old man looked up at him, squinted for a couple of seconds to make out his features, then his wrinkles smoothed out. He patted the other man's hand hard and said, "Dawei, what brings you here? It's been years since we last met."
The man who came was Chao Dawei, who happened to be his student when he was at the Party School.
After graduating, Chao Dawei worked his way up from a grassroots civil servant to the director of the municipal tourism bureau.
The man next to him is his son, Chao Yuan, who is in his early thirties. He owns a travel company that specializes in ecotourism routes around Qingyuan and is quite well-known locally.
Chao Dawei pulled over a bamboo chair and sat down under the old locust tree, chatting with the old man about things from decades ago.
I would say that if it weren't for your patient guidance back then, I wouldn't be where I am today.
The old man waved his hand, saying he wouldn't bring up those old stories. Chao Dawei then asked how Shen Qianqian's grandfather was doing. The old man pointed to the little yellow dog lying on his lap and said that with this old companion by his side, he had something to do every day.
Chao Dawei followed the old man's gaze to Lin Feng. The old man's introduction was very simple: his girlfriend's name was Lin Feng, and he was a reliable young man.
Chao Dawei's gaze towards Raymond Lam immediately changed.
He knew his teacher well; he was always very picky about Qianqian's choice of a partner. None of the blind dates he had been introduced to before had caught the old man's eye.
This time, the fact that they actually used the word "reliable" to describe it shows that they are truly satisfied.
Shen Qianqian went to the yard to chase the little yellow dog. Lin Feng sat on a bamboo chair under the old locust tree, and Chao Yuan moved his chair to sit next to him.
The two young men exchanged a few polite words about their ages and jobs. Chao Yuan was seven or eight years older than Lin Feng. He spoke slowly and deliberately, with the composure that comes from being in the system all his life, but without any official airs. When he talked about travel, there was an undisguised passion in his eyes.
He explained that he had worked for a large cultural tourism group in the provincial capital for several years, accumulating experience and connections before returning to Qingyuan to start his own business. Now he has two mature eco-tourism routes and a small cluster of homestays.
Qingyuan's tourism industry has developed rapidly in the past two years, and the province is also increasing its support for ecological and cultural tourism, making it a good time for expansion.
I just heard that Lin Feng has his own business in Hehai, and he said that there might be opportunities to cooperate in the future, such as developing some cross-city tourism routes, with Qingyuan responsible for scenic spots and accommodations, and Hehai responsible for customer sources and channels.
Lin Feng added him on WeChat and left his phone number. As they chatted, he discovered that although Chao Yuan seemed gentle and refined, he was very methodical in his work.
He has a very clear vision for his company's development plan over the next three years, and he has considered everything from the integration of scenic area resources to online customer acquisition channels very carefully.
Lin Feng felt that this person was worth befriending, not only for cooperation but also for long-term friendship.
As the sun began to set, the Chao father and son rose to take their leave. Before leaving, Chao Dawei held the old man's hand and spoke for a long time, saying that he would bring his wife to visit him next time, and that he was in good health and would surely live to be a hundred.
The old man waved his hand and said, "Don't curse me, I've lived so long I've become an old monster." Even as he said this, his face crinkled into a wide smile.
After seeing off the Chao family father and son, Lin Feng and Shen Qianqian should also set off.
Shen Qianqian carried her suitcase to the car, went back inside to check if she had left anything behind, then walked into the yard, bent down and hugged her grandfather.
The old man, unusually, didn't urge her to leave. He simply patted her back gently and said, "When you get to Hehai, let your mother know you're safe."
After letting go, Shen Qianqian squatted down and patted the little yellow dog's head, saying that she would bring it something delicious next time. The little yellow dog rubbed its wet nose against her palm.
The old man escorted them to the old locust tree and stood in its shade, leaning on his cane.
A breeze rustled the locust tree leaves. Lin Feng opened the car door and let Shen Qianqian get in first, then turned to look at the old man.
The old man nodded to him and said, "Drive carefully on the road." Lin Feng replied, "Grandpa, take care of yourself. I'll come see you again in a while."
The old man nodded again, then waved his cane toward the car, signaling them to hurry up and not dawdle.
Lin Feng got into the driver's seat and started the car. In the rearview mirror, he saw the old man still standing under the old locust tree, with the little yellow dog squatting at his feet. The man and the dog watched the car turn out of the alley.
On the way back to Hehai, Shen Qianqian leaned back in the passenger seat, rolled down the window a crack, and let the wind blow her hair back.
She said these past two days had probably been the most relaxing two days of the year, and Lin Feng said he would come often in the future. Shen Qianqian turned her head to look at him, the corners of her mouth curving deeply, and said, "Okay, I'll come often in the future."
It was already dark when the car entered the city of Hehai. Lin Feng dropped her off at the entrance of Ye Qinghan's residential area and took Shen Qianqian's suitcase out of the trunk.
The streetlights at the entrance of the residential area were on, casting an orange glow on her face. Shen Qianqian took the handle of the suitcase, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him on the corner of his mouth, telling him to go back and get some rest, and not to stay up late.
Lin Feng nodded. Shen Qianqian dragged her suitcase a few steps into the residential area, glanced back at him, waved to him, and then turned and walked into the gate.
Looking at that building from afar, it seemed like there was a figure watching him.
Perhaps it's... Ye Qinghan!
