The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 265 Ask You a Question
It's all in the past now. If she wants to change the key, she can find a locksmith tomorrow. If she doesn't want to change it, she can just move. There are several apartments near the company, and the rent isn't expensive.
Wang Yue shook her head in his arms, sobbing as she said that this place was close to the company and she didn't want to move.
When she finally let go after crying her fill, a blush of embarrassment rose on her face as she looked at the patch of Lin Feng's shirt soaked with tears and snot.
She reached for a tissue to wipe his face, but then withdrew her hand halfway through. Lin Feng looked down at the wet patch on his chest, then at her swollen, red eyes. He didn't know what to say, so he simply picked up the tissue box from the coffee table and handed it to her.
She looked up at Lin Feng, her face wet with a mixture of tears and sweat. Her lips trembled several times before she managed to squeeze out a complete sentence: "Mr. Lin... I... I didn't know he had the key... I really didn't know..."
"It's alright. He won't appear in front of you again."
Wang Yue took the tissue and pressed it to her eyes, which were quickly soaked with tears. She cried for a while before slowly stopping, her voice hoarse and weak: "President Lin... could you... could you please not leave? I'm a little scared."
Seeing his expression, Lin Feng nodded in agreement.
Wang Yue lay back down on the sofa.
Lin Feng closed the balcony window a little smaller and drew the curtains tightly before sitting down on the armchair next to the sofa.
Wang Yue curled up in the blanket, her eyes closing and opening repeatedly several times.
Finally, she turned over and lay on her side, looking at Lin Feng sitting next to her, her voice very soft.
"Mr. Lin, aren't you going to sleep?"
"I'm not sleepy. You go to sleep."
Wang Yue was silent for a while, then pulled the blanket up to her chin, revealing a pair of still red eyes.
To calm herself down, she started chatting with Lin Feng casually. Her voice was still soft and hoarse, but it was much calmer than before.
"Mr. Lin, how did you know he was coming? And how did you rush over to save me?"
"The doorman, Xiao Liu, is the one who drove you back last time. He lives in the building right across from yours. He saw Yuan Hui smoking downstairs in the middle of the night and felt something was wrong, so he called Kui Zi. Kui Zi then told me."
"Brother Liu, I'll thank him in person another day." Wang Yue pulled the blanket up a little, paused for a moment, and then said, "I was telling Su Hui a few days ago that Yuan Hui seems to have changed recently. He apologized, stopped throwing tantrums, and even said he wanted to celebrate my birthday. But it was all a lie. He secretly made a copy of my key... I don't know when he made it; I've never given him my key."
"Some people wear a mask for so long that they even start to believe it themselves."
After hearing this, Wang Yue remained silent for a long time. She looked down at her fingers resting on the blanket. "President Lin, was I too naive? Thinking the best of everyone?"
"It's not that you're stupid, it's that the world hasn't worn down your edges yet. It's good to maintain this mindset, but you need to learn to protect yourself in the future. Don't leave your keys where others can see them anymore, and don't use your birthday as the password for your combination lock."
Wang Yue lay on her side on the sofa, pulling the blanket up to her chin, revealing a pair of still red eyes.
The night outside the window was deep, and only the small table lamp on the coffee table was lit in the room, casting a soft glow. She turned over, facing Lin Feng, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke.
"Mr. Lin, why did you decide to start an engineering company? I heard from Minister Li that you used to be a yoga instructor. It's quite a big difference between the two industries."
Lin Feng leaned back in his armchair, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. He had been asked this question many times, and his answer had always been different, but the atmosphere tonight made him feel he could say a few more words.
"Being a yoga instructor was a happy accident. Back then, my family wasn't well-off. My dad worked on construction sites, and my mom did stocking shelves in a supermarket. Together, they only made a few thousand yuan a month. I got a yoga instructor certificate, just to earn some living expenses, but things kept going. Later, I met some people—some in logistics, some in real estate, some in hotels. They all thought I was a reliable person, so we started a business together. Then, the business expanded, so we registered a company, and that's how it is now."
Wang Yue listened intently. She only knew that Lin Feng had become a boss at a young age, but she had never known that his family had once struggled so much. "Are your parents still working?"
"My dad works as a parking lot attendant, and my mom works at a supermarket. I've tried to persuade them to quit several times, but they won't listen. They say they feel uncomfortable when they're idle." Lin Feng's lips curved slightly as he said this, a smile containing a faint sense of helplessness and indulgence. "After a while, I can arrange other jobs for them."
Looking at his profile, Wang Yue suddenly felt that this usually calm and decisive boss at the company looked exceptionally down-to-earth under the warm light of the desk lamp.
Recalling the time I saw him spending lavishly on cigarettes and alcohol as gifts for Director Lin at a private restaurant, I couldn't imagine that he had ever worried about living expenses.
Lin Feng turned his head to look at her. "And you? Why did you come to Hohai University?"
Wang Yue pulled the blanket up higher, buried half her face in it, and remained silent for a while before speaking. "My family lives in the countryside. My dad is in poor health and can't do heavy work, and my mom works as a piece-rate worker in a factory in town. My grandma has uremia and has to go to the county hospital for dialysis every week, but medical conditions in the countryside are very poor, and each trip involves several hours of bumpy mountain roads. The year I was admitted to university, everyone in the village said my parents were successful for supporting a college student. But I know that my mom borrowed money from all her relatives to raise the money to send me to university. After graduation, I had only one thought—to stay in the city, work hard to earn money, bring my parents out, and let my grandma go to a better hospital for treatment. I can't go back; going back would mean spending my whole life in that small place, repeating the fate of the previous generation."
His voice trembled slightly at the end, he sniffed, and wiped his eyes with the corner of the blanket. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lin, I lost my composure today."
Lin Feng pulled two tissues from the box and handed them over. "There's nothing to apologize for. I've had these thoughts before. I wanted to earn money to improve my family's life, to let my parents live in a nice house, and to prevent the people around me from being bullied. There's nothing wrong with these thoughts in themselves; the key is how you achieve them. You're doing well at Shuke. After you become a full-time employee, your salary will be enough to send home and you'll still have some left for yourself. Once you're more familiar with the business, I'll have Lu Fei guide you through some practical project management. After you learn, you can lead projects independently, and multiplying your income several times over won't be a problem. But you have to be mentally prepared; this path won't be easy."
"I'm not afraid of being tired." Wang Yue said these three words with a resolute tone, then peeked her face out from under the covers, her dimples appearing faintly again. "President Lin, so can you say you've succeeded now?"
"Success?" Lin Feng leaned back in his chair and thought for a moment. "It's still early days. Shuke is only just getting started. How far they can go in the future depends on the team. No matter how good I am, I can't take down an entire legion by myself."
Looking at him squinting slightly under the lamplight, Wang Yue suddenly felt a strange sense of contradiction about him.
