The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 262 Black Stockings on Legs
What's most eye-catching is her legs—her long, slender legs, usually covered in flesh-colored stockings, are now wearing thin black stockings.
Black stockings encased her straight, shapely calves, extending from her ankles to mid-thighs, gleaming with a delicate sheen in the morning light. The area below her knees appeared even more slender and elongated under the black stockings, and the curve of her ankles was accentuated by her high heels.
She walked a beat slower than usual, seemingly still getting used to her new shoes. Occasionally, when she ran into colleagues in the corridor, she would subconsciously tug down her skirt, a fleeting blush of unease crossing her face.
She carried a tray into Lin Feng's office and placed a water glass and today's visitor appointment form on his desk.
Lin Feng looked up at her, his gaze lingering for a moment on her long legs encased in black stockings before returning to her face.
"Xiao Wang, changed your style today?"
Wang Yue's ears turned red instantly, and her fingers unconsciously pinched the hem of her skirt. "Um... last time you said that wearing black stockings would make you look more elegant. I'd like to try it today." She paused, then looked up at Lin Feng as if she had mustered up her courage. "Mr. Lin, are you free tonight? I haven't had a chance to properly thank you for what happened last time, so I'd like to invite you to dinner."
Lin Feng leaned back in his chair and looked at her.
This girl clearly put thought into her outfit today. She never wears high heels normally, but today she wore a pair of stilettos for the first time. She was also a little unsteady on her feet when she walked, which showed that they were newly bought and she hadn't gotten used to wearing them yet.
Those black stockings were brand new; the tag on the waistband was probably just taken off recently.
He wanted to say there was no need to be so polite, but seeing the tension and anticipation in Wang Yue's eyes, he swallowed his words.
If a girl musters up the courage to invite her boss to dinner and he refuses, she'll probably overthink things for a long time.
"Okay. Let's go together after get off work. Let's not go to anything too expensive, just something ordinary is fine."
Wang Yue's tense expression vanished instantly, and her dimples reappeared. "I know a barbecue restaurant near the company that's really good and reasonably priced." After saying that, she walked briskly out of the office. When she returned to her workstation, she couldn't help but look down at the black stockings on her legs and secretly breathed a sigh of relief—thankfully, she hadn't made a mistake today.
That evening, the two of them sat down at a barbecue restaurant near the company. The restaurant wasn't big, but the wooden tables and chairs were spotless, and each table had a small exhaust fan hanging from it. The pork belly on the iron plate sizzled and dripped with oil, and the air was filled with the aroma of caramelized fat and the sweet and spicy scent of Korean sauce.
Wang Yue spent half a day researching online beforehand and ordered all the restaurant's signature dishes, including thick-cut pork belly, marinated beef ribs, garlic shrimp, and cheese corn, filling the table to the brim.
Lin Feng looked at the table full of dishes and shook his head. "We can't finish this much food for two people."
While using tongs to turn the pork belly on the iron plate, Wang Yue said, "If we can't finish it, we'll pack it up and take it home. Anyway, I live not far from here, only a ten-minute walk."
During the barbecue break, Wang Yue expressed her gratitude many times, from the day Lin Feng in Qingyuan shielded her from drinks and splashed water, to later confronting Lu Hao head-on for her sake.
Then there was the time she was given leave to recover from her poor performance in the office. She spoke very seriously, with a belated sense of realization in her tone.
"President Lin, to be honest, Yuan Hui used to think that the boss must have ulterior motives for hiring a female secretary, and I almost believed it at the time. Now that I think about it, I feel incredibly naive. You are completely different from those other bosses."
Lin Feng wrapped a piece of pork belly in lettuce, stuffed it into his mouth, and after chewing, casually asked, "How's your boyfriend doing lately?"
Wang Yue used tongs to flip the grilled beef ribs over. "They're alright, just a little short-tempered sometimes. But they've been much better lately. It's my birthday the day after tomorrow, and he said he wants to celebrate with me."
When she said the word "celebration," the corners of her mouth curved slightly, but the curve quickly disappeared, as if she had thought of something unpleasant.
Lin Feng picked up his teacup and took a sip. "Your birthday is the day after tomorrow? Then happy birthday in advance. Everyone's been working really hard lately, so the company is planning a team-building event to help us relax. You pick a place tomorrow, and we'll go in batches. The first batch will leave the day after tomorrow. You're the secretary, so you'll be in charge of coordinating this event, is that alright?"
Wang Yue's hand holding the clip paused in mid-air. The day after tomorrow was her birthday, and Yuan Hui had already said he would celebrate with her. However, the team building activity was the first independent task her boss had given her since she became a full-time employee, and its significance and importance were different.
After quickly weighing the options in my mind, I decided that the team building activity couldn't be postponed. It was both a work matter and a matter of trust. I could just have a meal with Yuan Hui when she got back. Birthdays aren't something you can only celebrate once a year.
She put down the clip and readily agreed, "No problem, Mr. Lin. I'll have the proposal ready for you to see tomorrow."
After finishing the meal, Lin Feng paid the bill.
Wang Yue originally wanted to pay the bill, but he shut her down with the words, "It's my first meal after I'm officially hired, the boss will treat."
The two of them came out of the barbecue restaurant, and the cool night breeze felt nice on their faces.
Lin Feng glanced at the quiet alley across the street and casually said, "Since you live nearby, I'll walk you home. It'll help you digest your food."
The two walked slowly back along the sidewalk, their shadows stretched long by the streetlights, moving one after the other on the ground.
Wang Yue was still a little unaccustomed to walking in the high heels she was wearing today, and her heels were slightly sore, but she gritted her teeth and didn't say a word, trying her best to make her walking posture look more natural.
Lin Feng noticed her slightly unsteady gait, but didn't point it out. He simply slowed down his own pace.
"Xiao Wang, now that you've been promoted, you can try to take on more responsibilities. The business department has a lot of projects lately, and Lu Fei sometimes needs help organizing tender documents and contracts. Try to learn from him when you have time. No matter how well you do as a secretary, it's only an auxiliary role. What will truly get you promoted and a raise is a deep understanding of the business. If you encounter any difficulties in the future, just tell me directly, no need to beat around the bush."
Hearing these words, Wang Yue felt a surge of warmth in her heart. She nodded vigorously, "Thank you, Mr. Lin. I'll go back and buy some books on project management to start studying on my own. Actually, I've already been learning cost accounting from the finance department recently. Although I'm not very proficient yet, I can understand the basic concepts."
As we spoke, we arrived at the entrance of the residential area.
Wang Yue stopped and was about to turn around to thank Lin Feng and say goodbye when she suddenly caught a glimpse of a figure standing at the door.
The smile on his face froze slightly.
Yuan Hui stood under the streetlight at the entrance of the residential area, holding a bouquet of red roses.
Today I wore a white shirt, and for the first time ever, I didn't roll up the sleeves. My hair was also neatly combed with hair gel, so I obviously put in a lot of effort before going out.
He had a smile on his face as he searched for Wang Yue's figure, but when he saw that there was another man standing next to Wang Yue, his smile froze on his face as if it had been frozen.
He recognized the man—it was the young boss who sat in the passenger seat during the live broadcast of the drunk driving check that day, the "General Manager Lin" that Wang Yue mentioned on the phone every day.
